The Dining Room scene, take 1

Scarlet sat at the long table observing the many guests that surrounded. At the head was Mr Salander, he had made his fortune in women’s underwear and lost a great deal there too. To his right his long time university friend, Mr Dean Grant a mysterious man who claimed to be a ex-copper from the states, but rumors placed him in the Middle East and associated him with the notorious Mr Notorious, a gun runner.

Next to Grant was Fanny. She was a ‘want a be’ actress. Mr Salander invited her whenever he invited Scarlet as a mean of reminding all that he could make or break those he wanted. With lips like hers you just know it was not the occasional extra kiss he was going for.

Mrs Peacock was just settling in, her solicitor chambers specialized in accounting, a skill Mr Salander made a lot of use of. She was late getting to the dinner, having just returned from the Cayman Islands where she was doing some retained work for Salander. Barnesworth helped her move the chair to position. “Thank you dear boy. A small aperitif before we eat, please.”

Barnesworth, with a stiff upper lip, “Yes madam.”, as he turned and nodded toward Esmeralda, the serving maid.

At the foot of the table was Mrs Salander; Sally for her close friends and she has many. “Barnesworth, a gin as well.” She was still a bit tipsy for a couple of pre-dinner cocktails.

Scarlet sat to her right, still looking at the collection of guests. Her low cut blouse exposing some impressive measures, she turned and smiled at Sally, “What has he placed on the menu this evening?”

Sally glanced at Fanny and then smiled at Scarlet. “Mad cow, I am sure. Perhaps you can find your way to my room a little later my dear.”.

Professor Polly, an archeologist and renound bargain hunter at the village market, Wednesdays, touched Scarlet on the right arm. “Who is the Tattooed Man standing behind Mr Salander?”

The Tattooed Man was a new fixture to the party. Clearly a ruffian, it was supposed that he was Salander’s newest body guard. A man cannot have too much protection after all and the Tattooed Man, if not capable physically was astatically placed to scare the hell out of anyone that got to close.

There was one open placing next to Salander at his left hand. Perhaps a late arrival was expected.

Also I'd be willing to make a separate thread for whatever this is. And set up a more structured setting and character backgrounds and such. That way we don't totally demolish this thread if anyone actually wants to continue this little party game.

If that is of interest to the six of you then just let me know and give me some time to write something out.

EDIT: I see we're already proceeding anyway.

Col. Bread strutted into the room. His dark hair was immaculately waved, permed and coifed. His lipstick was a ruby smear across his sallow lips. He wore pleather carmine low heeled pumps that did nothing to flatter his feet or add to his height. His velvet pencil skirt was in an interesting paisley green and orange pattern. He was either unaware of the eye gouging effect of his colour choices or was using it as part of a nefarious plan. The Colonel had a soldier's rigid posture but with a sultry sway to his hips. He was one of the few men in the world who could pull that off successfully and he knew it.

His dark eyes contrasted with his gold eye shadow. They glittered as he scanned the room. His firm, but supple, body promised hidden delights to be uncovered to all and sundry. He had a mouth made for soft promises and firm nibbles and throat that looked as though it could swallow anything.

The Colonel's apparently female muy thai bodyguards wobbled on their five inch heeled 'f me' pumps. A haze of white powder caught the light and sparkled ominously all around the trio.

This may be the worst thing I've ever written. Is there still time to submit for the Bulwer-Lytton award?

(Continuing from Mouse's post.)

Barnesworth cleared his throat. "Ladies and gentlemen introducing Colonel Bread. Recently returned from Madrid where he was honored for his valiant actions in the Battle of Sour Doe Hill. In which many a baker selflessly gave their lives in the up rising." Get it?

The Colonel nodded to the room and snapped his fingers. His body guards walked to the chair to the left of Mr Salander and pulled it out allowing the Colonel to sit.

"Finger of bourbon and cigar." Said the Colonel.

"Very well Sir" Barnesworth said as he went to fetch the drink.

The Colonel eyed the rest of the guests until he locked eyes with Scarlet who was leaning in to hear what Mrs. Salander was giggling and whisper to her.

"Dinner shall be served shortly, once again please do not hesitate to let me or any of the staff know who we may serve you this evening." Barnesworth made nod to Grant before retreating to the kitchen to see to the final preparations.

If this isn't the most dignified and mysterious of all internet Murder Mystery Dinner Parties. Then it all comes down on your head! And your little dog too!

You know how sometimes when your internet keeps going down you just want to walk out into the street and stop the first car that comes by and scream at whoever is in it. I’ll bet that old woman does not get lost in my neighborhood ever again.

I am only posting this one because of the box. We spent a couple of days of our honeymoon looking for a callbox like this because my wife had always wanted to grope me in one. Found it too, but not really the kind of thing you can ask a passerby to take a snap of for you.

That sounds an awful lot like a SJW kind of statement complete with statically analysis taken from the a Republican rally on controlling reproductive organs.
