Hi folks

I have alerted EA Support that there are problems and they are working to fix this ASAP.

Man, am I glad that I have to wait for my 360 to get back. Still having to make a new gamertag, but that just gives me an opportunity to earn all that gamerscore again.

Thanks, Chris!

I have the same issue, is there an open ticket or common outage note somewhere?

Not that we have been told. It probly just too few servers handling the number of requests or they crashed and need to be rebooted or more servers to be set up to handle the load.

If the problem is that simple they need to seriously get their act together.  This isn't a indie game release, this is a game that's been nationally advertised and highly anticipated.  Extra servers should have been dedicated to handle the first day influx of registrations, DLC and other assorted stuff.

This same issue happened with Dragon Age, if I recall The servers are probably getting overloaded with requests.

I had the same problem, but for me it was a firewall issue. Unless this issue just started because after I fixed my firewall issue I was able to connect!

Indeed, it is annoying. Im skipping my biochem class for this. I hope I don't regret it by the game not working until after my class ended anyway...

Same problem here. I'm glad it's not just me. Although I'm also worried about my Cerberus network card, I entered the number on the site here!

So far the DLC experience has not been fun. lol

It really doesn't help that it gets stuck on that Please wait... section for so long. It'd be nice at least to get kicked back a little quicker saying the server is down.

It's nice that someone from Bioware has informed EA Tech Support, but why did they have to? As others have said, this game has been advertised in a big way (NFC championship game...) Why doesn't EA have someone monitoring the load on these poor machines and finding new machines from anywhere to help handle the load? Did they subcontract this out to some dude in a garage?

Now, the question is, is why is this account activation so CPU intensive? Out of curiosity, I looked at task manager and noticed that masseffect2.exe is using 80-85% of my intel core 2 duo at 3.16 ghz. That is substantial for a blank screen that says "please wait..."

If the purpose of DLC is to provide extra content and extra incentive to invest money into both Bioware and EA, I would hope that a little extra time would be spent on ensuring quality server availability during the release. Otherwise errors like this dissuade people from investing in your DLC, especially after the debacle with RTO. I know DLC is a rather new concept for companies to work with, but a more reliable method needs to be found to allow players with a legal copy of their game, to enjoy it without having to have a constant connection to EA.

QFE...I've seen MMO launches go smoother than this.  That's pathetic.

Edit: The reason EA don't have anyone on this stuff is because they are just a bunch of bean counters that could care less about anything beyond the sales.

EA = Possibly the WORST FRINKING company ever.. worse than Funcom/Failcom. How the hell does EA stay in business with such a ****ty track record and ****** poor performance?!
