So which companions can be killed off? And how?

There's a serious lack of companions that can be killed off and my Inquisitor never even got to use their murder knife.

So I'm just wondering if any companion can be killed off and how can I achieve it?

You can leave Blackwall in jail where he's supposed to be executed. That's it, as far as I know. I'm pretty sure they're (mostly) done with the killing off characters thing. It makes it to complicated to bring them back later if they decide they want to.

If you don't like some of the companions you don't have to recruit them. The exception to this is Cassandra, Varric and Solas, they are permanent and for good reason.

Probably for the best. While its fun to kill companion members off in evil runs, it is less fun when they just bring them back. Better just to not even have the option, and kick them out of the group as a compensation. You leave character deaths to only a select few.

I prefer just being able to tell them to bounce.

Less messy for cameos too.

I do like the companions. I just like to do alternate play through where my character is more ruthless and less forgiving, in those play through, I kill off character for the sake of story or drama or tension.

Since only Blackwall seems to be murder worthy, I'll just try to get the other companions to leave by being an ass to them.

This is probably the least killing-spree Bioware game ever. :(

Not only that, but as far as I know, Blackwall, Sera, Dorian, and Cole are the only ones you can get to leave after letting them join. I thought one of the devs said that you could get everyone to leave except one, but I haven't seen anything about anyone else bailing on you. It makes sense why Cassandra and Solas would stay no matter what, but you would think Varric, Bull, and Vivienne would eventually get tired of your crap.

That's even worse. What's the point of disapproval if they won't even leave?

My thoughts exactly. I was upset about them removing the rivalry system and if that many people will stay regardless, then the approval system really is almost meaningless outside of romancing someone.

Sadly times where you could kill almost anyone (bg) or a big numbers of npc (dao) in bioware are gone.

But true master of that is Arcanum and devs even thought about that giving you a lot of alternatives so you can finish game.

I sort of miss the big issue thing.

You know, in DA:O - Is it treason or good military strategy?

DA:II - Is it terrorism or freedom fighting?

I know the discussions could get heated, but they were interesting and full of ideas.

I can understand not wanting to controversy, but you also lose the drama.

Blackwall is the only one you can actually kill, and only indirectly.

It was possible to kill off Leliana way back in DA:O and yet she ended up being strongly tied to DA:I - so I'm not surprised that the developers have made it so you can't really kill off any of the main characters. It just makes things much easier if and when we see them again in future games/DLC.

I do think we should have more ways of screwing over/exiling our companions though. Yet that doesn't have to mean death.

You do realize that can choose NOT to kill them off.

I never want my character to be sadistic or psychopath on a killing spree out to murder everyone in sight. If we can kill any companions it will have to be for the story reason, but if BioWare takes that option out just because some players feel uncomfortable even though it was always just another option and they are NOT forced to kill a companions off....that's sloppy.

Why would you want to kill your companions? I understand for evil PT's I guess but when I play a evil character I just kick em out or turn down their offer to join. Killing your companions is just...just...wrong D: Tho I really REALLY wanted to tackle Viv and punch her repeatedly whenever she'd taunt Cole. I was hoping a dialogue wheel would pop up while she was talking to Cole like that so I could tell her "BACK OFF" or "SHUT UP" or something lol, I felt a huge need to defend him.

Because I'm the boss and anyone who questions me should be executed on the spot!

Joking aside, I do it because I like roleplaying. Not every play through has to be my personal opinion. If I let everyone live, I might as well just play the same character over and over again and that would getting boring after the 2nd play through.  The conflict caused with companions by picking certain sides in DAO and DA2 was the reason to have them all along. Where's the fun if you can make any choice and nothing negative ever happens because of it?

Its too bad fake warden couldn't be left in the fade instead of Hawke/Loghain/Stroud/Alistair.

I for one like killing off companions. It's one of the reasons why I like the ME trilogy. I did a run having the memorial wall filled with names and Shepard lives. Excellent.

Agreed. Sometimes I want to poison the urn of sacred ashes, not just because everything could use a little more dragon blood, but because f*** the chantry.

Sometimes I'll do certain action just for the dialogue option. I've killed that one PoS merchant in lothering just because the dialogue option for it is, "I hear you're making a killing, me too!" That and the vapid expression on your warden's face as he/she mercs that dude in cold blood in front of templars.

I also always kill isolde. Just for the dreadful accent. TEEEEGAAAAN!

Also let's be honest, werewolves are significantly higher on the badass scale than elves. So I've been known to pull out the "kill the elves, kill zathrian" card more often than not.

Also I've killed Leliana and Wynn quite frequently as well. I shanked Morrigan in the eluvian first time too.

You know, looking back, I'm not the greatest person when I play these games. I tend to have sociopath tendencies.

The only thing I didn't care for was the loyalty system. That the same companion might die performing the same action just because he or she is disloyal just seems silly, especially Zaeed's really terrible death scene in the Citadel. Now, leaving Zaeed to burn to death, shooting Wrex in either ME1 or 3, shooting Mordin and/or Legion and even the VS, now those are some primo companion kill-offs.

I don't hate any companion thus far but I like having one "good" PT and a evil sick sadist PT.

was this attempt to mock me if so it failed terribly by simple comparing real life to fiction where you have achievement for killing 2500 enemies so trying moralizing here how killing is bad and sick in video games backfires.
