You left such an important feature to be exclusive to xbox live? ROflfoflfol I thought Bioware couldn't get any more pathetic, but well done. Everyone who made the company great truly must be gone.

Returning this joke of a game without even getting to the character creator

No idea what you're talking about.  I've never owned an XBox anything, and don't need one to "customize my world" in DAI.

Your first mistake was buying it on console.

I am guessing he means something similar to that.

I am. Dragon Age 2 was garbage, but at least it was playable. This is just unacceptable.

The Keep was always an online tool.  It was only ever marketed as such.  The benefits of that are myriad.

If your device isn't online, you can't use it.

In which case you lose a core feature of Bioware's games, at least in the past 8 or so years, to impact the world across games to create your own unique character(s) and Thedas. Which is unacceptable.

It sucks that it's online only, but we've known about that for a very long time now at this point.

All you really need is to have your machine connected when you first start a new campaign anyway. It takes about 15 seconds.

In return you gain the benefit of not having borked saved imports because of borked saved files. The internet demand is not substantial. It's not requiring always online.

But do you don't need a paid subscription I don't think?

The Keep can be used to customize your world state from any computer or smart phone. Your customized world state can then be exported to whichever platform you're using to play the game. If you lack any sort of access to the Internet whatsoever then I suggest heading out to your local library or internet cafe (do these still exist?).

Wait.. are you saying you have to have Xbox live as in the paid subscription? Or just a Internet connection and the free xbox live account?

I'm not sure, but even requiring an internet connection is unacceptable for such a feature.

I'd rather have an occasional choice bug, that no imports at all. But all of that is irrelevant because Dragon Age Keep, or some version of it, could've been included on the game.

And how do I get this customization onto my xbox when I have no ethernet cable plug-ins in my room and do not want to buy a wireless adapter for my xbox?

If they're able to post here to complain about the internet requirement, I think it's safe to say that they have internet access somehow =P

Well, I'm going to assume you don't need gold for it. Since, that would make no sense. All you should have to do is hook your system up to the Internet for 5 minutes and then it's done. That's not terribly difficult even for people who live in the middle of nowhere.

No it's not, but it shouldn't be a requirement regardless. It's just poor designing and laziness on Bioware's part.

This is impractical and completely naive thinking.

The whole point of the Keep system is to future proof the series and as such it needs to be online, offline makes it dependent on disc updating which is completely dependent on the user to not be lazy.

1. Blame Microsoft, not Bioware. This is the way they run their console, you have to pay them to use ANY your own internet. So if you have an issue with that, I'll direct you to here http://support.xbox....n-US/contact-us.

2. The keep requires an internet connection only for the import, after that you do not need to be connected at all. Otherwise, how do you propose getting the world state information from the internet to your game? The keep revolves around the internet, your game even requires a constant connection in order to feed them your decisions throughout DAI.

Don't be a nugherder, you have enough of an internet connection to post here so I assume you can get to the keep.

I'm doing a no import run as my first go through to experience the default world (because I totally didn't forget to do it  ) and it's still pretty great

What do you expect? The data to fly from your device into the Xbox? I do think they should have other ways to do it, but if you have internet, shouldnt be a problem. Definitely not lazy designing, they coulve just made the Keep a checklist, not with this exquisite design.

It sounds like you have an older 360, so you probably dodged a bullet.  I've heard the 360/PS3 versions of this game are terrible.

They could be better. :(

I've got one of the older Xboxs too but I actually have an adapter for mine.

I would've preferred a straight import from game to game if a player chose to stay on the same console. However, I imagine this isn't the last game in the series but will be for last gen consoles, and so the addition of the keep to xfer data over will be a must for all console players eventually.

if you dont have internet just see if there isn't a buddy who wouldn't mind you plugging in your xbox at his house for a bit just so you can connect. Or just deal with the default world state.

Honestly there's really not an option outside of that. They can't change the way the game is right now.

I sense a disturbance in the trolls.

While I'm normally sympathetic to issues regarding Live, as being horrendously overpriced for what it is brings with it a host of issues... But someone claiming an Internet connection is an unacceptable requirement in 2014 is either looking to troll or seriously needs to drag themselves out of the dark ages.

I've got an Xbox One and I have used the keep to set my world state but have not now or ever have I held a Xbox Gold account. I seriously don't know what you are on about?
