I love all kinds of museums but the only ones that don't bore me after a while are the ones with dinosaurs or other prehistoric animals in them.

So if I just paint a bunch of random lines and shapes on a canvas and then call my creation The Dinosaur, does that count? :)

I don't think that would be good enough for me.

George W. Bush: "I think we agree, the past is over."

"I may not have been the greatest president, but I've had the most fun eight years." - Bill Clinton

And the most fun part was the bribes!

Now choose your favorite president between these two!

Clinton left office with the strongest economy in decades, the lowest crime in decades and a budget surplus. Bush left office with two wars he started yet wasn't able to finish, the man who orchestrated the attacks still running free years later and an economy in the process of nearly total collapse.

If someone lying about blowjobs is the cost of Clinton's success, then we should hire a team of Monica Lewinskis to work around the clock for every president.

If you just knew the list of bribes and political abuses Clinton had done, you wouldn't praise him.

The funny thing is the economical success of Late 90s was because of semi-good relations between president and senate/congress when the goal wasn't just p*ssing off each other.

I was under the impression it was a Republican controlled congress and senate during his presidency. He had a pretty hostile crowd to work with. He combined economically liberal policies like the unsuccessful Hillarycare and tax reform that raised rates on the wealthy, with conservative social policies like the Defense of Marriage Act and "Don't ask, don't tell".

He struck a pretty good balance as a moderate and did a lot of good for the health of the American economy and standard of living, though I would have zero doubts that his palms were greased while in office.

However, I've got zero faith in Hillary. She seems to inherent all of the bad qualities of Bill, without any of the good ones. Hillary is a corporate candidate.

While I can sympathize (I'm not going to get out of here until 11 PM tonight and I've got be on a plane to visit a client at 7 AM), it's also worth pointing something out about productivity studies... they always work.

There's a famous study done in the 50's where some workforce productivity gurus decided to turn down light in the office by 10% to see if the dimmer conditions improved work. Turns out it did, productivity went up. Then they dimmed the lights more... productivity increased. Then they got it to the point of barely being able to see enough to work... people were STILL more productive.

So then they decided to turn UP the brightness, past the original levels... and productivity increased even FURTHER. Result of the study? Workplace productivity increases when you make changes to the employees experience... no matter what the change is. Work a shorter week? More productivity. Work a longer week? More productivity. Work on the roof during the winter? ...well, I have trouble thinking that would generate more productivity, but you get the point. Any change that was universal but didn't truly interfere with the employee's ability to work always seemed to increased productivity... for a time. Then things start to level out and return to normal levels. People seem to respond to change in their environment with increased productivity in the short term.

Interesting stuff. I guess shaking up the workplace a bit would help. Nothing is worst than working in what feels like a repetitive job in a dull environment. More and more companies try to do things like staff trips, parties and other things maybe at the end of the week. Even things like that would help in a job. People need to feel at home in a job, like they're part of a family because if you don't enjoy your work or workplace then you're not going to be productive.

That's why I've settled for a job that might not pay as well as the job I could do with my qualifications but it's in an environment and industry I enjoy being in. I value my happiness over a little extra wage (not to mention I'm not bringing up a family so it's not like I need to work in a job I despise for the extra cash to put bread on the table).

45 hour weeks? Weak all of you, try a 50+ week.

Work in the city, work for a firm of chartered accountants. Now look into my eyes, I'm quite dead inside.

Plus you get the enjoyment of your boss being an incompetent ******, won't be more than a year or two before I can do his job. While the senior manager is out of her depth and goes crying to HR that I'm too aggressive when challenged.

The accounts I can handle, the tax issues I can handle, he'll I've audited various companies. Incompetence and laziness I can't tolerate.

That sucks.

Gotta be honest tho, people that work in offices all sound very simmilar to me, especially in their complaints. Incompetent bosses, bad leadership, poor hours, overly emotional female co workers, etc etc. Seems like office culture just breeds that sort of stuff, part of the job. If your lucky you'll make enough to retire relatively young and not have to deal.

I count myself fortunate that I have successful parents. So long as I don't do anything stupid I'm pretty much set. I'll work because I WANT to, not because I HAVE to. Not everyone has that luxury.

I like my job, I like being an accountant.

I hate my manager because he's lazy and sloppy and I've spent the last 2 months in a new department cleaning up other people's mess so I get pissed when I'm questioned.

Well most of the other managers and accountants know what he's like one of the senior managers backs me. It's escalated to a senior management lvl as I refuse to work with him more than is strictly necessary.

And I'm still sitting out problems which are his to deal with. I got an email from the head of royalties saying may the force be with you!

I find when you like your job, it is easier to work longer hours.
