I have sorted a couple of bugs with the use of google, but I just cant find my way around this one:

I just finished my quest with Sa'Sani "Sabotage" When you go to the camp to send a message trough the portal.

So point is I already

got the blood

had it examined

Went and kill the guy who did the poisoning

And when I return to speak to Sa'Sani and tell her about it the game crashes right after she says something like "How did you find out?!" Whatever reply from whatever character I pick after that...BOOM! game crashes..I already tried the following:

- Emptied overide folder (only thing I had was a fix for nimbre's quest

- Changed all the video options to low, shadows disabled and such (had it all on high)

- Tried it with windowed mode (was originally playing full screen)

- Restarted my computer (duh...)

- Changed the audio settings

- Used a previous save, god_mod/ed my way back to that quest as quick as I could and tried again

- Deleted the G_X2.Z file from my save folder and replaced it with one of a really old save.

- Tried speaking with SaSani with DebugMode on

- Dumped my other characters in the tabern with the log book.

And with any and all of those changes I still get the crash in the exact same way, the game freezes for a couple of seconds and then "Boom!" Never winter nights has stopped working.

I'm using Windows Vista 7 Ultimate

4gbram

newest drivers of video Geforce gtx260m

with a clean install of nwn2, mob and soz up to the latest patch(I installed a mod to add more prestige classes but I had to remove it because it was causing problems when trying to get in to some places from the map)

Any recommendations?

This expansion is nowhere as good as MoB but I'd still like to finish it ;_; And I would rather not start again because I did a shitload of sidequests before doing this one (Every sidequest I could find in the map..)

I haven't experienced anything like this, but I would check the conversation in the toolset to see what script(s) and/or sound files the game is trying to run or play on that particular node.  If nothing else, the quest settings and any other variables can be set manually to get past that spot.

It's supposed to continue the cutscene there;  Volo says "caution, Lady Sa'sani, someone approaches" and the captain(?) and guards come up and threaten to arrest everyone.  It sounds like the game can't find or render the captain, or else your convo script file may be corrupt.

I had to install some old directx runtimes to get the toolset working without crashing: http://www.microsoft...s.aspx?id=19743

Is there any way to find out which of all the convo scripts is the correct one without having to open one by one? sorry I have never used this toolset before o.o

wait. You just installed Dx9.c?

should work now .... if so, that's my bet.

It does work now, only I have no idea how to use it.

I know some C, c++, java and python so I can make changes to any scripts as required, I actually was taking a look at some of the spell ones

But I dont know how to find the script of that conversation, or if the conversations have individual scripts or if they are all in a single file

Or how to find what objects are used in that scene

bottom line I have no idea about how to use the toolset or about how the files, scripts and other resources are ordered or interact with each oher

i meant that the game should work, I doubt it will crash w/ Dx9c

it's *extremely* difficult for NwN1/2 to crash because of a bad conversation or script
but if you were playing without Dx9c, it's russian roulette.

ps. just load your save and see if the dialog works ( because debugging in the toolset would be intensive and probly not req'd )

I should have mentioned that.

After installing those directx runtimes I tried the game again while running the toolset (to see if it would display anything, as I told you I'm not sure how the toolset works)

And it keeps crashing

After reading your post I tried it again in fullscreen and without the toolset running and it crashed again

Other couple of details I just tried and noticed:

My main char was using a MOB class (scholar of candlekeep) so in case that was the issue I underleveled him back to lvl 1 (and again removed all the party except him before talking to her)

And I thought it could also be a particular piece of equipment my char was wearing so I got him naked

Game crashed again

However playing with the levels I did realize something that didnt happen before. When levelling my char up and selecting a class other than wizard, his appearance in the level up window doesnt changes (You know, when you select shaman, wizard, etc the clothing changes...but it doesnt in this case)

Could those bugs be related?

Maybe the issue is with the patch I installed for the additional classes. Which I installed only after all the updates, and it was only a set of folders in override and one additional dialog.TLK file in my neverwinternights folder in my documents. It caused problems as soon as I installed it (loading problems in the map) so I removed all of the files (and of course I didnt use any class or skills of that pack in any of my party)

So uh....

I didnt want to do this because for some reason the installation takes ****** ages, but I will backup my saves, uninstall all, delete all the nwn folders, install n2n, mob and then soz and try to load and go trough that conversation before applying the patches. If it crashes again I will just apply the patches again and come back tell you how it went *sigh*

ok. we can go into debugging but I'll give you my lowdown on doing a stable installation.

Install OC, run it and exit after the first dialog or so.
repeat with MotB.
backup VO_X1.zip because installing SoZ is going to delete it, then patching reinstalls it. (or just let SoZ+patching do its thing, the file is 333mb)
install SoZ ( put VO_X1.zip back into /Data if applicable ) run it and exit after first dialog or so.

patch up to v.1.23.1765

But, to debug, the first thing I'd do is rename/backup your <MyDocs>/Neverwinter Nights 2 folder structure ( -> "Neverwinter Nights 2_bak" )
- then, loading NwN2 creates a clean player-folder, no mods or .Tlks &tc.

Okay here's what I did

Backed up my nwn2 folder in my documents by changing the name of the folder

Uninstalled all

deleted folder in program files

cleaned registry with ccleaner

Turned off my antivirus before installing

Installed nwn2, ran it, and played campaign until I found a conversation in which I could reply and I did

Same with MOB

Backed up VO_x1.zip as the same filename/folder but with "copy" in the name

installed storm of zehir only to find out that it removed both VO_x1.zip AND my backup of it (it probably deletes all the files that have that string inside that folder)

Copied my last save to the new generated nwn2 folder in my documents

Ran the game and the **** CRASHED AGAIN!....no not really <,< but it looked like it was going to crash! when I clicked the dialog the game froze for a second and I was like "Duh -.-...." but then it continued and saved after that scene

Then I applied all the patches and tried that same conversation again and it worked nicely

It was probably either the nimbre patch or the one that added new classes

Although its quite a bit weird because I removed all those files and they were just overrides.... Unless they modified something else in the game just by being there.

Thanks everyone for your help. Its quite nice to see people still care about this awesome game (particularl nwn2 and motb)

That's normal.  All the inns were destroyed in the Shadow War and rebuilt using the same design by a gnomish turnip tycoon named Huard Jansen.

There should be some minor differences -- mainly that some different quest NPCs should show up at one versus another.  I suppose they originally planned to simply have the inn functions happen through conversations in those cases, but decided they needed an actual interior when they started having quest NPCs show up or meet there, and using the same interior for all of them was a budget consideration.  Still, they could have differentiated them a bit by spawning different decoration placeables and lighting for the different inns.  That could be a mod!

Well thats what I mean tchos

In the other land (the one where you start) All the inns except the first one are the same, BUT there is different people around who give you different quests and such

On this one (in the sword coast) All the 3 inns I have visited are the SAME

They all have the owner of the inn and a bard asking me to clear his name

There are five of those generic Huard Jansen's taverns.  The first two you come to are Leilon and Highcliff, and they don't have anything going on.  Two to the east are near mines and both should have someone you can talk to about mining issues.  Just hover over everyone and click on whoever has a name (there is at least one other non-named generic but uncommon character you should click on).  The fifth Huard Jansen's is far to the north and you will be sent there on a quest.

The bard will be found in each of the four southern taverns until you solve his problem - handy because you'll find him easily to tell him what you've done.
