I think it's interesting that the fade is mutable, but spirits are defined and almost immutable. Well the real world is unchanging, while elves,qun, humans and dwarves are able to change and grow. I just thought it was an interesting dichotomy.

Indeed.. iirc the Chantry tells it as the Maker not being content that spirits in spite of all their power to change the world had no real inspiration and creativity, so he then created the other races (or at least humans) and decreed that "In your heart shall burn an unquenchable flame; all-consuming and never satisfied..."
