Red Haired + green eyes = HOT.

This is indeed the essential formula for beauty! Coppery hair cascading down her back, eyes shining like precious emeralds ... but I reseve these looks for my main chars ^^

However that only counts for females of course ... sorry male redheads, sorry Irish guys ^^

If i'm mocking anything, it's specifically the attitude of climbing on the cross the moment things become more evenly handed and no longer in certain group's favour, that used to be taken for granted. Aka should not be treated as mocking straight males, unless you for some reason believe all straight males act this way. But that'd be quite obviously incorrect.

How about we don't mock anyone for any reason?

So you say you prefer NO INVENTORY IN A PARTY-BASED RPG?

You are amazing. You are definitely the picture of a person that DA: I is meant for.

ROTFLMAO !!!

It's not really a conspiracy when the makers of Divine Divinity where pressured into changing there game cover a few months back because a woman on the cover had a bare torso, someone hide the children.

But yes it's ultimately just about having prettier female love interests

Are you referring to the cover where the male character got full armor and the female one was half naked? It's not about "hiding the children" its about being fair. Giving the man realistic armor and the women sexy armor is a double standard. Have them both show some sexy skin, or neither.

Wait, what ? Project managers (which are definitely software engineers) can often ending barely touching any code and instead bothering with architecture, management, deadlines and pile on pile on numbers requests from the higher-ups. I've a colleague who is nearly in open revolt because she's sick about not having done any programming for months actually :P

Yep.. as you go up the ladder.. you lose touch.. :D

Sexy armor is hilarious to me.  What's the point of ARMOR if you're going to leave all your vital body parts completely exposed and open for injury?  I'm not opposed to women in sexy clothing, but sexy armor is just plain impractical!

hmm... ever seen female clothes in communist Russia?  Un a t t r a c t i v e  I tell you.

I agree with you about unrealistic armours.... artists should go to boot camp to learn something about armour and combat in armour. Maybe then we can see something realistic.... or within reason..Just give me the mod tools so that I can unleash my creative talents... :D

If sexy armour is just reinforced bra and panties.. please, give me full battle gear as in Starship troopers animation series.

Men and women are different and asking that everything be the same regardless of what people want is just silly and unrealistic.

If more women wanted more men in sexy armour you can bet you're ass that someone would market it to them.

Didn't seem silly and unrealistic to the authors of the 14th Amendment.

I think it was fairly clear he was referring to the difference of preferences between genders regarding product design and marketing, not their Constitutional rights.

To answer the OP, I don't think that anything was removed to prevent anyone from being offended.  I do think, however, that character design has evolved in response to the real world.  More female gamers ARE becoming more prominent, and a lot of people are referring realism to perfection.

Personally, I do find it irritating, but not offensive, when surrounded by barely clothed nude characters whose armor SO does not protect them.  But that's because it's silly rather than any baggage.  Armor that leaves your vital areas exposed in order to make you look sexy is dumb.  That goes for men and women (I'm looking at you, Bull).

Facial features wise, I still find Cass to be an incredibly striking woman, and I do hope for more like her, and I don't really understand why some people don't find her attractive?    She is striking and is so full of character and personality.  I just love her.

Vivienne isn't romancable, but I think she's beautiful.  I guess the lack of hair is a put off, but I think it makes her look exotic.

I can see how Josephine isn't to everyone's tastes--she's a bit oddly colored (apparently I'm on crack and this is normal for olive-skin, sorry!) and her dress is awful.

Sera....honestly I think she needs to be redone.  Her face is puffy like she's just been beaten, and there's something really funky about her mouth/teeth.  More importantly, she looks nothing like ANY other elf on Thedas.

I wouldn't mind if there were a more conventionally pretty romanceable female, but I really don't feel the options are either lacking, or due to some sort of ulterior motive.

Pretty much, I edited because I gave in to nitpicking but the 14th amendment wouldn't apply as the company was from Belgium.

To the original point they caved in because they feared bad exposure

Are you kidding me?  Ladies, he thinks that the reason there are no men in sexy armor is because we don't want it!

And honestly, male or female, sexy armor is stupid.  Cover your vital bits if you're going to wear armor.  Save the sexy clothes for when I take him out of his armor.

I promise you, women like seeing sexy naked men just as much as men like seeing sexy naked women.

Just look at the book covers for any romance novel aimed at women. They must be really missing their target audience if women hate naked men.

I'm not going to get into the reasons women might be less vocal about their desires because I could write an entire essay on it.

Anyone actually listened in the relevant conversation between Vivienne and Cassandra? Hilarious! Vivienne goes something like "Cassandra darling, I love what you've done with the armour but just an advice, next time, less clank more frill." To which Cassandra goes "Thanks Grand Enchanter, but I'd rather not have arrows sticking out of my breasts" lol and I think that just about replies to the OP's initial question.

Your thesis fails because "attractive" is subjective. The developers may well have thought the characters were quite attractive, but just have different turn-ons.

There's also the possibility that they didn't give a damn whether you got a hard-on at all because they were too busy making a game.

So yeah, that Mabari won't hunt.

I agreed to everything till I reached the "Josephine is oddly colored". Where you been living? Some cave in the arctic? Quite possibly, since you think that a rather mundane Mediterranean skin colour is odd and unattractive. I'd be offended, but thankfully I'm more white than olive skinned, but still, your comment borders on offensive.

All true.

I just don't find any of the LIs in DA:I attractive. That has little to do with their appearance (although I'd be lying if I said it doesn't matter) and more with other factors, like their personality, opinions, reactions, voice/accent and so on. Leliana and Scout Harding are both attractive to me btw.

I doubt it would change anything if BioWare would change their looks to be more commonly attractive and less realistic. I still wouldn't like them. I never liked Miranda or Ashley in Mass Effect either.

That's just me of course. I don't find most women attractive but I can see their individual beauty. I understand why other people desire them.

Honestly, I could do without romance in my games, too.

DA2 Cass had a more rounded face, DAI Cass has a lantern jaw and a scar, on top of more angular facial features in general. Pretty big change, really.

"I can see how Josephine isn't to everyone's tastes--she's a bit oddly colored and her dress is awful." - So, no, she meant the skin.

I agree that the dress is rather flamboyant. Which actually fits her role perfectly.
