Well, I grew up with a lot of Filipino food, so that's pretty much my favorite by default. It hasn't made anywhere near the kind of international impact that Chinese, Japanese, Thai, Indian or even Vietnamese food has had (possibly because they don't focus a whole lot on presentation, as anyone who's seen balut can attest to) but I think most of it is pretty delicious.

Yep, that's the one. I've never had it, though, and most of my family doesn't eat it either.

Well, at the risk of taking this thread in too serious of a direction, views about what is disgusting or gross are culturally local and specific. For instance, entomophagy (the eating of insects) is practiced in 80% of the world's nations; the main exceptions are Western Europe and North America. There's also a growing literature about how WEIRD people (Western, Educated, Industrialized, Rich and Democratic) are in a large number of ways the real outliers culturally and psychologically.

I ate some chocolate crickets. And some spiced ones in my seventh grade social studies class. They were good.

edit: and since I can get it in a restaurant like 5 miles from my home, it definetly counts as western food.
