I thought I understood the skill trees, until I got an Amulet of Power for Dorian and managed to do... this.

I've somehow managed to unlock Winter Stillness without getting Winter's Grasp first. How did that happen?

It's because you have fade step, you only need one of the first tier talents to unlock winter stillness

So, if there's multiple lines coming into a skill you only need one of them to unlock? I always thought you needed all of them....

There seems to be a top-down order, like you can select an ability lower in the tree with just one line unlocked from above, but it appears you can't unlock an ability higher in the tree from below (as in going down one side of the tree and up the other).

It is indeed a top-down order, which is really annoying - there are a few cases of bottom up that I would love to have taken.

If I remember correctly you needed all of them in DA2.
