I did Sera's gift quest without having Iron Bull and it didn't matter. The game simply left him out of the quest.

Qunari if you want a easier lolz'y time.

Dwarf and human if you are "meh" about it.

Elf if you want more drama.

I think Viv is required because she is the only on to make a concrete suggestion about a gift(even if she was actually being snarky about it).  Also telling Viv to her face that the Inquisitor, Herald of Andraste etc is having happy fun time with Sera the rude crude thief is what tickles Sera more than anything else.  THAT is the gift.

ok, one last question, does not recruiting other characters, such as Iron Bull, Cole or Blackwall, have any effect on the gift quest? Or is Vivi the only one you need?
