Killed him last night by chance. I was level 17 playing on normal. I was closing fade rifts when I randomly walk into a coliseum with a level 23 dragon in the middle. Say, what the hell, let's see how fast I die, and attack.

Halo music kicks on in my head and I enter tactical mode for 10 minutes. I realized I had only done 10k damage and say 'screw it' and just hold dragon rage down on my Reaver. Kill him in under a minute. Look up on the forums that he is the strongest of the 10 dragons.

Don't even feel like playing anymore. Is restarting a game on nightmare worth it?

Oh yea! Fought the dragon with 0 potions too.

You can always reload the dragon fight and change the difficulty to nightmare to see for yourself. The ravager is the highest level dragon but it is not that much stronger compared to other dragons of similar level.

Really? under 60 seconds with only dragon rage? I dont know how much HP that dragon has in Normal mode but you did >200k damage with a reaver in under 60 seconds without potions? If accurate, I doubt you will have any problem with any difficulty.

I don't think you've quite got the hang of the game yet. You're supposed to claim that you killed it on the highest difficulty level, with no consumables, before complaining that it's too easy. That's how the epeen game is played.

I think Ravager is probably one of the easier ones as well, TBH, sure it has the highest health pool, but it doesn't fly away, doesn't post out of range and snipe, and it's add summon isn't really too bad.

One on the Storm Coast, and the last on the road in Orlais are creating the most challenge to me on Nightmare. The Highland Ravager is easier than those two, as they still live; have to try again for them.

Oops! My bad; have the names missed up a tad. The one in the Western Reaches was much easier than this one living in the arena. This one always seems to call for aid enough times to ruin my day. Every try ends up with three dead NPC's, and me attempting to evade the chase.

On a brighter note, Jar of Bees on Dragonlings works wonders the first three times....

:D

P.S. Might be the Halo music; have never played Halo....

Frankly it depends. If you focus too much on crafting, min-maxing abilities, and using OP/broken skills, you will trivialize most of the game, even on nightmare.

Personally I'd advise against judging a game just because of a single fight that you felt was too easy, playing on a low difficulty mode. But I guess to each their own.

Well there's your problem right there! You're playing on Normal and complaining that he was too easy? That's counter-intuitive. Normal mode in this game is equal to playing it on very easy. Leaving Nightmare to be a Light Hard mode. I'm sure he would've given you a much better challenge in Nightmare mode, not by much but it would've been better nonetheless.

^I would also advise against nightmare mode. I have done it, it was not hard. It was not fun, but it was not hard. Never died once because I picked my fights.. it was just one big grind cutting down characters with over boosted barriers or health, no improved tactics or resistances.. just one big endless grind. When the description says it is for masochists, they do not mean players who like long hard thought out fights, they mean players who like to sit there spamming abilities to bring down enemies like the mage with the 500,000 barrier in the storm coast that has the key to the house on the hill whilst you lock him down. It is not hard.. it is not fun. It is about as boring as the majority of fights in this game.. hell exploring the vast emptiness of the hissing wastes was more enjoyable than the nightmare grind in this game. If you enjoyed it in 1 and 2.. you will hate it in Inquisition.

I just killed that mage with a sword and board on nightmare. He was fun. It didn't take all day, but I could tell he was special all right.

I think the problem is your not using any special tactics. I mean there is a certain spell which removes all barriers instantly, and if you used it then that 500,000 barrier would have been nothing on you.

I enjoy it, and would say that having opposing casters continually keeping Barrier up is a tactical upgrade. But I skipped NM on DA2; random immunities make no sense, IMO.

Alright, well since no one else is willing to say it, I guess I'll be the first to say it, then:
I call shenanigans on all of this noise.

Let's recap:
LV17 party vs. a LV23 dragon.
No potions.
On normal.
Under a minute.
On accident.

I openly challenge get you to do it again on EASY.
Post the video.

Gauntlet thrown.

The Mighty Offense Tonic guy? That's your example? He was a complete pushover; a single assassin can burst him down in a couple of seconds with no party. A party with dispel and/or spell purge would do it even faster.

If nightmare is grindy for you, it's because it's trying to send you a message. That message is "you're doing something really wrong".

I admit I only play on hard but I dont even remember this guy, probably because he didnt even stick to the sole of my boot. If I summon the energy to play this game again I'll play on nightmare. Right now its just theraputic to come home after work and kick everybodys teeth in on hard without a thought.

True, and I agree Ravager has probably the simplest tactics of them all, that said at level 17 -> 23 the level difference damage modifier will make it a fairly tenuous fight, you can't afford to get hit much.  Or does normal not have that? Also: Technically OP's story has his kill time at 11 minutes.

Yeah, but not as reaver as the OP states and your quoted poster refers to. Potion-abusing, fof thousand cuts isn't really the leveling staff in this game. As a reaver without potions/grenades it takes a lot of time. I have arguably the best gear for a 2H reaver and on the same level on nm it lasts.

He is unfortunately not fun, he feels like your typical mmo meat puppet with nothing special or worrisome. In DA:O when I run into a boss mob, I knew I had a fight (I knew there was strong chance of ambush)... they used the same abilities as us, but they were also buffed... the encounters were scripted, tactics were required, now they feel like repetitive generic mob grinds. At first I found myself wondering if Swtor or worse Mythic had designed the combat. Just pure under whelming dps game play (no omg visuals or animations). So basically with 500k or without 500k on any difficulty setting, he is boring.

I second this. The OP is obviously trolling. I can't believe so many people are falling for it.
