Apparently I'm gonna be in Chicago in October if anyone's around. I mean that's kind of close to Minnesota. And Jersey.
We should totes have a BSN party!
I typed "totes" I might have had one too many cocktails at dinner.
@L: but I had such a gorgeous mane as a youth!! Why testosterone?! Why??
Ask Jason Statham if he wants his high school hair back. He'd probably say no.
Enjoy how awesome you are now. And the awesomeness is high.

Jersey? That's actually where I am right now.
This is only tangentially related and admittedly long-winded, but I thought I'd mention it. I was watching this presentation by a guy named Michael Huemer on the topic of immigration restrictions; Huemer was discussing Brian Barry's argument that if the borders were opened, at least one billion people would immigrate to the US; Barry believed this because he thought that if there was a place you could move to that would make your life circumstances better, you would move there, and surely, there are one billion people such that moving to the US would make their lives better. Huemer's critique is that the first of these claims is clearly false; after all, there are still people who live in New Jersey. ![]()

Yeah, that was me. I've changed the name (it used to be "osbornep," but I changed it to match my avatar from Papers, Please). Glad to hear you're doing well in your class. ![]()
NJ does have a few things going for it; for one, the gas prices are really low. Most of my friends from out of state get pretty annoyed when I tell them what I'm paying for gas. On the other hand, I live relatively close to Camden, which routinely rates as one of the most dangerous cities in the US.

How is the C++ going by the way? I can recommend some good books on good programming practices.

It's slowed down a bit. I did a tic tac toe program (it isn't user friendly; you have to enter your moves by first specifying the row and then the column that you want to put your X or O in), and a program that runs the simple ROT 13 cipher on short messages that you enter, but teaching stuff has taken over a bit in recent weeks. I'm just about to get to pointers, so hopefully that goes well.
What books would you recommend? I have Al Stevens' Teach Yourself C++, but I found that book way too tough for someone who has no prior programming experience at all. I've also been consulting some Youtube videos and using the tutorials on cplusplus.com.
