You used to be able to do that: in DA:O the stay/follow was a toggle and you could do exactly that thing. If there was a strategic position, such as a pinch-point, I'd often put the entire team on STAY and move a rogue to behind that point - maybe lay a trap too. Then my melee characters would switch to their secondary weapons (you remember that concept? Sigh), and we'd open up with ranged death on the enemies forcing their melee characters to come to me. Once they'd closed the distance then bam, back to free move and engage at will. Rogue stabby stabby back-stab.
Now we don't have the ability to have warriors carry bows, or even have characters easily stay where they're told to.
Warriors, in my opinion are experts in all combat so bows should be allowed but without the greater chance of a critical hit or something. Same with a mage and melee weapons. Gandalf used a sword. Mages could be limited to short swords and daggers while rogues could be lmited to no shields, longswords and shortswords and daggers and hatchets only. Warrriors could be restricted duel wielding but a two haded grip on a one handed sword ould be cool.
Also you have two weapon slots. Duel daggers shouldn't fill both but only ROgues should be able to duel weild that way you can still select the two daggers you use and still equip a bow making one of the unused Dpad buttons or holding down a specific button to switch equips.
In battles from DA2 pling a weapon out made you sprint, now it makes you slow. Also dodging doesn't always have to be a dive or a role but those moves are appreciated for larger AOE attacks but using the left stick to quickly strafe left or strafe-duck right or left or perhaps a timed button that allows you to dodge and counter. In Bloodbourne yu can dodge left and right without rolling if you etch some of the new footage. In the Witcher 3 you hop back or lunge forward, duck or strafe left or right, I don't think you can dodge roll anymore but you can jump and vault/climb in simple dynamic.
