I bought DAO, all its DLC and Awakenings for my PC. Loved everything about DAO, excellent storyline, plots, characters, romance, Morrigan was my romanced character, the best PC game I've played in a very long time, and many times over too. Bioware, you rock for that masterpiece. I finished WitchHunt, went with my sweetie Morrigan through the gate to raise the God baby......

DA2 was almost out and I preordered it. Really excited to import my last savegame with Morrigan.....nope, DA2 was now a console game and my save game from Witch Hunt is for nothing and we're to start fresh with DA2. Okay, majorly disappointed, let down, but I played it anyway. Was now a console game, no longer a PC game, and as much as I liked Hawke and I romanced that female Elf, it just wasn't even close to the same quality of DAO and it was a very short game too. Hardly any DLC's afterwards and I bought them all. The end of DA2 left me quite disappointed and I only played it through once and I was done with it.

DA3 - Inquisition is about to come out, so this time, I did not pre order it because of DA2 and I waited to see the reviews. I've read reviews that say its great and I've read other reviews that say its a big version of DA2 and mediocre. I've read that keyboard and mouse for the PC is useless and you need a console, PS4 or XBox One with controllers now. The graphics look amazing using the new frostbite3 engine and you can explore almost anywhere, very nice. But you stll can't import your save game from DAO WitchHunt which is a major bummer. Then I read you can create a world with about 300 choices to try and copy what you did in DAO and then import that world to DA3 Inquisition and play it. Your warden is not there and morrigan does some explaining with Flemith and with the God boy child. That's cool and answers some questions and closes some holes.

Now, if my savegame from WitchHunt means nothing, my choices meant nothing, my warden is not used, why even buy DAO for DA2 and DA3 Inquisition in the first place?

I am 50/50 on this. I have the money. I could buy DA3 Inquisition right now. I have a PC and I'm not running out to buy a PS4 or XBox One. That means I game with a gamer mouse and keyboard.

Is DA3 Inquisition even worth buying since I use a PC?

I need pros and cons of this game........I'm itching to buy it, but only if its really good, thx.

It's a decent game.  Not fantastic.  I knew that going in, so I wasn't horribly disappointed.  I'd give it a 7.5.

It's worth $40 or 45, but don't pay $60+.

DA2 was a console game and you couldn't import your savegame? Huh? DA2 was released on PC as well and I imported my DA:O savegames without a problem.

If you really enjoyed DA:O and kind of liked DA2, then I am not sure you're going to enjoy DA:I since it is nothing like the the first two games.

Dragon Age Keep (https://dragonagekeep.com/en_US/) allows you to create a world state based on your DA:O and DA2 playthroughs. It worked perfectly for me so far.

First of all, the game requires serious hardware, you should be close to the recommended specs if you want to run it without trouble. Most people with older machines experience frequent crashes and other performance problems.

DA:I has a relatively short main storyline and has padded its playtime with lots and lots of time sinks, fetch quests and minor side quests. It has several MMO elements you might not like in a single player game.

The UI is terrible, the combat is simple, everything has been streamlined and dumbed down. There are no more tactics and less flexibility. It isn't unplayable but many PC gamers find it frustrating.

Why don't you read a few threads in this sub forum first? You have time. The price for DA:I will go down if you wait a bit, too.

Inquisition is even more action/console oriented than DA2. If you want a game that plays like Origins, DAI is not it.

The PC version of DA:I is a direct console port and a very bad one too.

This is hard for me to say this but I would say No. I would wait if I were you.

1. Since you are a big fan of DAO you are going to be dispointed with the combat unless you liked the combat system in DA2

2 Since you are a big fan of DAO expect there to be some disapointment with the game not meeting up to all your expectations. But it is still a good game if you can play it.

3. Since you are a fan of the romance in DAO it is likely if you play as a Male Inquisitor you will be disapointed in the romance in DAI

4. SInce you are intended to play with Mouse and Keyboard I would wait untill patch 3 comes out for this game.

5. If you don't have a high spec gamming PC do not even consider playing this game on it

I would look through the forum PC Community Concerns carefully before buying this game for PC. It maybe better investing in a PS4 or Xbox One console if you want a truly enjoyable experience playing this game right now.

I haven't been to the bioware forums in years and I love the changes, very nice.

I read that importing savegames from DAO to DA2 did basically nothing for DA2. It was almost an illusion for us DAO gamers who looked forward to importing our warden and continuing on from WichHunt which is exactly what should of happened. But, no morrigan, no flemith, no god baby, no warden, nothing from DAO savegame, an illusion for us. Waste of time.

My PC is only a few years old and will run current games at 1080p almost 60 fps no problems plus I'm still a computer nerd, not as bad today though....heh heh. Love mods.

So DA:I has a short story line like DA2.......your savegame from DAO basically is nothing for both DA2 and DA:I..........simplified UI for console gamers, no more PC, which made DAO is success in the first place.........Will read more threads, thx for helping me out, its appreciated. :-)

I really disliked the UI for DA2 because it felt very restrictive and limiting compared to DAO and my keyboard with mouse.

I think Bioware sold out for console gaming and said good buy to us PC gamers that got them started. Not cool.

I will wait then for patches to address the UI and if none are released, then I am done 100 with DA series.

I'm very disappointed with Bioware how they sold out and turned their backs on us PC gamers. Their priority is making more money, so that's the route they went, more money and it shows.

I just did some DAO playing, romancing Morrigan or Leliana and you get in the game way more than DA2 or DA:I......you just do.

I hope there is a major patch coming out soon for the PC..........or I am done with Bioware and this series. :-(   Just sad....

I liked both DAO and DA2.  I had some fun in DAI, but there is an extremely sharp decline in your ability to characterize your Inquisitor compared to how you could Hawke and especially how you could your Warden.  Even Shepard is more customizable than the Inquisitor.

Essentially, all of those side quests where you got to decide to kill people, steal, lie, lie (for good reasons), persuade, intimidate, do something really selfless, or do something really greedy, are limited to the main story, which is ~10 - 15 hours of gameplay.  The game has hundreds of side quests and you, at best, get to make a choice or express an opinion in a dozen of them (and none of those dozen are really spectacular, either).  None of the side quests use the cinemaic camera, you only get a static, detached, third person camera that you can swivel around.

When there is voice acting, it's as good as it's always been.  A lot of people complain about the male love interests.  I typically disagree with the reasoning, though I have my own.  I hope it's not a spoiler to say that Cassandra is very religious (you said you played DA2, so this shouldn't be a surprise), and the other is not a companion.  While you do get to spend an above-average amount of time with her for a non-companion character, I personally feel like romances are too awkward in these games without the implied bonding via adventuring together.

Your Keep import doesn't really affect much, though I would say it probably affects more than your DAO to DA2 import did.

The PC controls become 1000% better when you change the tactical camera to use A and D to move left and right instead of rotating left and right.  I'm so used to them now that I probably couldn't use a controller, but I wish I had started with one.  Quick save and quick load are the only really great benefits of PC controls.

In my honest opinion, the game only got such good reviews because Dragon Age 2 had such an obvious flaw (reused maps) that, once it was fixed, everyone just looked up from their clipboards, saw that the game had large environments, said "fair enough," and checked the game off as good before moving on to their next review.  They didn't understand the franchise enough to go any deeper.  They're not Dragon Age fans, they're game reviewers who had to play Dragon Age for work.  Dragon Age: Inquisition is a 9.5 generic RPG.  It is not a 9.5 Dragon Age game.

It looks like Bioware is making games look better, great gfx and sfx, amazing landscapes, but the main stories are way too short so they add many unecesaary side quests to cover that up. More simplifed, dumbed down and mainly for consoles now.

I guess my biggest beef is why build up a character, even romance someone, make critical choices in the game, have an end save game, have the option to even import it with the next game and then everything you did, is for nothing........that's what gets me going.

Very simple. Properly close off the game, no import save game OR have an import for your save game and actually uses your character, who you romanced, and the important choices you made. Simple concept really....

What Bioware does, is gives you the option to import your save game, and then goes a different route and doesn't even use anything you built up, begging the question, why even have an import option in the first place??? And why not just close off th previous game thoroughly and properly, all questions answered and holes plugged.....?

We have to use The Keep to make choices of what we did from DAO and DA2......no importing your save game, the character your made and built up, romance, etc.....and that's one of my concerns. Why do all that, have an import that really does nothing or you have to chose the things you did in DAO and DA2 in the keep.......?

Properly close off the game, DAO, start fresh with DA2, close it off or use what you saved with the import save game, DAO -> DA2 -> DAI

I might just buy DA:I for giggles becasue I have time on my hands for the holidays.......almost bored. :-)p

I bought it for PS4 and put in over 100 hours, finished almost all the sidequests and struggled through the multitude of little bugs. I was planning on buying it for the PC after all the DLC came out in one go because it's not worth it right now. Not enough story content since the main quest is so weedy. Also, there's no modding tool set I hear so it's going to take longer for the community to make extra content. Also, if you want to get a feel of the game watch some video playthroughs, they're very helpful.

I would say hold off, that's what I'm going to do. No use spending any more money on something that just doesn't feel finished.

Thx, I will do that.

So DA:I was really oprimized.....for the console controllers and not the PC like they had said........

Will watch some more game play.

I don't have the feeling that the console players are that much more happy.

With all the mods I've done to Elder Scrolls Skyrim, I will be honest, the graphics looks pretty much the same as what I've done to Skyrim.

Elder Scrolls Skyrim + mods + DA2 = DA: I

The graphics of DA:I are great. No question.

Too bad they didn't fill their beautiful new world with interesting content.

I have a ps4 copy and a pc copy. While ps4 is a smoother playing experience, it is still a great game on PC and well worth getting imo. It's a brilliant game over all.

Can you import a save game or only create a world through The Keep with the choices you made from DAO and DA2?

Angry Joe does a great review of nothing.

I hope it's not too tacky to quote myself, but:

They're not Dragon Age fans, they're game reviewers who had to play Dragon Age for work.  Dragon Age: Inquisition is a 9.5 generic RPG.  It is not a 9.5 Dragon Age game.

I don't get the impression from any of Angry Joe's reviews that he's actually a fan of any game.  And by that I don't mean, "he has an angry tone so I think he dislikes the game."  That's obviously the shtick.  What I mean is, I don't believe he passionately follows any particular game franchise, at least not based on any of the reviews I've ever seen him do, which I don't think is a method that works for franchises like Dragon Age.

It's like reviewing A Good Day to Die Hard in the context of "is this a good generic action movie circa 2013?" and ignoring the entire history of the franchise.  Then a (pardon the phrase) die hard Die Hard fan asks you if the new movie is any good, because he's seen a lot of good reviews, and you refer him to one of those reviews.

DA: I has way shorter storyline than the DA2. It's like Acts I and II from DA2.

There are lots of MMO-style filler quests, but, well, there's no real point in doing them.
