I have a distaste for Blackwall and Iron Bull. I never bring them with me unless I'm fighting dragons or something. It's a good thing companions almost never talk, I guess.

You have the banter bug.

They talk in some of my games (and I get the bug in others :crying: )

My least favorite characters, in order of most disliked first:

Sera. I use her ALL the time, because unlike Bull, she's smart enough to try to avoid getting hit. Her banter is kind of funny too, but in trying to deal with her one-on-one, its like talking to a bag of cats. She acts like how I felt when I hit puberty. Hated everyone one minute, hated everyone the next. If you just think of her as a teenager, it all makes sense. But its exhausting. I can't imagine trying to romance her.

Vivienne- I totally get that she's Orlesian. She likes Bull. Everyone else is just beneath her. Blackwell really tries to get along with her and she's just like the Madonna of Orlais. Too much of a superstar in her own eyes.

Cassandra- I bring her along every time because of her skills, and her banter with others is kind of amusing because she gets so indignant...but I can't imagine romancing her either. She's a weird combination of flint and extreme piety.

Solas-   He will get mad at you at the drop of a hat, but unlike Sera, he has no sense of humor. He reminds me of the singer Maynard from Tool. Even looks like him. He's a quiet diva, but a diva nontheless. Everything has to be his way or the highway. I romanced him my first play-through, and that was really difficult.

Solas is such a ****** if you get on his bad side. I allied with the Templars, Forgave the Grey Wardens (someone has to deal with the blight, we can't have all the Grey Wardens dying at once now can we?) and he hated me. I was perfectly civil to him in every conversation, but apparently he can't handle someone with different opinions. No Solas, Spirits are not people, they're spirits. They're defined by a single facet of the human experience; that doesn't make them a people, it makes them a thing, an emotion. I wouldn't call my emotions people.

All of this. ^

My least favorites are Vivienne and Sera. Sera just bothers me and is too immature and doesn't like getting called on her logical inconsistencies. Viv is just too holier than thou. I can handle the rest of them although I obviously use some of them a lot more than others.

Sera, she is so immature I can't take it. The moment she started in with "milk, milk, lemonade" I was like "NOPE" and threw up my keyboard in disgust.

I am not a fan of Dorian either. He thinks Slavery is good and the first time I met him he insulted Ferelden, dogs, wolves and my precious Teagan's home.

Vivienne to a degree. I like her fashion sense but she has 0 credit. She only opposes mage freedom because she had everything, freedom, love, power, and can't see past the end of her nose.

I find Bull overrated and his frat boy antics get annoying real fast.

The Iron Bull's use of modern slang messes with my precious immersion, but he is awesome in a dragon fight so that is pretty much the only time I bring him along. Blackwall is just kind of "meh" for me, he is the one I forget about most often.

Vivienne-Her character is actually well written. I hate her though. Can't stand how manipulative she is, the remarks she makes or anything about her. I thought I would like her based on a video I saw on Youtube before the game released but once I started using her I was hoping there would be an opportunity to kill her somewhere.

Iron Bull-Don't get why he is so popular. Has a few funny lines but does nothing for me. Also his buddy buddy stuff just seems, I duno, fake. I get the feling if the Qun told him to kill me he'd do it without a second thought.

Blackwall-His character is just too dull. Even when he's joking its just so dry.

I talk to everyone, but I prefer to travel with the "old crew" - the first three companions. Cassandra, Solas, Varric. They have great banter and great comments, too.

The downside is, their banter gets exhausted around the fourth big area, and I either have to take Iron Bull/Blackwall/someone else as a banter replacement and feel bad because I miss one of my friends(and the party isn't as comfortable with a replacement), or enjoy their company in silence.

... I'm probably overthinking this. But seriously, I think that it would be great if the first, non-optional companions had more banter. They're practically Alistair and Morrigan and Varric of DAI, after all.

Some of the characters surprised me, actually.  I didn't really expect to like Solas and Iron Bull quite as much as I do, I mean.  But other characters ...

(1) Vivienne only doesn't interest me.  I don't feel any sort of bother where she's concerned, I'm just not that interested in getting to know her better.  The other mages in the group are far more fascinating.

(2)  Blackwall sort of bored me.  And then I found out he was lying all along.  Of course, Solas was lying, too, so I can sort of overlook Blackwall's lying.  But not so much the boredom.  I even gave him the cheesewheel-shield as a way of making him a more amusing companion to have tagging along.  It didn't work.

(3)  I don't even like Sera.  At all.  In any way.  Okay, maybe where she pulls those little pranks, that was cute.  But mostly I just want to tell her to take her rude tush out of my keep.  But she stays in that little corner of the tavern and lets the minstrel sing insults at her, instead.  Argh!

I just realized my Inquisitor really only hangs with the guys.  Dorian is her bestie, Cole is her cutie-pie, Bull is her big, tough teddy bear of a bodyguard who also amuses the crap out of her, Cullen decorates Skyhold for her just by standing there, Varric comes up with awesome stories about her, and Solas only looks at her and makes her all hot and bothered.

Oh, well.  There's Cassandra at least.  So one of the female companions made the cut.  Phew!  I thought I was weird there, for just a second.

Blackwall is my absolutely LEAST favorite character in the game followed by Vivienne.

I can't take Blackwall's hypocrisy especially when combined with the fact that he is bland. it was disappointing because, based on what I saw prior to the game, I thought that I would like him.

Vivienne is just too political for my taste.

Sera and Vivienne.

Seras, because a Dalish Keeper's First who is calm, polite, respectful, reflective, and loves everything historical, magical, intellectual and elven + bratty, immature, rude, dismissive, small-minded city mouse who hates anything "too elfy," fully disapproves of saying or doing anything nice for elves (even the city elves who are part of the "little people" she claims to champion), and remains hatefully dismissive of anything magic or elf-related (won't even entertain the possibility that there might be some value in it somewhere) = recipe for mutual dislike.

Vivienne, because political, power-grabbing, pro-Circle, pro-status quo human mage =/= Keeper's First who believes mages should be free and the Chantry should be at the very least heavily reformed.

When being good friends with Blackwall leads to that story about the dog, it kind of makes me not look forward to being friends with him.

Vivienne - you know why

Blackwall - maybe, but only because he was a lying sack of sh*t who pretended to be a Grey Warden and then acted all high and mighty because he's a "Warden. "

Cole - he's disapproves of everything that that doesn't involve you executing your prisoners even Erimond. He disapproves of making that asswipe a trangquil!.

Sera is rude and closeminded, but her presence brings out some really interesting dialogue. That said, I can only bring her out occasionally as she's rather trying to be around.

Vivienne annoys me more than any companion ever, lol. I just want to punch her smug face in everytime she opens her mouth. That probably says more about me than her, lol.

Blackwall seemed like a decent, quiet guy, but then my first inquisitor couldn't even look at him. Perhaps this one will feel differently, I don't know. Making the effort to use him more and get to know him before things get real.

My first inquisitor didn't take cole out much because giving him knives and telling him to kill things seemed like a bad idea. Also, he weirded him out. This one is making more of an effort and finding him more companionable than the first would have thought. It's nice how pleased he is every time we help people.

Vivienne does not exist starting on my second PT. Well she does, but she simply never be a part of the Inquisition in my PTs.

Everytime I tried to "well let's go get ALL companions this time", she managed to overturn my decision in about 5 minutes. So reload & problem solved.
