Tactical camera - who else was a puppeteer?

I'm seeing more and more people on Youtube who play the exact opposite way I do, and always have.

I carefully made sure all four party members were constantly doing what I wanted, when I wanted. Would only let go of the radial menu once everything had been strategically chosen.

This way I still had some action going on, PLENTY of golden moments that I could capture with a screenshot or just have interesting camera angles, and could be efficient and deadly.

Naturally I was playing on Nightmare of course. But can you actually beat Nightmare without being a puppeteer?

For the most part I let the NPCs do whatever they are going to do and only micro mange when I have to. --- But then again unless I'm unlocking some of the reward items I tend to stick to Normal and only ocassionally bump it up to Hard on the PC. On Nightmare I imagine that playing the way you do is probably the only way to win without using a "soloable" build.

I play on Nightmare and prefer to set up the fight by giving the initial commands to the squadmates and then watch the carnage ;) Usually I don't need to pause the game again, if something needs to be adjusted I do it in real time. Tactics help a lot

I use the "tactical" view for most of the commands I need to issue.  It is much easier to get it right that way, in my estimation.  This is especially the case with AOE type spells or talents.

As far as beating the game without using it, of course it is possible.  But some talents or spells lend themselves to tactics much more readily than others.  And even those will sometimes be less efficient if you let the game handle them.

Aye, I have no idea how the game decides what counts as "enemy Mage" as I see odd Mana Clashes being thrown around like candy sometimes.

I prefer to make use of combat tactics, and then see how it plays out in combat...without controlling anyone other than my created character.

I think it's really fun to come up with combat tactic combinations, to see what works well and what doesn't.

Well yeah, I would let tactics take care of the mundane things like activating passives when a character goes below a certain stamina threshold, or things like Pinning Shot which didn't really have much tactical use compared to Shattering Shot.

But most of the time I was using the camera to micromanage almost everything, at a pretty constant rate.

I'm not sure though. I mean you guys MIGHT have got some battles done faster, but I was having all 4 party members kill one thing at a time for the most part, which is more efficient and might have even got me through some encounters faster than you would without using tac cam.

I have no idea how you guys could possibly manage without it on Nightmare in Inquisition, though. The AI is so incredibly stupid, the only time I can stop micromanaging is when my warrior acts like an idiot and can't turn to face a flanking enemy with Shield Wall so I have to force them to do it manually. And even then I still die due to poor mechanics, a lot.
