For a lazy gamer like me, who pretty much just goes with whatever the AI decides when it comes to companions, Cassandra has a lot more survivability than Blackwall. Cassandra could tank dragons FFS, but every time I turned around, Blackwall was losing his guard and needed barriers/potions.

So, for me, Cassandra. I mean, I guess I could have played with the settings more, but Cassandra didn't need any micromanagement on hard, so.... ::shrugs::

Cassandra for me.

I've had better luck with Cassandra as a tank over Blackwall.  Probably helps that I gave her fade touched obsidian, and that I just like her more.

Sera, Varric, Cole and RogueQuisitor?

Most of the time or I drop Cole for Solas with Static Cage.
Makes for some very short dragon fights although it is overkill.

in my experience, cassandra just seems to look after herself better than blackwall.

Cassandra started Seeker training at six years old. And she has Fade powers granted by a spirit of Faith. She's the closest you'll get to a Spirit Warrior without possession.

She destroys Blackwall. Only companions from any of the games that could make her sweat would be Loghain with prep time or the current Arishok (Sten).

Or Shale. Possibly Morrigan. I think her versus Fenris or Cole would also come down to the wire.

I think Shale's awesome, but lore-wise, aren't golems reasonably beatable by elite warriors?

And wouldn't her Seeker powers pretty much neutralize Morrigan (magic user), Cole (demon/spirit), and fenris (lyrium tattoos)?

TBH, I think lore-wise, the people who'd have the best chance against her would be poison archer or assassin/bard types who could strike from stealth. Just MHO of course.

Honestly, while I enjoy Cassandra as a character better, Blackwall is just the better tank. I've brought them to deal with some major fights and Cassandra always uses twice as many health potions as Blackwall. There will be times she is using potions and he still has full guard.

Dear God, is this true?  BSN has near universal consensus on something?  I'm pretty sure that is one of the four horsemen of the apocalypse.

But yeah, Blackwall in gameplay terms.  Champion is just so ridiculously tanky a specialization, combined with the SnS talents.  I mean, Walking Fortress, Siege-Breaker, Counterstrike...on top of the Champion and SnS passives, just make him a one-man army.

Blackwall better tank, but boring as ****. :P

Cass still an amazing tank and Templar support, and more viable 2h dps if you want to go that route too.

Blackwall is the more effective tank, while Cassandra is the more stylish one.

I've yet to see Cass get squishy, but I've also yet to play on Nightmare. I'm only on hard. Generally, I can have a team all on faceplant and be out of potions and Cass is still standing strong with her personal potion complement untouched, her guard on full, and her health barely scratched in more or less any scenario.

I think in RP terms, Cass is just a versatile martial artist.. she could probably be a rogue if she wants (she even dresses similar to one.. and she dual wielded in DotS). I kind of want to build her with more DPS next time around, and try to give Blackwall a chance as the party's goto tank for a change.

I thought Cassandra had a thing for Blackwall at first, lol. From the dialogue, it's obvious she admires him as a grey warden.

Needless to say... I was laughing at the later dialogue exchange, haha.

They wouldn't made a pretty hot couple though, can't even lie.

Oh man Cass reaction after revelations if he had slept with her.

Oh ho ho ho.

I half wish that was in the game.

I prefer Blackwall, myself.  I haven't had a problem with either of them holding a good level of guard, however.

If you already have a 2H templar in your party: Blackwall.

If you don't: Cassandra a.k.a the buff-bot.

Really really wish Seeker was a class instead of templar.

no that would be very broken

But then again the whole lyrium burning thing was technically a power DAO templars had already

More broken than the immortal champions or the dragon age equivalent of this?

LOL. But yea, it sounds like it kinda already does the same thing. Hell, they could've kept everything the same and called it a Seeker, and I'd be happy. I just wanna be one.
