So I recently finished my playthrough with an Archer Artificer Inquisitor, and turn out, it's a lot fun to play and I want to share the build  :D

Here's my build:

Artificer (9)

  • Spiked Trap + Watch Your Step - 300% weapon damage and it's fun to watch enemy flying
  • Opportunity Knocks - 0.5 second CD reduction every critical hits and most important passive along with Looked Like It Hurts
  • Set Them Up - not really necessary , but requirement. +25% bonus damage on traps
  • Elemental Mines - throw out elemental mines at 50% weapon damage
  • And Take Them Down - +5% critical chance to the whole party
  • Fallback Plan - not really necessary , but requirement. great for evading enemies
  • Trick of the Trades - +10% damage and +10% status duration to the whole party
  • Hails of Arrows - 3x Leaping Shot for ~40 seconds

Archery: (5+2)

  • Death from Above - Abilities that encourage archer to climb, +25% damage max if 2 m height
  • Leaping Shot + Rolling Draw - your main abilities, 12 hit at 50% weapon damage, great combo with Looked Like It Hurts and Opportunity Knocks
  • Long Shot - in case some enemy needs to be triggered
  • Strafing Shot - requirement to full draw
  • Full Draw - excellent battle starter, +1600% weapon damage if enemy at full health
  • First Blood - +15% if enemy health is more than 80%

Sabotage (2+1)

  • Caltrops - not really necessary , but requirement.
  • Looked Like It Hurts - +10 stamina every critical hit, which is almost everytime you shot
  • Cheap Shot - since your critical chance is high, why not sundered? 6 seconds of sundered everytime critical hit

Subterfuge (4+1)

  • Stealth - pretty much mandatory abilities for a rogue
  • Evasion - 5% of chance to dodge enemy's attack
  • Evade - not really necessary , but requirement.
  • Ambush - +50 armor penetration for 6 seconds after get out of stealth
  • Easy to Miss - since you would want enemy to chase you, this is optional. 25% threat reduction, 100% if flank

Gear

  • +Critical Chance - I manage to create a 80% critical chance from all gears
  • +Cunning - Focus on Cunning instead of Dexterity
  • +Leaping Shot Ring
  • +Armor penetration ring
  • +Cunning Amulet
  • +Focus Belt/Magic Defense
  • Fade-Touch that has a chance to cast Hidden Blades and/or Pull of the Abyss

Notes

  • So basically if you face crowd of enemy you want to get their attention, set Spiked Trap, throw Elemental Mines, and do Leaping Shot. Most of the time, by doing these, you already have all you cooldown and stamina back and you'll ready for another strike. (it's fun in my opinion watching enemy enemy flying and Elemental mines explode)
  • If you fight a boss that cant be trapped by Spiked Trap, go to Stealth + Leaping Shot, since most bosses are a big target, so all of your Leaping Shot will hit. Use Hails of Arrows if necessary.
  • Bringing Varric will aid you and your whole party even (+10% critical Chance, +20% damage, +20% status duration)
  • Bolded abilities is essential ones, while italic abilities is optional ones

While leaping shot is certainly good, the right side passives from the archery tree far outclass strafing shots and higher ground. Pincushion is simply too good to really pass up end game, it's one of the strongest damage steroids in the game.

You can still have the same skill set, by making your archery tree look like this.

Long Shot

Death From Above

First Blood

Leaping Shot

Explosive shot

Pincushion
Full Draw

This retains your access to leaping shots multi hit, but forgoes rolling draw and strafing shot in favor of pincushion, which is worth more.

A suggestion.

I agree with action, seems like a fun setup but pincushion is a MUST, the damage adds up on high hp targets like dragons and bosses. I may give this a try next playthrough since I love archery and almost never see any sort of artificer builds or gameplay, I mean seriously, look on youtube, barely anything about artificers. It is a sorely overlooked specialization.
