Did I ever tell you about the time I(being an atheist) gave a public prayer during the ceremony of his dad's wedding?
This reminded me of an old lecture by Daniel Dennett called "The Evolution of Confusion." He mentions the curious phenomenon of preachers who are atheists. Apparently, what happens is that 10, 15, 20 years into being a preacher, they end up deciding that they don't believe in God anymore, but they can't just go to their families (who are still deeply invested in their faith) and say, "Well, that was a big mistake! Time to switch careers!" Here's a link to the lecture; it's quite long, but I found it very interesting.
