Vivienne is a mean and really hurtful person!
For example: I like Cole because he tries to help! And he tries as best he knows to be a good person.
But Vivienne pretty much rapes Cole emotionally every chance she gets.
And when I read this thread, I get the impression that many people, especially women, like and adore Vivienne BECAUSE she does these things to other people!
To me, Vivienne can be a real ******* sometimes. It is not that b&w - but you know what I mean!

(I mean, I am awful and an ******* at times as well, but that's beside the point!)

Did you hear one line of banter between those two because that is not how their relationship plays out at all.

That's not very nice... we are talking about a fictional video game character, ya know. Viv isn't my favorite either, but hey, she's really good at what she does. And she's not the only companion we have that can be cold, demeaning and manipulative. Or who distrusts Cole.

Holy sh**!

I never ever meant to be insensitive to anyone here! (... crap  )

I am truly sorry if you thought that I wanted to be offensive. I did not mean it that way! :?

Ahm..... OK.

Hold your breath - you are wrong! :D

Indeed!

Did you hear one line of banter between those two because that is not how their relationship plays out at all.

I played over one hundred hours in my first playthrough. From level 10 on forward I practically always had Vivienne in my party. Since I like Cole I really wanted to have him around as well. But Vivienne made that impossible! Absolutely DISTURBING dialogue! She practically tear his skin of, about him being what he is! So I never enjoyed keeping them together. And since Vivienne also offended the rest of my loyal crew - but I had the desire to keep her for the Knight Enchanter specialization on board (because in all my genius I decided to give my fem-qun-mage the necro-spec instead) - I had to listen to her joyful banter until the end. So NO! I am not very fond of her attitude!

I loved it when she killed the arrogant noble at the opening scene of her introduction in Orlais and I immediately wanted my Inquisitor to date the heck out of that woman! I did not know at the time that she is straight and also unfree and it was before I acknowledged the fact that there is no propper way to play an evil sorceress in DA:I.

... Anyways!

I did not mean to offer insult to any members here and I hope you will have lots of fun playing with Viv' in the future! :wizard:

But I will tell you Ladies this, from the bottom of my male heart:

I like Cole because he really is a good person and he always tries to do the right thing as best as he understands. And if I had to rip Vivienne's skin from her beautiful body and put her head on a spike to safe this boys soul - I would do it in a heartbeat

No offense <3

Cole also repeatedly invades everybody's memories without consent (people called it mind rape before, but that's contentious). Of all the flaws Vivienne has, being extremely disturbed by that is the one I don't really have a problem with.

It's hard to believe this is supposed to be someone who was a 'master' of the Game in Orlais when she comes across as incredibly petulant and childish when she doesn't get her way, and the fact that the writing is so biased in her favor that you can't genuinely disagree with her doesn't help, either.

yes, and reading about the short letter she sent to belittle someone for trying to get to one of the parties? dreadful and childish. could never picture her as eloquent after that, which is way before the game released.

I have a little fun fact for you. Just for giggles! Don't take it seriously though! http://forum.bioware.../#entry18004713

I will give you the link to the current / updated poll results as well: http://strawpoll.me/3146515/r

I truly think Vivienne is a great character and a fine addition to the "cast" of Inquisition. Vivienne is interesting and very unique and so on ...

But I also think she could have been "implemented" better! (I don't really know how to put this better ...)

Take care, alwaysquestions!

As much as I think Cole is nice and good, I ultimately fall in Vivienne's way of thinking. It feels like something is edging the DA world to more a more blended and distorted view of "reality".. the idea of spirit and material coexistence. Almost similar to themes in Mass Effect with AI and synthesis. I'm guessing it's just all a big metaphor for universalism or something. Racial, spriitual, material, whatever.. the idea that everyone should be the same.

In any case, I'd like to hold on to what's human as much as possible. To "enforce reality". Even Cass, who I really like, and whose job it is to "enforce reality" (Solas' words for Seeker/Templar powers) is in a state of mind during this game where her faith is a bit shaken. She doesn't warm up to Cole right away, but she is more openminded about things. She's kind of dropped reservations on how the world will end up.. or what the Inquisitor will change. Vivienne OTOH is not openminded... and I dig this about her. It's interesting... especially coming from a mage.
