DAO:

When my warden ended up in jail to cover the queen and got the chance to summon 2 teammates to rescue her. I'd try all the different combinations just to hear the all-fun banter and laugh at the ways they dealt with the guards.

DA2:

1)Every time Hawk's family trying to comfort him.

2)Through my fist play, right before the final battle, Fenris swore to fight by my side even I chose to help the mage. Compared to what Anders just did,  WHOA, I fell in love with him right then and there.

DAI:

Since my head is still stuck with the Solas romance.  I'll just list:

1)First kiss in the fade. Hesitant yet so passionate. Solas was so un-Solas and it felt magically perfect this way.

2)The whole moment of Solas moving away the facial tattoo. The aura, the touch, the words...there's definitely true magic there. But all cut off before the broke-up.

Dragon age origins:

The final battle at Denerim, That entire quest had epic stamped all over it.

Dragon age 2:

The extremely close friendship I had with Varric we treated each other like we were brothers.

Dragon age inquisition:

When the Protagonist gets chosen to be the leader of the inquisition that scene was exhilarating

DAO:

The whole awesome Dalish origin, and realizing I could romance Tamlen. And meeting him at camp afterwards, which absolutely broke my heart.

Loghain joining the party. Loghain ACTUALLY joining the party!

Learning the secret of the golems for the first time from Caridin's journal in Ortan Thaig.

Sisterhood with Morrigan, the mirror and all that(I'm a girl, but she's my canon Keep romance now. Likely because Loghain, Jowan, Tamlen and Nathaniel aren't).

DA2:

The whole awesome Anders romance, from the scene in that little Fereldan shop to the last scene before the final battle.

Scenes in my home, with Carver and Dog. Especially the last scene with Carver after Legacy.

Meeting Orsino for the first time. (And, no, his fate really made no sense, stop disapproving, Varric!)

Realizing Anders didn't tell my Hawke about the Chantry because he was afraid she'd want to help, and he wanted to keep her out of this.

DAI:

The whole awesome everything Solas, comments, romance and all. Hi, post-credits scene!

The Fade quest. People, this game actually has a perfect Fade quest! With Hawke! And Loghain! And there's even travelling to the future!

Friendship with Cassandra. I have this warm fluttery feeling every time I think of her. She's the best.

Mythal's temple arc. The choice to bring Morrigan(and the whole family) back was fantastic.

I'm enjoying this thread a lot, these are so fun to read!

DAO:

I have to say I loved every origin story there was. They were so different and for the first time in my gaming history I actually wanted to finish the game with a dwarf, which I usually wouldn't pick. I never thought a simple background could make me so affectionate of a character.

LANDSMEET! From the beginning to end, it was great. I kept on loading the scene where you send two companions to save you again and again because there were so many different outcomes. And of course, I enjoy immensily putting Alistair on the throne and his stupid comments when he's engaged to female Warden; if I'm playing male I always make him prince-consort. It's just very satisfying okay.

When the werewolves are cured from their curse. I'm just enchanted everytime I see that scene.

Alistair romance all in all. The true knight of roses //snorts

DA2:

The whole quest that results in the death of Hawke's mother. It was really creepy and disgusting and wrong. And so very sad. The after-talk with your LI or Aveline mended the pain a little yet somehow made it feel even more real.

Killing the Arishok and becoming the Champion. Ohhhh yeah.

The "betrayal" of Anders and the moment you realize that you were helping him. Still can't get over it.

THE SHENANIGANS AT CHATEAU HAINE.

Pretty much everything is funny with sarcastic (sometimes aggressive) Hawke.

DAI:

The aftermath of "In Your Heart Shall Burn" quest. I don't know, something about the Inquisitor walking forward no matter how cold it is or how much it snows just stayed with me. I'm just paralyzed when I listen to everyone singing "The Dawn Will Come". Also, I'm on my fifth playthrough and I still get goosebumps when the damn hero music starts playing and you see a grand building and Solas says "Skyhold".

So many companion quests. They're so personal and you find out so much about the characters. Cullen's romance scenes are amazing too.

Mage alliance quest. Time travel is pure gold and time after time I'm so touched when your companions bravely stay behind just so you could stop the horrible future from happening.

I love the Fade quest, so great to see Hawke again and I love how the fear demon taunts everyone individually.

I like this thread :)

I'm going to choose one thing from each game.

Origins:

A Paragon of her Kind - the first time in the Deep Roads, meeting Ruck, learning about Darkspawn, seeing the Archdemon and the size of its army, the horror of the broodmother.  The ending is the kicker though.  So much desperation and despair.  Both from Caradin and Branka.  Learning how golems are really made.  Its particularly poignant if you have Shale with you.

DA2:

Legacy DLC - the first time I realised what and who Corypheus was.  I'm not ashamed to admit I squee'd.

DAI:

The Temple of Mythal - convincing Calpernia to walk away.  Abelas and the ancient elves.  Snippets of information.  That look on Cory's face when he knows you've stumped him again.  (Poor guy can't win for losing).

All the origin stories.

Broodmother and the creepy build up to it (Hespith).

Sten and Dog.

DA2:

Varric

Aveline

Killing Anders.

Pissing Tallis off.

DAI:

Whole Haven battle sequence - killing Fiona was a bit of a missed opportunity though. Needed more fanfare.

Dawn will come.

Cole getting in peoples heads.

Preferred the Templar mission slightly more than the mage one. Both were good though.

Realizing Coryfish was just one huge failsauce.

Companion quests.

Viv's cheekbones. I swear they follow you around the room.

I am such a sadist because a lot of my favorite moments were seeing characters suffer. xD

DA:O

  • Failing to save Irving and seeing the Circle annulled as a Mage Warden
  • Personally executing Jowan as a follow up, and him telling you that the original reason he turned to blood magic because he was just jealous of you.
  •  Sten’s friendship with a Mage Warden and that little epilogue slide after she commits the Ultimate Sacrifice. ;_;
  • Deciding to make Loghain a Grey Warden and having Alistair break up with you. And having the Dark Ritual performed  after that to have Loghain survive.
  • Publicly siding with Bhelen but then going to Dulin Forender to say you’re going to secretly support Harrowmont as an Aeducan.
  • Survivng after defeating archdemon, but realizing it was bittersweet with your ex-boyfriend gone to become king, and your closest friend (Morrigan) leaving without saying goodbye.
  • The moment you’re running up to the Denerim gates in the final battle and everyone is cheering for you.
  • The camp and epilogue music.
  • Leliana’s song and the moment Sten just looked down.
  • Morrigan's friendship with f!Aeducan

DA2

  • Kicking Anders out in ACT 2. Game became so much tolerable after that. And then executing him ACT 3.
  • Being glad to see Isabela coming back to then give her to the Arishok.
  • Leandra’s death and the character development for my f!Hawke was quite nice
  • Aveline’s talk after your mother dies

DA:I

  •  Kicking Sera out after Verchiel March.
  • The Dawn Will Come and becoming the Inquisitor. Thank you Trevor Morris for the perfect music.
  • Champions of the Just quest
  • Roleplaying as a qunari who never believed in the Maker who eventually becomes Andrastian
  • Flirting with Scout Harding, dating Josephine and Cassandra with said qunari all in one playthrough.
  • Vivienne moving my furniture in one playthrough and Vivienne and I becoming bffs in another
  • Making Cullen take lyrium again and seeing that sad look on his face when he starts.
  • Promoting Ser Barris

I read through this entire thread and realized what an amazing series of games this has been.  I will choose 1 thing that stood out to me for each game though they may have been already stated.

DAO

When I tried to manipulate the end game so that my mage would live and so would Alistair and Loghain would take the fall.  Alistair left and my mage was crushed and in real life I had this super awkward feeling that I had just been dumped by a video game. It was such a novel experience that I kept going.  I was convinced that Alistair would show up in the final fight, he might be unable to reconcile differences but he would never leave Fereldan to suffer under the darkspawn and forsake his duty as a warden.  That was my US run, my first run, it was amazing! My elf mage took her death with relief to end her broken heart.  I was bawling from the outcome of the landsmeet on and it was beautiful.  Crying because my for reals heart was broken and laughing that a video game could manipulate my limbic system so easily.

DA2

As a female mage Hawke I was always frustrated by Carver.  Yet there were these moments when he seemed as frustrated and he would say sister so perfectly.  It encapsulated all the unspoken love that would remain unspoken because he simply could not say what he felt here we were both loving each other and hating each other as only siblings in rivalry can.  It really hit home in the Legacy DLC, Carver's voice actor nailed it.

DAI

The entire final battle in Haven until Skyhold.  Seriously it is no wonder the rest of the game pales in comparison not many games can pull off this kind of epic more than once in a video game bioware spent it early but this really pushed me through to the end when crafting and farming for materials and schematics drove me insane.

Origins:
-- Recovering the Anvil of the Void and killing that stupid golem in the way.
-- Storming Fort Drakon with my A-team: Loghain, Zevran, and Morrigan.
-- Awakenings expansion in general (felt like an extended cut of the ending and reward for saving the day, one which I enjoyed from start to end).

Two:
-- Dueling the Arishok to save the city and Isabela.
-- The Templars bowing down to my pro-Templar mage Hawke.
-- Act 3 as an ongoing estrogen battle between K-C Meredith and my pro-entropy Hawke.

Inq:
-- Recruiting the mages or Templars to help seal the breach (both missions were very fun).
-- the Herald's coronation as Inquisitor.
-- Return of Hawke and the Adamant/Fade quest

DAO:

  • Meeting Alistair for the first time and realizing "omg this guy is adorkable".
  • Alistair sharing his secret when you travel to Redcliffe for the first time
  • Camp
  • Alistair giving you that little white flower he picked up in Lothering because it reminded him of you
  • Finding out what it required to kill the Archdemon
  • That moment Alistair broke up with my (mage) Warden after I made him King, and me reloading again and again and again trying to change the outcome, to no avail, and realizing how much I came to care about a bunch of fancy looking pixels on the screen
  • "Swooping is bad"
  • This golden banter between Anders and Nathaniel:

Spoiler

DA2

  • After Bethany/Carver dies, if you choose a particular dialogue option Leandra will blame you for their death. Hawke's pained expression that follows... it's painful to look at.
  • Everything sarcastic Hawke says
  • Varric's version of what happened at Bartrand's estate
  • "Ooooooh but ze 'Anged Man is soooo feeeeelthy"
  • Varric's nicknames for everyone
  • Isabela coming back to help you fight the Qunari, even though it puts her at risk because she had the tome and I allowed her to escape with it... because she considered me a friend.
  • Leandra's death
  • The Chantry exploding
  • That scene where the templars charge the Circle and begin killing mages
  • Orsino falling to blood magic
  • This golden banter between Anders and Sebastian:

Spoiler

DAI:

  • In your heart shall burn
  • Seeing Alistair again
  • Seeing Hawke again
  • Seeing Varric again
  • Seeing Morrigan again
  • Wicked Grace cut scene
  • Cassandra fangirling about Swords and Shields
  • Iron Bull
  • Dorian
  • Confronting Florianne with high enough court approval and choosing the middle option... I had no idea that my Lavellan was capable of so much sass.
  • Cullen, Leliana and Cassandra walking in on you and Bull.

DA:O (lawd there are too many I could list here)

-Dalish Warden leaving her clan

-Battle of Ostagar

-Zathrian breaking the curse. One of my most memorable tracks in the series for it. Goosebumps.

-Morrigan's friendship with a female Warden, where she comes to regard you as a sister. Particularly, the final scene at the gate. Claudia Black nailed that last line. "I knew nothing of friendship before we met...but know I shall always consider you such. Live well, my friend. Live gloriously."

-Oghren's last scene was pretty great too. "Let's show them our hearts...and then let's show them theirs!"

-Female Dalish meeting Tamlen again

-Earning Sten's respect.

-Leliana's romance as it progressed. My inner sap was getting feely. "I will never regret leaving Orlais. I will never regret any of the pain, the anger, the loneliness, because it brought to you. And I...love you. It's so wonderful to say that to someone again."

-Dueling Loghain

-Warden letting out a triumphant battle cry as she slew the Archdemon

-The final coronation. It's always such a bittersweet feeling when I get there. Sometimes I don't want to go out of the doors to the epilogue. :C

DA2

-Meeting Varric

-A plethora of sarcastic Hawke moments. "I have an excellent sense of dramatic timing. And good hair."

- Varric/Sarcastic Hawke bromance moments

-Marethari's death

-Leandra's death. Felt it was pretty poignant with my sarcastic blood mage Hawke. He had no jokes at that point.

-Full rival Templar Carver still stepping in front of Meredith when she was going to kill his sibling. They might be at each other's throats often, but he's still loyal to his family. It's why I liked Carver the best.

DA:I

-Leliana's crisis of faith. Her mentions of a romanced Warden as basically the last light in her life. The Warden's letter begging the Inquisitor to help her see the light again, and then doing so. Blegh feels.

-In Your Heart Shall Burn. All of it.

-The Envy Demon's nightmare.

-Besieging Adamant

-Comforting Varric after Hawke's death, Varric's story about them afterwards.

-Solas' romance, in all of its gut-punching glory.

-Flemeth, Morrigan and Kieran's family reunion. The way Flemeth actually seemed legitimately touched at how much Morrigan seemed to care for her son, and her face when she said 'he would be better off without me, just like I was better off without you...'

-The final, post credits scene with Flemeth and Solas.

DA:O

1.) Cousland origin story: The family stuff was sweet the day to day life of the younger prince was interesting. Being a renowned prince and haveing a beautiful elven lass swoon over you was cool aswell. The  betrayal and tragedy was intense.

2.)Battle of Osthagar: I enjoy walking the fortess talking to all the soldiers. It has a very "calm before the storm" type feel. Awsome battle cutscene sad to see Duncan go. Best thing is that the good guys loose which gives a "Oh ****!!  We are in trouble now" feeling.

3.)Lothering: Seeing how dire things were added to the games atmosphere .

4.) Slaying the UOSA High Dragon: Slaying Dragons. Nuff said B) .

5.)Temporarily killing Flemeth: DID SHE JUST MORPH INTO A DRAGON!?! Thanks for the warning Morrigan. /sarcasm.

6.) Deep Roads: Kicking tons of Darkspawn ass in their own house? Badass. Plus watching the Archdemon and the Horde march to the surface LOTR:ROTK style was epic.

7.)Meeting And talking with Riordan: Grey Wardens are awesome.

8.) Leliana love story: Warden-Commander Cousland hearts Leliana  .

9.) Landsmeet: Killing Howe, uniting Ferelden, Loghains emotional last moments with Anora, Alistar claims his birthright.

10).Convincing Alistar to have sex with Morrigan: Hilarious.

11.)Battle of Denerim:Calling in allied reinforcements, cuting your way to the Archdemon, finally killing the damn thing and those goodbyes? Emotional stuff.

12.)Celebration's: Happy ending. This what I hoped we'd get for ME3 so can imagine how disappointed I was with what we did get.

13.)DA:A: Pretty much the whole damn thing.

DA2 and DA:I moments I'll list later.

This continues to be a fun thread to read. I'm noticing trends in what people mention between games.

I went with Loghain in my Top Moments, but this line was a very close 2nd:

"I am your Paragon."

IMHO, I think what connects our picks is how thin a line between being the hero and the villain. I have no doubt Caradin, Branka, Loghain, many others really intended to do good. The famous line is you either die a hero or live long enough to be the villain. Perhaps closer to the truth would be, you can only aspire for greatness, but whether it's great good or great evil is left to a higher authourity to decide.

And I'd like to share this with you. Branka was one of the more memorable voices, along with Loghain and Howe. She was voiced by Helen Wilson, who is not an actor primarily. She is actually more famous as a set and costume designer for films like Spiderman and Iron Man. In other words, in real life, she would be closer to the Smith Caste, just as her character was.

I'll try for things I haven't seen mentioned.

Origins: Riordan flyibg off that tower to land on the Archdemon gets me every time.

DA2: Those crooked little hopeful smiles you could get from Anders and, more particularly, Fenris. I try not to metagame but my Hawkes will say some pretty OOC things if she knows it will get one.

Inquisition: Josephine's long-suffering reaction to my sentencing the box to community service--and Cullen's "head on a pike" question when it goes on tour.

Origins:
- the first time you kill an ogre, when I realized it was going to be epic;
- Hespith, when I realized it was going to be creepy;
- Alistair sacrificing himself for my warden, when I realized I was going to reload.

Awakening:
- when I realize that all those sidequests weren't optional at all and I actually DID save the keep.

DA2:
- best tutorial ever: the idea to integrate it in Varric's storytelling was just brilliant;
- when the Arishok gets up from his throne because Kirkwall needs to burn;
- the glorious explosion of the chantry, along with Grand Cleric Elthina's useless ***.

Mark of the Assassin:
- "I think the Duke has fallen from Grace".

Legacy:
- "I can never take you anywhere" (witty Hawke to romance Anders when Justice flips).

Inquisition:
- "I want the world back";
- Vivienne giving my Inquisitor a ring and calling her friend (aside from the fact that I like the character, it was about time a companion gave ME a gift);
- Grey Warden leader reciting her oath and striking at the Archdemon.

Still, I have to agree with Endee about the Anders-Sebastian banter. Priceless.
