I've been using the paused, uncast, Barrier spell to explore ahead with some light, like so:

I would like to be able to cast a circle of light on the ground that stays there for a while. It should work like this:

 

- Does not take up a slot, it is a hotkey that all mages have 

- Can only have one active at a time

- Lasts 30 seconds or so

 

And if the other classes need something for this hot key

 

Warrior - A lit match that is held in hand and lasts 10 seconds

Rogue - A flare -- the area lit up is much larger, but it only lasts 10 seconds

I like this idea, though I think that the concept is we're meant to stumble around in the darkness until we find a veilfire torch.

There are torches, which aren't necessarily always veilfire; that's the flooded caves under Crestwood, yes? There are tons of normal torches in there.

It's still super dark even after all the torches are lit, though.

I like this idea, actually any torch or light spell solution would be nice, the caves are pretty tough to get around

I want a floating light spell that follows me around, I'm a competent mage after all.
