So I started to play this game ( which is in the shadow of star citizen, but it actually a very good game) and I am completely hooked. Anyone playing ? If you love space and  sandbox/spaceship. Do yourself a favor and buy this game. I am currently in the SOL system ( my nickname being suprez) . Riding in my heavily modified viper with a double torpedo setup :P.

It's out already? Gee, time flies by. Interesting game, but I'm too occupied with other games and entertainment avenues (anime/books) to really put some time into a game like this. Will have to wait, but I'll make sure to keep my eyes on it.

I picked up this game recently. I'm also running a Viper, but mines been outfitted for a bit of trading to build up credits hanging around Eravate and surrounding systems.

You can play it in single-player, however it's worth noting that it is still an "always online" game no matter what mode you're playing in which can be a deal breaker for some people.

Yep, the only thing that's been keeping me away is playing DA: Inquisition. But now that I've finished, it's back into the black for me. Haven't been in the game since the start of gamma, should be a fun return.

The game is really more like single player with multi-player options. All 400 billion stars in the Milky Way are in the game. If you really don't want to see players, it can be done.

I was looking at this while waiting for Star Citizen.  Is it kind of like just do whatever, or is there a story with it?

Space sims are rarely about story.

I don't think it has one (though I'm not sure).

You can play in solo mode. It server side so you can jump multiplayer side or not. There's no story per se. You have faction and you can work your rank up by completing mission or special one that boost your rank up/reputation up.

Thing I wish they would add is planet landing or being able to do little thing outside of flying, but it's a great game :x

I haven't run into any sort of story so far. It's just been a do whatever you want kind of deal. It's more about making your own story in an open galaxy.

So far I've done a bit of exploring, bounty hunting, and trading. Right now I'm refining my trade routes to work on cash so I can outfit a ship better for combat.

Isn't that something they're planning for the future?

They've said it's the plan for the future to add walking around ships and stations, and eventually planets.

Is this a sequel to the old Elite and Frontier: Elite 2? Those were fun back in the day...

Looking at some video material, this game certainly looks like a modern version of the original Elite! Which is pretty awesome. Might have to get the game just for nostalgia's sake.

The video I watched had the same sort of space station with the docking port at the end rotating along with the station - the look of the whole thing was so familiar that it's quite clearly a successor to the original Elite.

Spent quite a bit of time on that game, way back when. :)

Yep. Made by half the team that made Elite and the same company that made Frontier. If you liked those games you should definitely check it out.

Kind of irrelevant to ELITE, but hilarious to EVE players.

True enough, though Star Citizen will have a single player campaign, Squadron 42, along with all off the other online stuff

I decided to sell my Viper. I got something like 250 000 credits for it ( Although I am pretty sure I wasted a lot more cheese than that on my Viper) and my bounty hunting career was over.

I got myself a Hauler( the cheap cargo-transport of the game. But upgraded to 16 tons you can make some good cheese). Upgraded his power and Shift Drive. SO I can make unladen jump of 17 LY and Laden Jump of 11.5 LY. Not so bad for some trading or exploration. I started to do some trading and for my first trip I made 14 000 in profit .

Although I am very nervous riding in the SOL system with 95 000 credit worth of cargo with all the player/pirate roaming the place. So I decided it time for me to move away from the SOL system. Something like 50-60 LY away make sense.

I am going to save up for a Transport type-six that can hold in the 40-60 tons cargo ( which cost something like a millions credit) and after this I will plan to buy something bigger. When I have enough for the Anaconda I might hunt scummy  pirate/Smuggler or maybe doing a bit of exploration with an ASP. Dunno . Or maybe I will upgrade  to the Cobra MK3 and start doing a bit of both( Transport and bounty hunting)

But by this time I hope they keep upgrading the game so I have more stuff to do than just this. Maybe guild stuff or landing stuff. Maybe they will add new ship. I hope they do add new ship. Because between 330 000 credit ( Cobra) and the transport-6 one ( 1.3 millions) there's none.

Also mining. How do you make money with mining ? It took forever to make six tons of cargo and netted me .. 1500 credit lol. So **** it. Back to trading Coffee and Gin. And Yes. My hauler got a shield. Pirate make me nervous when I ride with 16 tons of gold.

Yeah they usually have a single-player component but it isn't significant. Case in point, X series.

SC is a whole new breed though, for sure.

Only mine in pristine metallic rings. If you're not getting 25%+ palladium/gold/platinum don't bother. Shouldn't you be asking on the E: D forums? :)
