Footage that I will never experience first-hand because Vivienne is a goddess and is my BFF in every single playthrough.  Even when I align with the mages, Madame Vivienne ends up coming around to my boyish charms.  She's just the best!

She expects everybody to call her by a long title (I call her "Viv") but calls everybody "darling". I just don't talk to her so she doesn't get a chance to say much to me. It think we are both happier that way.

I always get confused when people claim she disapproves of everything they do. I've never have any trouble keeping on her good side even though I'm usually pretty pro-mage/anti-Circle.

 

Anyway, I wish Vivienne would redecorate if you're on good terms with her. She has excellent style. Not everyone can pull off a hat like that.

You have to really hate the Chantry to ****** her off. Which is totally fair when people wish that. I'm just not doing it.

Honestly, I played a pretty naive, pro-free Mages, chantry-whut? elf, and she still ended up with Viv as a best friend (though Viv was shocked and appauled by Lei becoming Divine).  As long as you admit there could be problems (I mean, point blank "We just took on 200 or however mages, we're going to need people to fight magic as mages do get possessed" is a fair point, even if I wish no mages got possessed), and are moderately respectful and don't dick her around with the heart, she usually is easily enough to win over.  She totally probably talks about your character behind your back and thinks they're an idiot if they're like that, but she acts nice enough to you.

 

(I actually find it pretty hard to get disapproval from companions unless you never take them out and deliberately try towards pissing them off.  I mean, I rescued all the people in Haven, and got a Viv approves.  I mean, woo, but that's just like... doing sidequests.  You know?  Stuff you always do, pretty much.)

My pro-mage character got tons of Vivienne hate. She made fun of my clothes! And refused to talk to me about herself (saying I know enough even though we'd never talked about it). So I gave her a normal wyvern heart and she redecorated the place! 

 

My other characters have had a better Viv experience because they shared her beliefs mostly and I actually enjoyed her company. But I wish you could fire Vivienne. I hate that she can redecorate Skyhold and you can't do anything about it.

Nah.  I've played three Inquisitors.  None were believers and my qunari is vehemently, vocally atheistic.  And he and Vivienne got along famously.  He got a few major "greatly disapproves" hits along the way, but always made up for it by being open to restoring and reforming the Circles to empower mages.  She loves that.

Funny story, my husband, who doesn't play the game at all, was walking through the room during that conversation and when Vivienne greets Fiona with, "Fiona, my dear!  I haven't seen you in so long.  You look dreadful!"  He stopped and watched.  When it got to the "dementia" line, he goes, "What a ****** ******!  I love her!"  And that's why I love him.
