imo you should tweak the system a bit - companions mostly only get (dis)approval when they are IN the active party...this encourages you to keep the same companions in the party and not switch often (as i think you should and the devs want you too)...
I think you should find solutions for that either by giving other options to gain approval or by implementing a system of diminishing returns (e.g. the longer you keep a party member in the party, the less (dis)approval he has for certain decisions...?
