For me personally, I think Tranquility would be the worst punishment possible. I could care less about losing magic, but to lose my emotions and the ability to dream would be my greatest nightmare.

Actually, demonic possession can be forced on you. We saw it in Origins: they tortured the mages until they gave in and took the demon. It's a different kind of force, but still...

Agreed, and in case you're female then turned into Broodmother is one of the fate that's worse than death, contact the taint by being force-fed on darkspawn tissue which will mutate the victim into such abomination. Demonic possession, Red Lyrium corruption and Tranquility are also the fates worse than death IMO.

I should brought how the Qunari treat their own mages like animal up as well. Such fates is not pleasant at all.

Lyrium Addiction for inflicting lasting pain and suffering. It's one of the few reasons I like conscripting the Templars and dangling it in front of their faces.
It is like religion; it is extremely efficient at controlling and manipulating others. It fills me with a sort of sadistic glee when I think about it.

Have to say hands-down the worst fate I've seen in the game is that of the Mother, from Awakenings. Being converted into a Broodmother is bad enough, but at least the Taint destroys your mind. Being 'woken up' and made aware of what's happened to you? Jesus Christ, no wonder she went insane.
My female Warden says "At least if someone asks me 'what's the worst that can happen?' I now have an answer for them," after she stumbles away from that fight and gets over her hysterics.

Fate worse than death is: to watch your loved ones suffer and die, destroyed and betrayed, losing everything and you being utterly helpless, can't say anything else except "Why? what d xXXk is this?"
On the other, a possible come back makes best story.
Hence my Warden's "god of war" story against Howe and Loghain and The Blight.
