I want to play a male elf. Like the lore of the elves and what this game in the series reveals about them further.

But I just can't picture that little guy with tiny sticks for arms even able to carry a staff much less wield it. Just want to take the guy to the Skyhold Kitchen and make him eat.

Even after I take the time on customization making a mature looking elf, time I see him full view I always revert back to making a Qunari or Human...

Any chance they will make a DLC mod for elf or any suggestions on role playing a starved elf?

A vegan elf clan that had a failed harvest... Sigh.. Guess i can make him OCD on collecting every elf root then?

No, you could only do that with Zevran and Fenris in DAO and DA2. Not an option in DAI, despite Solas being pretty open-minded a lot of things.

His body is one thing but the worst part is the arm bug...

It's quite surprising that Solas and Sera are the only elves who don't share the same generic elf body the inquisitor has.

Same here. I made an awesome looking elf (One of the Complexion options can give your elf stubble!) and then I got to that scene where you wake up in Haven. My god, it was horrible... "He" has no upper body. elves need to eat moar and lift heavy

I started rolling an elf but had to stop about 15 hours in. He looked ridiculous. I'm not gonna play a male elf again until I can swap his body mesh for the male human (modding is making steady progress).

As someone who's main play through is a male elf, those skinny arms are so annoying. Seriously, they were fine in DAO. Zevran looked cool as hell in armor. I think Bioware even knows how weird they look considering Solas and Sera look pretty normal compared to other elves.

I'm an Xbox user so I am at the mercy of DLC or patches. To me this is a patch issue. Really the male elves look ridiculous.

I managed to find some Scout armour for my elven rogue that had a really nice set of Scout Arms - they were big and metal and hid the wonkiness. More Fenris, less Octodad.

I like my Elf dude even though he seems so tiny and frail. That's why I focus on shoulders and up, he doesn't look half bad then.

You mean no one wants to play a house elf from Harry Potter?

So I guess I'm the only person who liked the way the male elf body looked? Good to know.

I realise that for some people the body won't match the look they're going for, but still. It did suit the Inquisitor that I created. Not everyone has the same opinion on this.

I get that, and I'm not annoyed at Bioware for making that creative decision but I want my PC to be a badass (I'm English so badarse??) Anyway, I feel the same about female characters. I modded ME3 with the "buff female Shepard" mod becuse she was so skinny out of armour. I may not work out myself but I want to believe my PC pumps iron and can wipe the floor with any enemy.

For the maker, the body of the elf quizzy is awful. I'm glad that I like the other 3 races a lot more, and won't be playing an elf in a nearby future.

I hope you get it sorted out guys.

Seriously tried again then found an elf root that had the stem thicker then the elf's arm.

They really need to fix male elf. To me this is a bug.

I didn't think the elf was bad. I gave mine a long narrow face and it all looked fine. Hilariously mine is a sword and shield elf. The upper armor upgrades fix all.

Now dwarf. I rolled one of those, saw the way they move, and promptly deleted him.

It's not just the male elves, the female elves are scarily buglike and spindly as well, but at least their arms don't look broken.

Buglike is a quality I look for in the ladies.

I understand what you're saying too. Body sliders would help, but I understand when developers say it would take a lot of resources. Honestly, I tried playing as other races and It felt strange to me. The human male body felt too bulky for the Iook I would want my character to have and being a qunari female felt disconnected too. Being an elf (male or female) or a human female seems to be the only thing that works for me. All other male races have a body that have muscle on top of their muscle, I know Elven males look way too skinny, but I can handle that a bit better than the other options presented.

It's not about them being skinny - I'm a devoted Fengirl and I loved Fenris' slender body. It's the fact that the upper arms curved inwards, which even the thinnest real life person's don't do.

Here's an old photo of Andrej Pejic - very thin, but note how the arms DON'T curve inwards!

Yeah I am holding off playing through again as I want a male elf character this time. I tried but had to stop 2 hours in because the arms are broken and he looks anorexic. Hope they patch this and buff male elves bodies up a bit.

just decided to try and make another elf... i figured i would just put up with the tiny shoulders and experience an elf playthrough...

well, i just can't stand that their shoulders are skinnier than their waste line!!!????!!! it looks absurd.

and what makes this worse is it has an effeminate effect on the character and it doesn't help that male elves don't get any facial stubble or facial hair, i really can't role play these guys... (what i mean by "RP" is it just kinda ruins my motivations for playing him...)

now let me be clear, this has NOTHING to do with being allowed to play or interact with any type of LGBT NPCs, or LGBT players, it's just my personal choice...

i have always been bugged about elves being shorter than humans and male elves not having facial hair.

i always dug Earthdawn elves, they were taller than humans, average of 6'3" and THEY FUGGIN HAD FACIAL HAIR!!!!

anyways, i would LOVE to have a patch just tweak the shoulders of elves, i would be super happy.

i mean Sera has big shoulders and even Solas has some shoulders...

between this and the arm bug, it just ruined a new character for me that i put 3 straight hours into, once he donned some shoulder-pad-less heavy armor, and looked like a fuggin tee-pee, that did it for me...

so i'm going to re-roll and play the beginning, YET AGAIN......... (whine-whine...)

I can't play with a male elf and whenever I romance Dorian, I choose human male. Then again, everytime I play a female character, it is an elf. Female elf looks just fine but the way too skinny and malformed male elf - who looks like a malnourished stick figure - doesn't appeal to me at all. Even though it's a male elf, he should still have a bit more stuffing around his bones than the female elf. Their bodies should've looked more like Solas' body.
