One of the many things that irritates the crap out of me is that I can craft a piece of armor with legs and arms with tier 3 metals and leather, and when I try to sell it to get some money (Since everything is extremely expensive) I only get 3 to 5 coin!!!! That's ridiculous! WTF is that all about? This includes weapons too.

The crafting system sucks.

They obviously don't want crafting to be a source of income.

Which is quite stupid, cause items have an intrinsic value dependent on their materials. Or double standarding. So, double standarding. Not the first time.

It's so you don't break the game economy. It's not a good design decision. But it's intentional.

Yeah, I was thinking of using up all my T1 and T2 materials because I no longer use them... but it's not worth the time.

SP games should simulate an economy. Bioware just sucks at it.

I can make a hefty living off of crafting weapons and armor in Skyrim.... I just cant seem to be able to do it in Dragon age :( In fact in Skyrim my armor and weapons becomes too expensive that the merchants can't afford my asking price.

It's not a GAME ECONOMY ffs.... game economy is a term coined for massive multiplayer games with auction houses and an ingame economy resembling a real equivalent... nobody is affected by you selling your VT at 5 gold, 500 gold or 500000000 gold in a single player game!

Yeah that's a real issue in all Elder Scrolls :/ Been having the same problem since Daggerfall. You'd think they'd learn. Oh well.

A game economy can't be that technical of a term because we need a word to refer to the economy in an SP game. The SP still needs realistic pricing.

It's another bloody stupid design choice.

Making arms and armour for re-sale should be a valid choice for income instead slaying heaps of giants.

The materials are often a pain to get anyway,

Yes and I don't think my T4 masterpiece weapon is worth only 12 gold when the equivalent purple drop sells for ~1200.

Please, really, do some research into MMOs. You'll see what I'm talking about. And secondly, pricing a tier 3 mats crafted weap at 5 coins when you get to buy equivalent mastercrafted "unique" at a gazillion is seriously not realistic pricing.

Well, it's in there in the Elder Scrolls because, honestly, until Skyrim, you were never anyone special, just some prisoner.  If you happen to be good at smithing, you make a name for yourself doing that.  But the Herald of Andraste being a renowned smith or leatherworker is kinda awkward.

Nope, you misunderstood. The problem in all ES is that merchants don't have enough money to buy your gear from a certain point onwards. That's what's being commented on.

You are right - I'd certainly turn all my T4 dragonbone armour into merch for extra gold if only I got a fair price.

until Skyrim, you were never anyone special, just some prisoner.

Really now? Guess the Nerevarine was a fraud.

Okay so why is a looted Aprentice coat worth say 20 and a crafted one worth 3 then? Same thing, only one is crafted and one looted. That isn't even right, crafted should be the same as the looted item at a "cheap" vendor. Items don't break and need repaired so, they must always be in new condition and, should sell for new price of the same or similar looted item.

It's possible that the vendors know it's a counterfeit and not a "real" Val Royeaux original

Pretty unfair. I assume the blacksmiths in the game crafted their gear themselves as well and they're selling it for more than one coin.

I sell all the old gear if I craft a better one.

Besides, the Inquisition has tons of coins in that Skyhold vault.. just like

But I agree selling the gear for a pittance is perplexing.... maybe you need the Merchants' perk(s)?
