why does the inquisitor have more xp (usually 1 lvl) than the companions? i also noticed, that different companions have slightly different xp gain...it seems not to be dependent on who is in the party...are the personal quests relevant? or what does that impact?

The Inquisitor always seems to be one level ahead of the companions. As for why some companions would be ahead of others, I found that if I explored and controlled someone other than my inquisitor, when I did things that gained XP, such as reading books, those points went to that character.
