Choose 1 best female squad members:

1.) Miranda Lawson

2.) Jack (The Convict)

3.) Samara (The Justicar)

4.) Tali'Zorrah vas Neema (can't spell fourth female squad member name, sorry.)

Then choose one of best male squad members:

1.) Jacob Taylor

2.) Mordin Solus

3.) Garrus

4.) Grunt

5.) Thane Krios

First of all, my favorite female squad member is: Samara. Why? Because of her cool powers and interesting personality but I really hate when Samara demands Shepard to follow the code without romancing Samara.

Next, my favorite male squad members is Thane Krios because he had very well-concerned personality about his son. He is very attractive but dangerous. I don't like the idea when Thane becomes a assassin. So I decide not to romance him because he is assassin. That's why.

Jack is ok but I don't like about her attitude and her behavior. So, she's aggressive and powerful. I like Mordin too but not my favorite but he's awesome and cool. The one thing that I like about Mordin is he's very intelligent.

Miranda and Jack or Kasumi. I rarely ever use Samara, and as much as I like Tali, I really don't have much use for her outside of dealing with mechs/geth. Miranda and Jack, however, are easily my female power team, especially with my Vanguard. Both are very handy in all sorts of situations.

Depends what I'm doing really.  Against Blood Pack I'll generally take Grunt and Mordin for their Incendiary ammo and attacks.  Blue Suns, Zaeed for the disruptor ammo, and Garrus for the armour piercing/overload to get through defences, and also useful against mechs which they sometimes employ.  Eclipse Sisters and supporting techs, usually Miranda or Samara for biotic fun (I'm Adept) with Garrus for disruptor ammo again for the techs' Shields, and my Warp ammo to get through the Sisters' barriers.  Collectors, Grunt and Mordin again because fire.  Geth, Garrus and Tali for overload ofc, her AI hacking, and so they can spend some quality time together.   :)

Tali is very good at slowing down enemies on Insanity by sending her drone at them. It is useful against any advancing enemies since it makes them stop and shoot at it, not moving further before it is dead. It is especially useful against Possessed Collectors, since it halts their advancement for 10 seconds or so, giving you more time to kill other Collectors, so they don't get possessed after you are done with this one.

Legion's drone can be utilized in the same manner.

Kasumi tends to do the same with Shadow Strike, although she halts enemies' advancement only very briefly, plus, due to a bug, sometimes she gets stuck in place after using Shadow Strike and dies in a couple of seconds.

Easy question

with Engineer Shepard of course, because tech master race. For science!

Energy Drain also performs a similar function to Overload squadmates, doing the same damage over the same radius with the same cooldown (before passives), but has the added bonus of boosting her shield pool up to nearly 600 and thus increasing her survivability at the same time (useful on insanity due to derpy squad AI). Resultingly, in addition to Geth she's great against Blue Suns and good vs Eclipse (since they usually have mechs mixed in with shielded units). Lousy vs Blood Pack, though.

I wanted to pick up my favorite characters in Mass Effect 2 and my favorite SQUAD mates, so here we go.

Squad: I absolutely adored Mirandas both tech and biotic abilities. I LOVED Jack's overpowered shockwave - oh boy did we have fun when I also maxed my shockwave to the point when my shockwave was very destructive and hers could reach husks in a long range. Poor reapers! I think I would easily survive only with Jack if that would have been possible. Our close range fighting styles fitted very well together. So my favorite squad pairing must be Jack or Miranda - and I always made them to fight together, Jacks joins Miri everytime in her mission and the other way around. I wanted to see that they could fight together and respect each other in a match.
Tali would be the third in this list with her absolute awesome energy drain skill.

My favorite female characters from Mass Effect 2 were Tali and Jack. They are fun loving and easy going characters - yes, I believe Jack really is. I liked her poem very much... They were the kind of girls who I think would loved to party with Shepard. Samara's mission is one of my favorites, it was deeply moving but I still couldn't connect with her. I spent quite much time in Jacks hidey hole but visiting Samara felt always a part of the duty. When Samara was meditating, Shepard was laughing her ass of with Joker or working.

My favorite male squads and caharacters in ME2:

Squad: Yes. I very often picked Thane Krios because of the reasons. I liked him. Liked him a lot. Liked the view. Liked his heavy warp and his guns.
I also picked Garrus because he was very funny and a reasonable guy and made the most hilarious notes. But I must admit that I did not get the maximum out of his skills. :) When I didn't pick Garrus, I usually chose Zaeed to be my companion, I liked his explosives.

Favorite male characters in ME2: If I ignore Thane, he was Mordin, of course. I also liked Grunt very much. Was always nice to visit my big baby krogan boy. Legion is one of my favorites of all times, if he would be in the game sooner (I am a console player), I would defenetly selected him more often even over Garrus and Thane.

Sorry my english and my long post: I am a heavy enthusiast of the Mass Effect Universe.

I took Miranda everywhere. She was my go to girl because she had Slam, Overlord (wink, nudge) and Warp. Tali, because she always threw out her combat drone to distract enemies. I usually didn't have to make her. And she has a shotgun.  ;)

I never get tired of hearing Garrus' banter either. "Never saw me comin'!" "I love this rifle."

And, of course, Mordin. "Flammable! Or inflammable. Forget which. Doesn't matter."

For males I go for Garrus, Thane, Grunt.

For females I go with Tali, Jack, Kasumi.

This doesn't mean I didn't use other teammates. I did, except Jacob and Zaeed (to a lesser degree).

Zaeed, Legion, and Grunt

Zaeed is arguably the most versatile squad member in the game and you get him early on with his loyalty mission immediately available which is a huge plus. He gets concussive shot to take down barriers, disruptor ammo for shields, and inferno grenade for armor. Sniper rifles and assault rifles are also the best two weapons in the game when it comes to medium-long range damage output and his class power when fully upgraded can give him up to +50% damage which is tied with thane for the most amongst your squadmates. He's essentially a better version of garrus for all intensive purposes. (same weapons but better powers). Until I get legion I take him on every single mission as he combines tremendous damage output with excellent versatility.

Legion is  the arguably most powerful squad mate in the game. With two geth shield upgrades he has 200 health and a whopping 525 shield (compared to 200 health and 250 shield for most other characters) and with the geth shield boost power his durability is on par with a fully upgraded grunt while his widow sniper rifle does an absurd amount of damage. His two powers, AI hacking and combat drone, are also quite useful. It that wan't enough he also gets to use assault rifles for close range combat. Basically once you get him there's no real excuse not to take him on every mission after that.

Grunt is on par with legion when it comes to durability with base 450 health and 300 armor (when fully upgraded) with the additional benefit of rapid health regeneration as well as his fortification ability which mirrors the geth shield boost power. While legion is the best at medium-long range grunt is extremely effective at close range with his claymore shotgun and krogan charge. His powers are also tremendously useful with concussive shot tearing down barriers and blasting enemies to the ground while incendiary ammo, when fully upgraded to squad incendiary ammo, provides a huge boost to the whole squad's damage output.

I should also mention garrus as he's similar to zaeed in that he has versatile powers (AP ammo for armor, overload for shields, concussive shot for barriers) but has inferior damage output and inferior powers in that disrutpor ammo is more useful than AP ammo and inferno grenade is more useful than overload. Garrus only gets +25% weapon damage while zaeed gets up to +50%. When I acquire garrus I usually take him on a few missions but stop using him (except for his loyalty mission) when I acquire grunt and later legion.

Yes, Energy Drain is amazing as well. However, it works only against Synthetics or enemies with shields, which makes its usage in some missions, especially with Blood Pack, problematic. Drone, however, is universal and works well literally against anything, which makes Tali a strong and viable companion to keep with you all the time. I like Kasumi for the same reason: her sneak attack works the same way on everyone, regardless of what defenses they have, although Kasumi gets stuck periodically, so I generally avoid sending her too far away or to where too many enemies are nearby.

---

I'm surprised to see how many people like Jack. She has always been my least favorite companion in Mass Effect series (together with Zaeed, who got too little presentation in the game for me to feel attached to him), and she is a... hard woman to deal with.

On the other hand, seeing Garrus mentioned in every second comment isn't surprising for me at all. :)

You left out Zaeed and Legion, so I'm gonna add 'em in anyway. ^_^

Female: I hardly ever used female team members while playing any of the Mass Effect games, but if I had to choose, I'd say Jack since I used her more often than the others.

Male: Do I have to choose just one? It's a close call between Garrus and Legion, even though I don't get very much time to use Legion, he's still one of my favourites.

My team was usually Garrus, Zaeed and Thane unless Legion was an option, then he'd replace Zaeed, lol. Hmm but I also liked Grunt.
