PC Master race!
I used to be a pc player, but went console for couch comfort. With all the grief pc players have I'm actually glad to have switched. Maybe one day I'll return, but not until devs treat of players better.

PC Master race!
The true master race is one who has ascended beyond platforms and merged all of them into one super platform like some kind of weird gaming voltron.

Pretty much the same thing happened to me, Yumi. Except I barely got a successful connection test before PSN crapped out in the Inquisition title screen.
The way I see it, if this doesn't stop happening soon I'm calling customer support.

The worst part is that us dragon age die hard picked up the console in November or earlier, so there's no way we are getting a refund, which the point I'm almost at.Pretty much the same thing happened to me, Yumi. Except I barely got a successful connection test before PSN crapped out in the Inquisition title screen.

Lol I did get a refund about a week after D3 came out because of all the bullshit bugs and auction house issues and other crap. Lol I gotta thank Blizzard for that.
I mean I'm not gonna leave but I'm probably gonna shelf the ps4 for a while. All the money I would have sunk into PS4 is going to Wii U and family gaming now.
I bought PS because Sony was a video game and entertainment company first, kind of like a grown ups Nintendo.
It's a sad ****** day when I'm looking up to Microsoft for being a computer software monopolist that is experienced at locking up its **** from it's consumers, an doesn't even understand gamers.
But at least they can handle their ****** network. Well, better than sony the isn't saying much.
Whew still had some rant inside me. Time for some Mario party!
PS: you'll have to tell me what customer service is like, pretty sure that will e an entertaining story lol

On a more serious note, don't blame Sony or Microsoft. Blame those n00bcaekz that call themselves hackers

....how you can even say this blows my mind. It's like say don't blame airport security if their was a widely publicized credible threat of a plane getting bombed on Christmas, and then the plane got bombed.
Heck yeah I blame them. If they wanted to pony up the money, hardware, software, and manpower, they could manage DDOS attacks. Other games have done it with much smaller companies...

really? have you even beaten the Inquisition story mode?
i can empathize a little bit about shelving the PS4. all they even sell for it are games for neanderthals who aren't really gamers, every game case cover has a bearded man with a serious look on his face and/or gun in his hands. i am feeling some buyers remorse about it, but i guess it makes up for me not buying the PS3 at launch and just getting it years later at the end of its life cycle at a low price.
but honestly i'm sure this will clear up soon. don't shelf Inquisition just yet. after dealing with lag issues on a F2P shooter i got addicted to, i'm used to this crap by now.

Yumi - Thats a silly comparison and you know it.
Besides, I hear the Microsoft Xbox Live service is doing alright all things considering since they moved all those services to run off Azure and it's just a drop in the well there, but since I'm a PC Master Race I don't really care since we've had 0 connectivity issues here. Unless you count the number of russians I keep getting teamed up with ![]()
The crux of the matter is this; Any system can be taken down or disrupted regardless of reasonable scalable computing power. With this in mind how can you consider blaming the service provider, rather than the attacker? That makes no sense at all.
You know this of course, given your attempt at Strawman'ing.

Touche.
Your point is well made an eloquent.
I guess I still had some stupid ranting left.
I won't straw man it this time.
Can we at least agree there do exist mitigation and defense options available that Sony could have had in place?
And they intentionally didn't employ those options or the options were deployed and not implemented properly.
And that this is especially distasteful given the hack that happened in 2011. I know it was a hack and not a DDoS but still.

I've always kinda done both, depending on the game. However modern consoles have lost most of that appeal for me because they try so hard to be more like PCs, and inherited most of their flaws as a result. Constant software updates, harddisc installations, loading times, you name it. Even their prices aren't too far off from a decent PC anymore. Especially if you don't already have a high-def TV in your home to actually display all dem graphics.
And its not like games on consoles have had much smoother launches than those on PC lately. Unless its from Nintendo, and even they have had issues.

It's not ideal, and it could definitely be handled better, sure. More servers would help if they chose to go that route. Apparently Google is trying to figure out tech to avoid it to begin with, so we'll see how that ends up going as well to potentially help everybody.
But, then again, jerks are jerks, and even moreso when they can affect the most people. Once the holiday season dies down and people return to work/school, I'm sure they won't care as much about spamming servers like they are recently since it won't bother as many people who are just not available.
You'd be very rash to just abandon PS4 and Sony for a mere week of issues when most of the time it works just fine. Enjoy your Wii or Wii-U, though! I've been playing the crap out of Hyrule Warriors lately whenever PSN is down. ![]()
Perhaps we can do a few runs together when it's more stable, if you'd like?

Also, I'm extremely pleasently surprised about the civility and positivity of this thread. Sorry to start off so negative

No arguments there. Overall though for games I play it seems forum posts of grief are more often about pc and ps. This title does have its issues on xb as well though, no denying that. Lesser of X# evils I guess.

MTU unit size can vary from one location to another, and from certain hardware to another. I can't imagine a one size fits all fix will work. Placebo effect.
