Hey guys I was just wondering the viability of having 2 hard targets on hard/nightmare mode. I did it in previous dragon age titles on high difficulties and it worked out well as bosses do not have enrage timers etc so the loss in dps is no big deal as you have two targets that are very tough. Also my OT usually has more dps abilities then the MT. Is it possible to run this set up on the harder DAI difficulties? It is great on Normal but so far I feel like I could run 4 mages on normal and do fine lol so I am ramping up the difficulty.

I routinely ran with myself (champion SnS) and a second warrior with SnS on Nightmare. Worked fine, good lockdown with shieldbashes and payback strikes, good mobility with lunge and slashes.  I rotated all my warriors through my party, just edged their gear towards DPS, and used their personal tree+SnS.

That said, on Nightmare with my assassin I only run with Iron Bull as a two handed reaver tank, and then two ranged dps and it works equally as well, encounters are just very fast with high damage taken on both sides.

Works fine on hard, it is to me a safer and more certain way of fighting albeit a bit slower to end fights because your SnS guys are mostly using guard creation skills not offensive ability.

Right.  Ya that was exactly the plan as usual.  I will obviously try more risky comps on subsequent runs.  Thank you for the quick responses.

Sword and shield can be specced for DPS. It won't have the highest DPS of all the classes, but it can none-the-less.

I always play with 2 tanks (Cass and Blackwall) in the party as a DW Rogue myself. I find it the best combination, actually (well Cassandra I spec more as an off-tank, really, but she still has the same aggro abilities as a full tank). Later - sometimes - I switch one for Varric that endgame becomes a beast.

As for being a tank yourself and going on with another, there's no problem at all there.

Nightmare difficulty is only really difficult (and not even so much so when you know the game a little) in the beginning. When you reach Skyhold you can practically do whatever you want. Apart very bad party compositions (and even those if you are good are still viable) you are fine with any choice you prefer.
