Well I'm started my templar playthrough and finally got to experience this guy on Nightmare; my first character sided with the Mages.  I did this at level 7 and yea, very tough fight.  Luckily I knew it was going to be a tough fight going in, so I made absolutely sure to not waste potions before getting to him; very little opportunity to resupply in the Templar mission as well; definitely a lot tougher than the Mage one.

My first attempt he stomped me pretty fast, even 2-shotting me through about half-guard as the tank with his incapacitate and blast/fear combo.  My second attempt I came up with the strategy that worked; namely sending my Mages and Sera to opposite corners of the battlefield, while I taunted and ran for my life as the tank.  Luckily he mostly went after me, and I'd just manually barrier every time that mark appeared on my head before Envy was about to strike, then bull rush or manually run out of his fear radius.

When he did one-shot my ranged characters I was able to revive and resuscitate them while still retreating with my tank through generous use of tactical camera.

Still took all of my potions and a ton of time in tac cam to pull off.  Still, a fun fight and just felt like sharing.  Anyone else struggle with this guy?

I brought a bunch of bee grenades.  Turns out he's allergic.

lol, that would've been useful.  I tried everything from knockdowns to stuns to freezing and I couldn't interrupt him or hold him in place.

Pretty easy fight and mission for me, don't think I used even half my pots. When he turned into a giant black Inquisitor look-alike it did get a bit hairy because of the chain knockdowns, but he only does that for a little while. In his regular form you can shield wall his melee attack to stay alive pretty easily. Only played it on Hard though.

I take it he didn't do that ground teleport incapacitate move or AoE fear very much against you?  In his regular form those 2 moves combined could 2-shot my tank if no barrier on Nightmare.  You can't shield wall those either.  His inquisitor form was actually a welcome relief for me because I could actually survive a few hits and Shield wall effectively.

I guess it's luck of the draw, but he took everything I had to beat.

Payback Strike stands you back up immediately and knocks him back down, just like Terror Demons.

Huh, I couldn't get a knockdown to work on him to save my life, but maybe I was doing it wrong.  I didn't know payback strike broke incapacitate, though, that'll be useful information.

Payback strike breaks everything, it's awesome.

Actually you can shield wall those, it's just a bit tricky. On tac cam, you can see a faint red circle on the ground before he pops out, as long as you're facing in that direction you can shield wall from the knock down and the attack.

That's another cool trick, thanks.  Glad I checked here before getting too far into my tank/templar playthrough.
