I ended up with two new sets in my most recent Large Chest.

 

I've heard that armour currently has no defensive effect, since the "DLC." Should I leave that stuff aside until the next patch? My current armour actually has a higher stat bonus, although a lower Armour Value. My guess is, that with the current bug in place, I'm better off with the higher stat bonus. Is this correct?

The better armor upgrades (ie +11/+16 main stat) are pretty rare and are very strong so if you already have them on one piece of armor its probably best to just wait. If you get a lot doubles then I would say go for whichever one you think looks better.

If you want the stats, stick with whatever you applied your best upgrades to. Beyond the bonuses you get from applying upgrades, armor doesn't do anything- the defense points are not working.

I go with what I think looks coolest anyway, I think a new armor revamp is coming sometime reasonably soon

Edit: do any armors drop that have intrinsic stats like +16 to a stat? I thought they all had just that generic +2% bonus to defense
