This question goes out to all those 2H players.. which do you prefer?
Do you rather the raw squishing power of a warhammer, the crowd controlling swing of an axe or the reach of a Greatsword?
Mostly wondering because I only ever played 2H on Origins and then I used the chasind great maul.. but there was no AOE damage in origins.. I was going to do Qunari Warrior SnSh, but the weapon sizes do not scale to match the race skeleton making the only shield useable the noble shield.. and even then the long swords look like short sword.. so 2H reaver it is.
Maul, Axe or Greatsword?

Id rather have a Maul. They are more effective and you can scream 'HAMMER TIME MOTHERF*****'s '

What I prefer? Greatswords.
What's the best? Greataxes. Specifically the Hossberg Twainer and Ornate Battleaxe.

I'd have to agree with axes being the best. Jagged Battleaxe is a pretty darn solid weapon to start with, even if you only have tier 1 materials to make it with. Pretty sure it's from the Val Royeaux schematic shop. Nice thing about it is you can stack attack and crit chance on it as well as on the haft and pommel slots. Bad thing is you get kinda spoiled being able to stack those so early, not many tier 2 schematics that allow it.

but the only decent looking one is The Last Stand looks pretty with lightning rune.
Too bad its a T2 .....I think
the T3 mauls aesthetics suck balls
The only decent great axe in terks of looks and dmg is the one you get from the wartable operations
I and like Qunari designed great swords especially the two prong one..buts it's a t1 and I only have it in mp

There are so many good looking weapons.. and so many hilts and pommels that do not line up with them.. seriously.. who's idea was it to make weapon customisation and then have hilts half an inch thicker than the blade, and half an inch thinner than the pommel at the end..

That's pretty awesome isn't it?
Need to hire some blacksmiths with eyes to work the forge methinks.
Yeah upgrades are pretty wonky, not enough attention in development but the concept is good. Shame of it all is that the stuff that would match well is rarely sold or found in the same place.

Yeah, not to mention one or two tiers below it..
Ornate greataxe for instance.. T3 blade, T1 haft, T2 Pommel..
Asala (Masterwork Serrated greatsword) T3 blade, T2 haft, T2 pommel, the pommel is thicker than the haft..
I may or may not have been adding every single schematic in the game onto my new Qunari character over the last three days.. I may or may not also only have bows and staves to go.. I also may or may not be uploading every single schematic's screenshot to my imgur account to be added onto a thread before new year..
And then you have this..

Probably axe, they look too big but the hammers are impossibly huge and the "greatswords" are actually paddles.
Sometimes I wonder if most people designing stuff for videogames have ever seen an actual weapon...

Can you imagine Iron Bull with a 5-6 pound greataxe/maul? It'd be like a walking cane for him.
But you're right, so many of them could be scaled down by half and still be massive compared to a realistic weapon.

That list has made me realize just how many great looking weapons and armors I've missed. WHERE ARE ALL OF THESE STUFFS?! ![]()

They are the RNG, of you could download cheat engine and add them manually, I do not believe in stat editing, ruins the game, but when the game is built around RNG for loot.. I feel rather obliged to say fcuk the RNG and just add what I want.

I might have to take a gander at Cheat Engine, also not too interested in stat editing but now that I've made one almost complete playthrough and haven't hardly found the majority of that list...makes me think the second will go the same way.

It depends on the Build. For DPS, though the Ornate Battle Axe has a lower base DPS, it's Offense slots are filled with cloth and fabric, giving Crit% chance and Dam. When spec'd in with any other gear that buffs Crit/Cun/Dex, your Reaver can put up much higher overall numbers than with a higher DPS weapon, but with Metal Offense slots. I mention axes first because they not only do AoE, but they are more likely to hit those annoying enemies that fall right at your feet, and seem to be almost unhittable with a greatsword. With Mauls being single target weapons, they can put up even higher numbers, but without the collateral DAM.
