Okies, so I'm level 16 now on my lovely archer and I came across this T3 masterwork armor called "scout" something which I bought from some merchant in the Hissing Wastes.  Talk about being excited!  Well, until I crafted the set and found that it looks just like every other set of medium armor that I found in the Hinterlands!  Aaagh!  Isn't there something better that I can find and/or craft?

Really, it's one thing to have a set of armor that has decent stats but it's just so much more to have a set that just says, "Yes, I will kick your arse and look darn sexy at the same time!"  Is that too much to ask?

Ok, ranting is over for now...

If you quizy is a warrior you always gonna have the scale mail look, a rogue is more the swashbuckler look and a mage well you already know. like in DA2 its locked looks, the player dont choose.

There are crafting items you can use to remove class restrictions.

There are 3 types for all classes, but they all look the same except for the pants

Dales Loden wool for Cloth, and Snouflour (sp) leather for Leather.

Personally I like the armors in Inquisition.  Bout damn time my male mage doesn't have to wear lame ass dresses.  And some of the armor styles are really cute.  I especially like the vest with wide cloth belt and what looks like a loose turtleneck.

Like this:

I also really like the leather dusters (really long coats).

I like the armors too.

Don't forget, you can also significantly alter the look of an armor by adding arm/leg upgrades. My battlemage armor started out looking a lot like the armor in Sylvanaerie's screenshot, but then I upgraded it and it got thigh-high armored boots, new sleeves, and those sweet spiky gauntlets like Hawke's Champion armor.

I also really like the shoulderpads. They give you some added bulk, something an elf Inquisitor really needs (stupid noodle arms).

Problem is you have to grind for the best schematics. Each tier makes the armor more detailed but thats only from seperated armor sets. Full armors sets change things up abit imo. Still looking for all the Free Army schematics

Yep. armors made with Silverite, Snouflor skin, and Dales Loden Wool don't have class restrictions. It isn't a bug, either. The material description specifically says it removes the class restrictions.

Well there's also the Warden armour for all classes (the mage version looks awesome) as well as templar armour and the dalish-type armours (one fo reach class, I think, but you need to be dalish and I've only found the medium set). Also, the carta armour for dwarves as well as the legion armour for dwarves.  Then there's the odd extra armour I can't recall the name of and the two basic armours as well as the tier three "inquisitor/battlemaster" suit...as far as I've seen. :)

Not a huge variety, but none look ugly, which is a big plus.

Oh and damn, forgot about the Free marcher armours, adventurer suits and orlesian suits (not the best armoured ones, but they can give good bonuses) and all that...okay, more variety than I first thought. (oh and craftable Halamishiral outfit! )

@Jellobell ,  your inquisitor looks great bioware should put her in the game as an npc.

@deebo305,  Free Army Schematics (T2)  can be farmed any one of the chests located at Grand Forest Villa "Hinterlands".  What I do to farm schematics is make a save right at the foot of a chest, then chain spam/reload and check the chest loot.  Example would be today on my new 3rd playthru (nightmare)  I camped 1 chest for about eh..... roughly 9 hours round abouts?  just to farm for T2 schematics.

I used varric/cloaked (lvl 4) cloaked my way into the villa/parked it and made a save. Then spam farmed it,  IF only 1 item spawned in the chest even if it was the exact schematic I was searching for?  I did not loot.   Only loot if 2 or more items spawn in the chest, this way the chest can continue to generate items after reloading. Its the ONLY way..... I'm able to get the schematics/weapons I like to use.

I've farmed tested for hours many many many many chests in my first 2 playthrus. There are certain chests that I have found both on my XB1 & PS4 that do infact have a greater chance to spawn a whole lot of schematics both Masterwork & Superior.  Not all vendors in each play thru had the same available schematics for sale.

Also Josephine's perk ...... based on my first 2 games, she is worthless and her ability to spawn rare schematics is garbage. There are 3 specific chest locations that I now farm on my 3rd new playthru.  At lvl 2 I ran to the chest location and farmed T1 schematics,  at lvl 4 I used varric/cloak to villa chest and farmed for my T2 schematics.  T3 will be later tonight for prob a few hours,  the chest in Emprise is located on a snowy wall uptop you have to climb the trees and hop from branch to branch to get to the chest. But this 1 chest from my previous 2 games has had an extremely high masterwork, superior T3 schematic drop rate. Also the 1k staffs to sell to vendor.

I wont touch multiplayer, reason why is because if I have to go this far to farm for single player schematics??  then why would I risk my wallet on buying chests in multiplayer. Its prob worse over there.... donno /shrug. But yeah until I see vids or read stuff about how great drops happening in multiplayer I wont even click the option.  I was burned really bad on ME 3 multiplayer and I loved to play online. The customer service from EA back then was awful, was supposed to get the collectors rifle from the code given when you buy the xbox 360 ME 3 controller. Well ..... EA customer service never gave it to me even tho I bought 2 controllers. It was about roughly 1 year later that I received an email from EA saying they found a fix for the code issue and need me to reply. But by that time I was already playing other vid games and I didn't care anymore. So .... yeah multiplayer risk on chests or codes?  No thanks!

I apologize for going off topic, but I agree that the armor selections and having to chain spam farm for schematics really sucks. But I love this game and will continue to play because there is soo much to do in DA:I.  I'm still finding stuff and quests that I never new were there, also the collector edition guide book does not list every quest. Only the story, but the side missions?  not all are listed. I'm finding more stuff on my 3rd run just from clicking a random book or letter found in game.

The drop rate tho for shields and swords on my 3rd play thru seem to be much better. I donno why but not everything now is a dagger, bow or staff, much better now on my 3rd run.  What would be awesome is if there was a massive library in game a place heavily guarded and a quest. But inside that library would be every single armor, weapon schematic available. With quests that unlock the masterwork schematics then put ultra rare armor/weapon schematics on the dragons instead of just loot.

Would like a Mass effect style armor customization. Biggest flaw of DA is the lack of Armor and Helmets. Playing as Qunari kind of sucked being more limited to Armor than the other race.

Hay hay hay.  If Bioware did not give every single character their own unique look how could you the player possibly tell them apart?  And how would all those awesome cosplayers out there know what look to use?  I mean think these things out people.

Would you mind telling me where this chest is?

I love the armor designs - all of them actually - but getting schematics is a pain. I'd do any kind of cheat to get them more reliably. Weapons schematics too btw.
