I think they removed desire demons so that people would not be offended. Seeing a voluptous pruple woman who talks sort of slutty and walks around practically naked might offend some people.
To be honest I think it was a bad move though. Desire demons were the best of the lot, they would seduce people, not just with sex, but with power or anything else they wanted. This made them more alluring, and more dangerous, than the rest.
Oh... I agree, given the emphasis EA has for the console market.
Erm. I buy Dragon Age mainly for the storytelling and romances are a huge part of it for me. It's what I like.

I've been an avid anime fan since the 90's and "adult anime" has almost always meant porn. If you Google the term, you'll get a mixed bag of results and if you image search you will get the obvious porn results. I get your meaning now but a random person googling "adult anime" may not arrive at finding the genre you've listed as examples.

Adult anime as Seinen and Josei is not porn, it might have nudity, but it's not pornographic.. The term for adult anime that's like that and people are looking for is hentai.

I haven't seen anyone get offended by it but I have seen quite many people requesting more androgynous version or having both female and male looking desire demons. Gaider has stated that they even tried to do androgynous version in previous games but it didn't work out. I don't know why they were removed entirely in DAI : /

The original androgynous version was nixed by someone higher up ( I'm assuming a ****** obsessed EA exec but thats just my head canon ). So the nipple tassle version of the Desire Demon wasn't really what they wanted to begin with. Given that its Desire Demon not Lust Demon. So they should appear in whatever is the most desirable form to an individual onlooker.
Also, Ishmael is referred to as a Desire Demon and takes on multiple forms during the fight.
Dorian also mentions encountering male Desire Demons in the Fade.
