There is nothing wrong with it. I just think the standards of beauty in particular are rather limiting and pointless. Sure there's exercise, diet, and skincare, but most people will never reach the whatever standard there is. In terms of beauty, it just seems that it's really more based on luck of the draw than other types of aspirations. I guess you can go for plastic surgery -_-. Also, if you look across cultures, it's clear to me that a lot of what is considered beautiful is really cultural conditioning. Some cultures think painting your teeth black looks great. So there really is no objective standard of beauty and wouldn't the world be boring if everyone looked the same?

I think a lot of times people miss dating opportunities because what they consider beautiful is so limited. I use to only like the conventionally good looking people too, but after some self mental training, I am more able to appreciate all kinds of people. The types of looks that I like have been expanded several times. If you can get the conventionally good looking partner and have that partner be compatible with you in all other ways than sure, good for you. If you can't and still can't appreciate different types of looks, then well that sucks for you.

now good for you. I believe in the standard of beauty and not feel ashamed of it, if I can spend 1-2 hours day in a gym to gain muscle mass, any woman I dating, can spend the same time to stay in shape.

but back to the subject, I do not see anything wrong people come to this forum to ask for LI's in the next game to use something more like beauty standards, the way that has nothing wrong with people asking for more inclusion, or asking for anything else.

Well, you are talking about exercise. I don't know what your particular brand of standard is, but a lot of people cannot reach certain standards with just exercise and diet. The original topic was whether or not there's an agenda and I'm saying there probably isn't, but if there is I don't mind the agenda. A game will never please everyone. Everyone is just trying to make their voices heard.

Edit: It's also funny you mentioned exercise because every single woman in this game is in shape.

A lot of people do not like to have social and political agendas pushed in our entertainment.

If you dislike all forms of entertainment that push social or political agendas, I can't imagine what entertainment you actually enjoy.  Entertainment media (literature, movies, tv, video games, etc) have been pushing social and political agendas since their invention.  Yes, even video games.  To think that video games haven't been pushing agendas for 40 years indicates that you haven't been paying attention.  Or, more likely, that you are okay with some agendas being pushed, but only if you agree with them.

The agenda at least I believe there is, is what made this game more PG13 as I said, compare the last two games, mostly origins, we do not have desire demons. a civil war is Blowing up in Orleis, and war horrors, such as hunger, murder, robbery and rape are not touched, violence in general seems more water down. can not be, but I believe a lot of it, is the result of a politically correct agenda. I will not touch on matters of sexuality, because it tends to attract some individuals who think that any kind of criticism in this area is homophobia.

Sorry bad english.

subtlety is called, so I used the term push, because in many cases this time lacked subtlety.

Well, I guess it is toned down in terms of overt stuff, but difficult mature themes are still touched upon. There are multiple points in the game in which you have to choose between different groups sacrificing one of them. Cole's personal quest touches upon issues of identity and life philosophy. In addition, all your companions have viewpoints on political ideals that contradict each other. I think the adult themes have shifted a bit from previous games, but they have other adult themes that are more subtle to make up for it. I find that this game makes me think a lot about my choices. Moreso than previous games in which I just went with the "paragon option."

true, but I miss a more raw scenario, more in alignment with our dark age.

Whoa what? I said "might" and I never said "all men." The characters are attractive to me, just not barbie/ken-like. I just think the authors want the focus to be on personality so they didn't go with the conventional bombshell/pornstar/model etc looks which could distract from the character they want to portray. This is not to say that a conventionally pretty woman or man can't be intelligent or have an interesting personality. It's just that we have so much of that already, do we need more? I think the Bioware writers want us to appreciate different kinds of people and different types of beauty.

I would agreee with if you didn't have classic beauties/models such as Cullen, Dorian and leilana. It seems to me that there is a contradiction here somehow.

Actually, the topic is whether the women were made less supermodel-like because Bioware was afraid of giving offense.  I think the answer to that is a clear No.  They made the women the way they were because that's what they wanted to do.

You can't tell any kind of a story without an "agenda."  You have a story to tell, which means you have something you want to say, and you say it in a way that you hope makes people see a certain point or trend, etc.  Everyone has an agenda, even if it is "to live."

Well, Dorian's face looks good but I don't think mustaches are in these days. I don't get the Cullen attraction sorry. He looks like a regular dude to me. I mean, he's attractive but not classical beauty attractive. I must be the only one who doesn't like the way Leliana looks in this game. I think every character have enough "flaws" in their overall appearance to not be a typical barbie/ken doll even if they are classically attractive in other ways.

Come to New York and visit a gay bar with me.  We'll see so much facial hair (moustaches, beards, goatees, etc.) that you won't believe it.  And I love every second of this trend.  More please!

Since David Gaider's name came up (even though the visuals are created by the art team, rather than the writing team): I am very sure that he is unafraid of having some people tell him that they are offended.

Look at this forum! No matter what BioWare does, somebody will always feel offended. Too sexualized or not sexy enough, too much skin or too little skin, too much homosexual content or not enough, or the wrong one, or the wrong romance choices, or whatever: There are always players who feel slighted and will express their discontent in a very vocal fashion.

So if you are going to offend somebody anyways, you might as well go ahead and use the visuals to underline the story you are telling and represent your character's personality in an artistic way.

some of the things I mentioned were in fact about writing but in fact the appearance of women is not under the control of David Gaider.

But the "agenda" itself (note that I used quotes because believe it or not it is up to you) would be his responsibility, and I personally do not expect much of hin taking into account that as far as I know he supports Anita Sarkeesian (if I'm wrong correct me).

What can I say - you guys saved me from having to make the same points.

Only I would have probably been a lot less polite in how I phrased them.  10 hour shifts which require a 4am wakeup are hell, and so are papers on counter-terrorism in Northern Ireland.  On New Year's Eve, no less.  So I figured likes was probably a better way to go.

Newyear buttwhine would be welcome here.  All I've got is a can of red bull, some black coffee and a word limit to meet when all my points have already been made.  Happy New Year.

The more realistic the graphics get, the less you can get away with having cartoonish doll-faced, pore-less, wrinkle-free, gravity defying, perfectly coifed clone women and have it not look extremely strange and out of place, especially when the male characters all look so different and were designed with character in mind, the designer unafraid to give them wrinkles, scars, bald heads, weird facial hair, pale, sickly complexions, etc...If you have the male characters striving for variety and realism and the female characters striving for dead or alive beach volleyball that's going to be extremely jarring.
