I am on my third play through, and at this point there are several characters that I actually don't like much.

These include: Iron Bull, Vivienne, Leliana, Blackwell, and Josephine. None of these characters have really engaged me, although I do find Vivienne's KE skill useful

Does anyone know the consequences to the overall game if you do not a) talk to the characters any more than you have to; or

B)  do their personal quests.

I don't mind recruiting them, and of course you must have Leliana and Josephine.

Any info would be helpful

thanks

None. Don't recriut any of them.

You won't lose much anyway. Don't even talk to them if you did recruit them, that will hurt you more....

You could potentially lose Blackwall under certain circumstances, and I hear there is some kind of bad ending but that would require going out of your way to ****** off pretty much every companion.

That said, engaging with those characters more and doing their personal quests is generally quite interesting and might just change your mind about them in general, even if they don't get used much in your party.

You must have to seriously go out of your way to make people leave.    My first run through I don't think Vivienne liked anything I did and I didn't finish her personal quest, yet post epilogue she was still available for use.    May be so long as you don't talk to them, they never get the opportunity to say "I'm off".      Have to admit though that on second run through I have talked to her more and used her more and whilst she will never be a favourite with me, I don't dislike quite as much as I did.  Strangely enough I have managed to please her on the odd occasion as well.

I find some of Sera's reactions/conversation irritating because she comes across as so immature but again I was probably not giving her enough air time on my first run and she is beginning to grow on me.

Iron Bull's conversation has dropped to nil and I never got his personal quest on my first run, presumably because my approval was never high enough (though that didn't stop Vivienne or Sera), so I am disappointed because I'd like to keep company more (other than out on jobs) but it is going nowhere.

Blackwall (also his speech at negative approval is so full of hypocrisy I can't listen to it without lmao now).

And Sera.

Everyone else is pretty cool though.

Vivienne, Cassandra, and Josephine.  Don't really care much for any of them.

Out of all the companions, I despise Vivienne. I wish there was an option to give that ****** the boot.

I have done their personal quests and I really don't find any of them interesting or useful. If there is no negative consequence, I would just as soon ignore them.

Yes, Sera is annoying and Cole, well he is just weird,  but there is something kind of engaging about them both.

I've not gotten Blackwall to negatives, what's he say?

Gameplay wise, I never bring Cole as I play on nightmare and the AI is just **** at handling DW Rogue, Cole is a walking corpse 9 times out of 10.  I remade him an archer but, Sera's better at archer even still.

Maybe Dorian... His views on slavery and the fact that he's (an upper class) Tevinter slightly rubs me the wrong way.

But as long as we keep a conversation avoiding those two topics, we might just get along.

Iron Bull grows on you if you let him. My only thing about his is that they should've given him a different voice lol You can tell that he sounds like Vega with a deeper voice by how Freddie does it. I can't stand Sera though Sera does put it perfectly about Vivienne. "She's a ****** but she knows it"

I play on hard so I should have some more leeway. I have a few mains that are assassin archers and they're deadly. As long as the AI isn't totally ridiculous I'm hoping I can use it on my DWR playthrough.

You can solo this game NM, so you need NONE of them!

I don't enjoy the company of:

Iron Bull : I like the Quanari as a people, but I strongly dislike anything to do with the Qun. After doing his "loyalty" mission, its clear that he is not a true believer of the Quanari ways and would die in the name of his Company rather than under the Qun, so what was the point in all those reports in the first place? Pick your side, its basically the end of the world for havens sake. Also playing as a Tal-Vashoth female Mage, there seems to be a really uncomfortable undertone when we talk to one and other, despite him also becoming Tal-Vashoth if you pick certain choices. I don't enjoy his VA either, probably because I did not like Vega in ME3....

Leliana: I loved her in DAO and DAII, but her character just seems extremely watered down and uninteresting compared to her in the previous games. Her faith is shaken, which is understandable but its making her seem cold and distant and the interactions with her are very limited.

Vivienne: An interesting companion but tricky, I struggle to get on with her personality even if I'm playing a ruthless character. She is not interested in the well being of Mages or the Circle, despite stating so, only that her motivations solely center in keeping her position of power. Each time I speak to her I feel like I should be holding a dagger in my hand just in case and that was probably the way her writers wanted it to be.

Blackwall: He just seems very bland....Despite being a Grey Warden, he could simply be any old grunt and still be the same thing. I would much prefer it if we could have recruited Stroud and with Cassandra being the main Tank his abilities seem sort of mute.

I always recruit all the companions but hardly speak to the ones I dont get on with.

If there are any mods (or DLC) to motivate me to start another run, I'll not recruit Vivienne, Iron Bull, Blackwall , Sera and Dorian.  I don't hate them (maybe Vivienne), but I'm either bored with or indifferent to them all.

Sera, Dorian, Blackwell, Iron Bull, Vivienne: it seems I can't get any interesting banter out of them when running around.

Conversation/personal quests wise, Sera is "The Fool" I get that, but I think her robin hood side is overplayed and her elf-who-rejects-elves side is not played enough and  Iron Bull's dialogues are very dull, can't connect with the guy at all,  Dorian is a walking cliche. Everything else is ok, imo.

I'm not too fond of Blackwall either, though I haven't really gone out of my way to get to know him in any of my playthroughs.  I think I got annoyed when he was all defensive about having killed his share of darkspawn in Ferelden during the blight and he never really did anything to make me like him better.

Leliana's kind of tough.  Like, she's all sad and angry about things, so I want someone to be there for her, but my Inquisitor doesn't really know her like that.  I feel like, every time my Inquisitor talks to her, it makes me really miss my Warden(s).

Have you taken the characters you find less interesting out with Cole?  He always manages to shake out SOMETHING worthwhile for me.

Of the companions, my least favorite were Sera and Blackwall.

Of the advisors, only Josephine seemed a little dull.

Tis strange; while I find myself disagreeing with a few of them from time to time, I still enjoy their company for the banter.

In DA II, I can point at Aveline and Fenris as companions I did not like. But that did not last; I grew to like and respect them.

In the Dragon Age series, it helps that I can form parties to humiliate certain companions.

Cole is probably the only one I really find unnerving and grating. The others have either strong personality traits that can get annoying (Solas, Sera) or dull (Blackwall, Cass at times) but at least they provide a source of amusement or use. Cole is just a creep who dies in one shot.

Hopefully he'll make everyone forget him in DA4

I can't stand Sera. Her entire personality seems based around being "TOTES RANDOM OMG". I love the idea of a character that joins the inquisition to look out for the little guy, but Robin Hood she isn't.  Honestly I find her dialogue repetitive.

I don't like Vivienne personally but I think her character is cool. Like, I disagree with her constantly, but she's still interesting.

I love pretty much everyone else. Blackwall is a bit dull, but I don't have anything against him.

Eh, some I like more than others, but they are all my allies and companions. I have a friend who plays never talking to characters she initially dislikes, and I always find that sad because talking and getting to know some of them on a deeper level is what sometimes gets me to enjoy a character I may have not really cared for at first. Of course that doesn't always happen, but then it comes down to just missing out on content which I cant stand doing either, haha.
