Go look at romance novels for women.

Go look at fanart for women.

Go look at smut for women.

And then come back with a comment that defends your point instead of just posting "NOOO NOT TRUE" to multiple women women telling you they ARE interested.

I'm am well aware of what women are into and I know that sex drives vary, in fact I believe that there's a growing market for gay erotica aimed at women which is not as grpahic as that which would be aimed at gay men but that doesn't change the fact that women have less of a sex drive on average

Yeah, olive is reserved for us super-sexy latin types (since this is the stereotypes thread obviously), you should start wearing a kimono :P Asian skin colours are definitely alot more beige though, in all seriousness.

LOL.  It could be because I'm expecting the beige (yay family), and the greenish throws me, so it seems discordant and thus unpleasant.

I don't know what women prefer, but I do know what corporations with billions of dollars worth of market research believe women prefer. If it was so obvious that women, on average, preferred to be marketed with scantily clad men, why would corporations throw away billions of dollars by doing the opposite of that?

Because they are marketing to men, not women. As I said above, look at something aimed at women, like romance novels. Full of naked male covers, and has always been the best selling genre.

The belief with games, is that if they market to women, then men won't buy it. This is starting to change, thankfully.

(Also, market research is a pile of ****...)

True. And as is their right to not like a "certain skin color", just the same is someone else's right to not like people who claim they don't like a "certain skin color". Do you *really* wanna go down that path? There's gonna by Nazis, Jews, Blacks and Hitler down that line soon enough, so I ask again. Do you *really* want to continue this line of reasoning?

Just to clarify, I don't. And that's why I never mentioned "racist" or accuse anything of the sort. I said I am *personally* feeling rather offended. I chose my wording carefully. Maybe you should do the same?

You pretty clearly intended to shame someone for their preferences. That's the whole reason why we tell people when something they say offends us. Otherwise you would have just said nothing.

And no, I don't want to continue discussing your invalid argument.

I never said it's pretty. Especially after all those sick tans. And it's got lots of downsides as well, more beige-ish/white-ish skin doesn't have huge pores and so forth. Luckily I'm on the white-ish side.

In case you missed it, me and that someone I so shamefully shamed are having a polite and friendly conversation here, which is also several grades more intelligent than your PC spaz. So... evidently... duh. I rest my case.

Eh...

You are misunderstanding something here.

Perhaps it would be better to say, "I'm not attracted to [skin color of choice]" instead of saying "I don't like [skin color of choice]". No one can influence what they find attractive, those things just are. Perhaps it is a little ignorant/naive/short-sighted to exclude people based on skin color from the pool of people you personally find attractive but there is nothing racist about it. Sexual preferences aren't set in stone anyway, it is possible that those change over time (although not drastically).

Racism is a form of discrimination and while exclusion of a group of people based on a trait might be a characteristic of discrimination, it isn't discrimination if the person in question has no choice about it. You like what you like.

Some people have a type they find very attractive (for example redheads with creamy white skin and freckles) and that's normal and completely okay. They aren't racists for liking white girls nor are they bad people because they find black girls less attractive.

For other people it's the other way around.

*shrugs* It's really not an issue. Everyone has their preferences and demanding equality when it comes to personal taste is not going to work out. ;)

Lately, I have not seen a thread like this pop up that wasn't wrapped in conspiracy angle.  I seriously can't remember the last one that didn't take that approach.

Who has placed the blame on a conspiracy or claimed there is a conspiracy?  I can't speak for other threads, having not read them, but the only place I see conspiracies being mentioned is by you and others stating similar positions.

I'm going to assume you are just being hyperbolic and instead of literally meaning "wrapped in a conspiracy angle" that you instead mean pushing an agenda.  The thing is there is an agenda, and it is related to outside political/cultural debates.  While this isn't a new thing it has recently caused a major hullabaloo in the online gaming community as I'm sure most people here are aware.  That isn't to say that people are secretly plotting and conspiring though.

I'm not gonna use a lot of labels in this post.  For one, because I'm sure everyone is aware of them without them being explicitly labeled and secondly because many of these labels are contentious, have different meanings and connotations for different people, and are used as attack words/insults.  I'm really not trying to bring any more unecessary emotional context into the discussion as it already has plenty of that.

Some people and groups feel that the sexualization of females in media, including video games, is harmful.  They feel that this causes people that consume the media to sexualize and objectify all females to the point where that aspect of femininity overpowers others.  Some of them also feel that this reduces agency for females as it reduces female's control over how they are percieved.  They would prefer to have the perception of femininity be something more in line with their beliefs.  They also feel that this can be unwelcoming for females who may also wish to view/consume/utilize the media.

One way this manifests itself when it comes to criticizing games is the criticism that depictions of female in a game are unrealistic and overly sexualized or existing just to be eye candy.  While not everyone who makes those criticisms necessarily agrees with the opinions described in the previous paragraph, it is a line of criticism that supports that agenda and those who have that agenda do make that criticism.

There is an opposing agenda as well of course.  The agenda for maintaining or increasing the level of sexualization of female representations in media, including video games.  This agenda doesn't really have any organizations that support and push it, although it has recently been defended more as an issue by other groups with other agendas that are somewhat in line with it, it is more the result of large portion of the consumer base finding it appealing and aesthetically pleasing.

Any debate that touches on social, cultural, or political topics is going to have agendas.  Multiple agendas from different sides, sometimes being very similar to each other and sometimes being radically different.  Sometimes you might have as many different agendas as you have participants in the conversation.  While it can be interesting to try and have those discussions with all agendas stripped out, a discussion among anonymous strangers on an internet forum regarding specific complaints of a specific video game that is within the context of specific events is not going to be the place where that discussion is going to occur.

The belief is that *real* men don't enjoy looking at naked men. It implies... unreality of maleness to put it politely. It's rather hilarious when you think of it.

I agree completely. That's why I made the above comment. And since this is the THIRD time I am clarifying that I said I PERSONALLY felt rather offended, I consider this the last time as well. Repetition can only go so far.

That is just silly, your saying that you believe it's ok to hate someone because they don't find a attractive, not wrong but attractive.

I'm going that route because your heavily implying that it's racist to have a preference on what you find attractive, that's disgusting

I wish I were just a little bit paler, honestly.  The beige gets a bit splotchy in winter and I can't be bothered to wear make up so I just look splotchy lol.

Men have a stronger sex drive, scientifically proven fact and something that's pretty much obvious based on myself and the men and women that I know.

What are you basing yours on?

I dare you to post links to these studies. It's simply not true.

You are looking at the outer appearance and most women are just not as obvious about these things as men are. Mostly because society doesn't want women to act that way, I guess.

I'm also basing it on my experiences with the dozens of female friends I have. Not to mention my girlfriends.

Let's for a moment assume what you say is true. I'm not sure how you could prove that, considering women have always been pressured NOT to speak about their sex drive (**** shaming and all that) when compared to men. But let's say women DO have less of a sex drive on average.

How is that relevant? You just said you admitted women WERE into things like that (but maybe on a lesser scale). So why not the sexy armor for both now we agree women do like it?

(Or here's a novel idea. Just make generally attractive characters that aren't ridiculous, and leave this type of stuff for porn...)

a) I never called anybody racist. this is the 4th time I'm saying this. you could actually try reading posts instead of ranting happily.

b ) you put words in my mouth that I didn't say and then call ME disgusting. whatever. try solving this, it sounds painful.

c) your comments shall be ignored henceforth.

d) happy new year.
