For what I know, dwarf cannot be mage because they do not dream thus they are not able to enter fade and gain magic ability.

But dwarf inquisitor can enter fade, and his/her anchor link to fade, then why he/she still cannot be a mage?

And can't he/she use lyrium to gain power for spell casting?

Btw, It would be interesting if dwarf inquisitor can use red lyrium without corruption.

Even if the Dwarf Inquisitor suddenly became magic capable, they would be terrible mages, they wouldn't have the 15-20+ years of training to be a mage.

They would be a hende mage at best, which from my understanding aren't really capable of spells and complex use of magic they just make things go boom and thats it, also very damagerpis

So yeah no dwarf magic, cause one of the defiining things about that race is no spells, just experts on runes and crafting them has a way of making up for that lack.

Sorry for typos and errors.

The anchor allows your dwarf to open and close physical pathways to the Fade. It doesn't give him or her the connection to the Fade that allows for the magical mastery of the Mage. The dwarf Inquisitor lacks this connection just as every dwarf does.

Solas seemed really proud and ecstatic when my Dwarven Inquisitor was able to enter the Fade with him in a dream. Doubt there was any chance of becoming a mage, but you see the signs that might be changing in time. If you are already having a dwarf touch the fade in their dreams after however many generations the Inquisitor's family had being surfacers?

Cole notes that you don't have much in your even with the mark, though it does 'lift you up'.

Also, you really expect to be fluet with spell-casting just from having a green hand? Shouldn't your archers have magic then? Or the warriors cast fireballs?

In any case the Carta wouldn't have sent you over because you were the Dasher's personal back-scratcher. You're expected to be combat-ready to start with.

Oh which reminds me, can't recall something, but how did that one war table mission end when  your dwarven artifcerwants to go to the fade.

That's pretty cool that they address it.  I wanted to do a dwarven warrior playthrough after my mage, but I wasn't sure it would make sense.

Because since the invention of Dwarves one of their fundamental defining features is that they cannot do magic. Except runes but they don't count.

I do like "damagerpis" though. Pronounces "damager ******" in my head. Seems like a word Sera would make up.

Dwarves can't be mages out of fairness for the other races. If they could, then why would you ever play any other race? You just wouldn't. Nods.

It would make for an interesting playthrough though, bumbling through your adventures.

I bet Cullen would post a permanent templar personal guard so they can negate our magic so we don't accedently put skyhold on fire x)

Dwarves can dream--if they become a Grey Warden. Oghren dreamt in Awakening and he told you about it (the dream is not even related to darkspawns). It wasn't a retcon, he did say that dwarves don't dream if you take him to the fade in the black marshes.

Indeed. Dwarves have the types of dreams we have. Normal ones, as opposed to dreams in the Fade.

That said, The Warden had a dream that seemed to take place in the Fade. It involved Urthemiel and could be unrelated but it also seemed to be in the Fade based on the landscape in the background.

It's already silly enough that they can be templars and cast spell like powers in way.. Or be a Carta thug who gets revered as Andraste's herald.... and no one says "Wait a minute.. This can't be right. This is off".

So make them mages while we're at it! And give them a flying pony too. Just because.

And when someone complains about the dwarven mage, call them a racist. That always works.

Dwarves with those dancing, batton-twirling, mage animations would be hilarious though.

Makes as much sense as a qunari mercenary or a dalish elf who believes in elvhen gods ... or any mage

Dwarves should design golems based off Shale - but who can fire lightning, fire etc - and produce other magic effects.

Then "Dwarven Mages" will be golems and it would be awesome (especially since Dagna should become a paragon for creating them)
