I tend to switch teams according to the situation, but my favourites would be...

Out of the ladies, Samara. Definitely. I enjoy her as a character and her biotic powers always come in handy. I like to combine her with the other biotic party members, like Jack or Miranda. (Miranda is rather useful in combat in general because of her biotic+tech powers. Got to love that combo.) Speaking of Jack, I really like having Jack along, too. Much like with Samara, Jack's one of the characters I fell for immediately.

Out of the guys, probably Thane because I find him quite interesting and he also combines nicely with Samara. (I'm not sure how one team can take so much fabulousness, though. Good my Shepard's there to balance it out.) Actually, Samara and Thane are probably my favourite duo in general, especially for combat. (Enemies get helplessly thrown about and detonated. I love it.) Also, GRUNT! Grunt's just my baby krogan. He's fun and he basically never falls in combat.

Honourable mentions go to Legion for being a really interesting character who I always love hearing talk and Tali for being an awesome and constantly growing character... and Zaeed for being the badass, no-nonsense guy I'd love to fist-bump.

Damnit, too many cool people to choose from.

Hah, guilty for what? Being a little on the renegade side? It is true that sometimes I blow up a bunch of mercs or light a krogan on fire, then realise what I did and turn around, "We still good, Samara? Still good. GOOD! (thumb up)" She hasn't stepped on me... yet.

I especially loved them together in the dead Reaper. Not only it is freaking hilarious to watch all those husks flying around totally out of control like...

Spoiler

... but at the end, when you're about to pick Legion up, they both go, "It looks like a friend. Can we keep it? We should keep it." How can I possibly say no?

A little..? Perhaps a lot. :P

They're both like monks though.. probably the most morally minded of the bunch?

And at the same time, they're not the type I like snarking back to. Like, say, Kaidan and Liara in ME1.

Yeah, I have to admit that, while I like to mix moralities, I tend to lean to the blue side a little more. I guess that explains everything.

They're the ones to talk, though. We all kill people for a living.  :P Thane's reasons especially bother me because he even refuses responsibility for some of his actions because that was just his "body", not his mind. Samara's Code is black and white, as she herself says. Black and white is far from perfect, as well. But, yeah, they have their personal ideas of right or wrong, I suppose, and those seem to be more on the paragon spectrum. I can see how that can be a problem in certain cases.  :D

I think my username already says ONE of my ultra faves, but kind of weird: I like to diversify and choose everyone every other time.

Or maybe because I have all these ridiculous headcanons for each character....

I like to use Mordin, Garrus and Miranda at the beginning before Horizon because they have good powers for shielded and armored enemies. I avoid Grunt and Jack because they're only good for health and occasionally barriers, both of which aren't very common at the start, and can easily be taken down with a lot of bullets.
Later on I use Thane and Legion sometimes, but I like to stick with a sqaud which can take down armor, which is everywhere on Hardcore and Insanity.

Garrus and Thane/Tali. Also in every playthrough Garrus seems to always have my Shep's back. I have had near deaths so many times, but he always fires the kill shot or concussive round to save me. Thane is a close second and Tali is third for doing that, so they are always in my squad.

When I played ME2 for the first time I had a lot of trouble with Kasumi and Thane. Kasumi though, that ***** never stays at one place and jumps too much. I know that's the point of her Shadow Strike ability but still in my first playthrough it was damn annoying and Thane on the other hand. He used to die a lot even after placing him in cover positions all the time.

Story-wise I prefer Garrus and Tali. In terms of combat I feel good with everyone except the ones I mentioned above.

Throughout the series, Garrus and Liara have always been my A-Team. Going on a story-significant mission? Garrus and Liara. Can't decide who to bring? Garrus and Liara.

Well, since Liara is (mostly) absent in ME2, I took Miranda in her place. Because uh...I dunno. She wanted to planet a control chip in me? That's always a strong sign of someone that trusts you.

Jack & Mordin. Both died during my first playthrough.

Jack is just the best female character of any Mass Effect game so far. I didn't like what they did with her in ME3 though... suddenly she went from crazy and dangerously unstable to kind and warm schoolteacher? What the... Yeah, that kind of huge character development happening so quickly and suddenly was a bit unbelievable to me, but doesn't change the fact that she is still my favorite character in ME2 and made that game sooo much better. She's awesome.

Mordin... who could not like Mordin? I remember when he suggested to my Shepard that he has a crush on him... lol. Definitely another favorite character.
