Yup, Calpernia

I'm sorry, I'm still "Samson who?"

IMO They're both good, but Champions of the Just path is better.

In Hushed Whispers is cooler as a mission, but recruiting the Templars makes for a better "nemesis" (Calpernia)

As a side note, I also felt like if the Inquisition was going to fight this magic wielding nutjob from 1000 years ago maybe warriors who can resist magic might be useful.

I go with In Hushed Whispers myself. In Hushed Whispers always seems to fit better since it gives the Inquisition an actual glimpse at what it needs to stop from happening.

That's my take as well.  Plus, time travel with Dorian is pretty amusing.

Honestly they both have good and bad. I personally think that the mages are better for helping with the breach, but the quest itself is something that I cannot get that into. Champions of the Just has a more logical quest, but the Templars make no real sense at the breach (my opinion).

Calpernia > Samson

I'd agree, but Ser Barris > Fiona.

Champions of the Just is a pretty fun quest. And you get to meet ( and potentially begin ) several hilarious war-room missions with Lord Abernache and the Goat-Thrower.

they both make the same amount of sense....

I am not overly fond of either templars or mages really so that is not an issue

Got to agree with this. Just my opinion, the overall story flows better from agreeing to talk with Fiona in Val Royeux to going to Redcliff and seeing the time weirdness and Dorian telling you that Alexius is gunning for you, giving you reason to do this mission nip the Venatori problem in the butt. The only thing you have going for the Templars is that they are being zealot jerks. Then you get a much more deadly and threatening nemesis in the Red Templars and Samson than the Venatori. Just compare In Your Heart Shall Burn and how much easier it is when you go with the Templars.

Add to that the Mages Quest adds a more interesting mechanic in the time pads, giving you incentive to position enemies and allies than just a timer in the Templar Quest. And I find the characters in the Mage Side a little more interesting, from Fiona and her desperation to protect her people forcing her to make a terrible decision to Alexius and how he can be a smug Magister but also show a human side though his son.

The only thing that gets me about In Hushed Whispers is that Back to the Future we return to the same exact moment we left... And then Alexius just gives up...? Wtf...

-Facing the envy demon in Champions is better than Alexius

-Champions is far more intense as people's lives are determined based on your performance. If you suck, people die.

-Ser Barris http://forum.bioware.com/topic/532187-ser-delrin-barris-discussion-appreciation-thread-the-model-templar/?hl=%20barris

-Calpurnia

-Abernache(if he lives) and Avvar Chief war table mission in all it's awesome glory. :D

-Dorian's appearance at Haven is better than Cole's while Cole's appearance at the war table is better than Dorian's.

Leliana killed his men in waiting and then you beat his Time Magic. Combined with his son's insistence to stop, he just decided that enough was enough.

Seeing the ruined future seemed a lot more epic.

Except that there is not much of a reason for the time thing except "the breach did it" and nothing else. not really sensical.

There are benefits and drawbacks to both:

* The Envy Demon's Fade sequence is creepy, far creepier than the Bad Future

* The dialogue is better in the Bad Future, particularly Fiona's

* Ser Barris is a great character in Champions of the Just, but he disappears after that. Fiona's eating crow does do something for me, since it punishes her for her rash actions

* Hearing Felix's story gives some pretty good feels.

* As a battle, Alexius is more fun than the Envy Demon, although I do like them both

I wish you could play both. They are good missions.

Barris doesn't disappear, he's just busy actually helping mages while Fiona just sits her lazy behind at Skyhold wasting space.

Promoting Ser Barris is awesome

I also found that very strange.  Alexius doesn't know what happened in the alternate timeline, so he shouldn't feel dejected about it.

He knows his best move didn't work and that a fight, especially with his own son siding against him, would be futile.  His surrender made sense to me.

I prefer Calpernia to Samson, but I prefer the whole "going into the future" bit as opposed to the hallucinations of the Templar sided mission.

Still, they both have their charms.  I choose according to whom I intend to make the Divine.  An unromanced Cassandra will usually mean I choose to side with the Templars, so she can become Divine.  An unromanced Leliana will become Divine for the Mages side in my playthroughs.

Am I the only one who prefers Samson as a symbol of everything wrong with the Templars and Chantry over some lackey Cory was lucky enough to find?
