Where certain elements removed so some wouldn't be offended?

Now this is a genuine question I pose as a customer, feel free to give your thought on the matter but do not attack or shame others for whatever view they may hold or for whatever they may want. This is a suggestion forum, you can ask for or about whatever you want whether it be something simple as a storage box or as extreme as turning all the characters into smurfs, whether it's heeded or not is up to the makers of the game.

Also please no mention of entitlement as there is only one ultimate truth " customers are not entitled to anything and developers are not entitled to our money" but normally both sides work together for obvious reasons.

Now to the actual point, in previous Bioware title's there was normally at least a couple of female characters that you would say are sexy, Miranda, Tali, Liara and many of the Asari from ME. Lelianna, Morrigan, Isabela and the Desire demons from Da, Desire demons being the only missing demon of the original iconic 4, hunger uses pretty much the exact same look as Sloth

I can't help but feel that any element of that has been removed or greatly reduced in ME, I've seen mention that the female characters will be changed to meet certain expectations by the lead writer when there has been nothing but praise for those that have gone before and I've seen one of the Bioware staff argue against a well known critic who's views and portrayal of gamers I find most alarming. Although I must say I was very impressed by the counter arguments from the members of this forum.

I am not here to debate about the subject nature of beauty, I am just here to inquire to whether a conscious choice was made on whether or not some of the female characters should not have a certain look.

This should NOT be that big of an issue in 2014.

Women come in all shapes and sizes. Sadly, due to technical & animation aspects, not all body types can be easily represented....but all faces can be. So not every female character needs to be a Victoria's Secret model.

This isn't an instance of what was possibly changed to supposedly appease a crowd....it's an instance of people just complaining "that the women are ugly," like they do in every other form of media in existence.

I am here to discuss the point not have it dismissed, would you argue against better toned men where asked for?

I am well aware that women come in many shapes and sizes but we don't buy fantasy games because they are a realistic portrayal. People don't watch superhero movies because they sit around in a classroom or office.

I've not seen any evidence to suggest that the design of the females were some conscious statement on female attractiveness.  If anyone has evidence, they should present it.  Otherwise, this strikes me as more pointless complaining and conspiracy theory chasing.

I still think Leliana is attractive and Scout Harding is adorable. And my bad ass mage Hawke was a total cutie in DA:I...

But... well... that's pretty much it. Cassandra isn't in her 20s anymore, she actually looks and sounds her age. Josephine is a mature woman as well. Sera has an unique face.

The characters are more realistic/believable than before and I like that. I don't think any of them are ugly... but they aren't my type either. That's mostly a personality thing though...

I agree with you on the first 2 but neither are romance interests. But it is telling that a minor character such as Harding is considered by most to be more attractive than the 3 main female love interests

Why is that telling?  Seriously, this makes no sense to me.  There's no conspiracy theory here.  Unless you have some solid evidence, this is all baseless speculation and your own subjective thoughts on attractiveness.

Well.... I think it was just pure laziness. It only took me 6 tries in the cc to make an attractive female avatar, despite the horrible hair.
Most of the issues revolved around weird makeup translations to in-game lighting and just... really bad hair.

Of course, companions have some of the best hair in the game.

That's you're view on the matter and you could be right but it would still be nice to have some confirmation as from my playthrough and some of the views expressed I believe that it was conscious and it's far from a conspiracy when many are very vocal against something as simple as bare torso on a video game cover.

They removed healing because it offends insurance adjusters.

Going by what was posted in some dev diary stuff, there's been conscious decision to have characters whose appearance would reflect their personality rather than more typical "just make what looks pretty" approach. Similarly, there's some intentional flaws put into appearances, to make the characters less generic and as such more memorable and human-like.

If i understand it right it's not limited to women in the game, but applied to characters of both genders.

I guess that means the answer to your question from the topic is: no. There's reasons but it's not so "some wouldn't be offended".

Not about the Inquisitor him/herself, I have never met a female gamer who didn't care about making there avatar attractive and just incase anyone jumps the gun I think there's nothing wrong with that, most men do the same

Is that why Cullen has those "coke addict" bags under his eyes?  Seems legit.

So where is the evidence that it's a purposeful statement on their part?  If you want to convince people that there's a conspiracy here, you have to do better than just, "A lot of people don't find the female LI's attractive and I heard a rumor that the lead writer did it on purpose....."  Give me anything.  A quote from Gaider.  An anonymous statement from a former Bioware employee.  A leaked memo that hints at it being a conspiracy.  Anything besides just your subjective opinion on the matter.

It is not impossible that BioWare tried to make sure that they didn't offend some of the very vocal, so called feminists by not putting an obviously sexy female in the game.

Although... a game company that is constantly mentioned because of the LGBT content in their games probably wouldn't care.

If they thought the plot required another Miranda, then they would have added her.

Not all about plot. Apparently Cullen was added as a love interest because he is very popular among the female fans.

I also remember reading that the Asari are intentionally a male fantasy race, doesn't stop them from having a well thought out culture and it was acknowledged in game when the Asari wondered why they where so popular at Kiosks for human customers.

I suppose more than anything it's the exclusion of the Desire Demon when the other 3 iconic demon looks still exist although with sloth now being hunger

Yknow, I wonder why there just don't seem to be any overweight/non-muscular men around as the PC or Companions.

Females do seem to come in all shapes and sizes though since Inquisition.

There is only one body type for every gender and race combo.  There are no body-type variances, never really have been in Bioware games.

I noticed the absence of Ogres, and I'm grumpy that Sloth isn't a disgusting porcupine bear, I liked Sloth, he was like Whinney the Poo mixed with Eyeore and a Cenobite.

That did make it funny when Merill had the same body and undergarments as the elvish prostitutes
