Same here. I'm looking in the folder and I see the saves, but the ME2 configuration utility doesn't let me open them.

Similar problem as those posted above.

I had ME1 on a CD and ME2 downloaded off Steam if that helps at all.

Me too.  Ican see the saves in windows explorer, but the configurator doesn't show anything to load.  Bought ME through EA download and ME2 through steam.

Have you guys used the configure tool from the main menu before going into the game, theres an option there to locate the location of your saved games from me1 and copy so that when you use the import function in me2 it will pick up the proper file needed.

You must tell mass effect 2 where mass effect 1 save files are. Using the Launcher, go into mass effect 2 configuration. There is a "Save Game" button just under "Game". Click on that and set where your mass effect save files are.

I'm trying to import my character through the Mass Effect 2 Launcher, but the launcher app either doesn't import anything or crashes when I select my Mass Effect 1 Save games folder.

Kinda stops things dead in its tracks...

Hey,

Just to confirm, you followed the directions posted in the FAQ (http://masseffect.bi...e.com/info/faq/) under the question "How exactly does the PC Configuration Utility work with ME1 save games?", correct?

I have both games on disc and I was able to copy my character data and I have the option of importing my character. However, when I try to import him, the game goes to the loading screen and stops dead in its tracks. I have to shut my computer down manually. Not sure how to get around this.

Its not working, I click copy save files and go through documents/bioware/masseffect/save but nothing appears in this folder from this menu. But when I actually go to that file outside of the configuration tool I can see all my save files.

Any reason why it wont register those save files or will not even view them as Mass Effect save files?

I did, Don, and I appear to be missing the save files in my Mass Effect folder. Trying to locate the slippery files now.

Edit: Corrected for clarity and for being dumb.

Further Edit:  Same problem as the poster above, navigate to the folder in the mass effect 2 configuration tool and nothing appears in it.  However, if I navigate to the folder via explorer I can see all the saves fine.

Its worked fine for me. I located the same files of MS1 and worked fine. I did buy both off of steam. Which shouldn't matter since the save locations are default anyways.

I have the same issue, but my saves are not in the default location. I have ME2 from steam though. Is there a way to manually copy it over to ME2 somehow?

I might add that all I see in my original ME1 save folder is Profile.MassEffectProfile

I assume this has all the saves I made?

You can add them manually

locate your ME2 save directory and create a directory named ME1 inside that directory.

copy your ME1 save there and hopefully it should work

Hey,

Remember, the dialog that appears in the Configuration Utility is only asking for the DIRECTORY where your ME1 saved games are located, not the saved game files themselves; that generic Windows dialog does not even list files in the directory. Once the location is specified, the Configuration Utility will identify the files in the directory and copy them over to the correct location in ME2.

The launcher is the program that starts up when you double-click on the icon to start the game.
