Well, you've done it again, as in the Mark of the Assassin from DA2 where Hawke went to the party dresses as a man, my female Inquisitor has just gone to an elegant party dressed as a man ,,,, again
The pajamas at Skyhold are bad, but this is even worse! Who would go to a party hosted by the Empress herself wearing that (and with that hairdo, by the way)? If my Inquisitor had been a dwarf, then I could have understood the bad taste in clothes, but no, she is a human and a Lady. She should know what is appropiate for each circumstance. And if she has forgotten, then Josephine should have reminded her, but no! Even Josephine is wearing that male uniform!
![]()
The uniform looks great for men, actually Cullen and Dorian look very handsome in it. But there is no way a female would wear that ... not even in the worst nightmare!
And to make thing even worse,
Spoiler
So, please, Bioware, let your women designers make the female clothes and hairdos. A femenine touch is definitely needed. They will know what to do, I am sure.
Or at least, let us mod the game so we can fix this monstruosity (as I fixed the party dress for Mark of the Assassin).
Happy 2015!
I agree totally, but two points:
1 ) They have created a single model for both females and males, and it's costly and will also take immense time to reprogram the entire game for adding an actual female Inquisitor model, which is what's basically lacking - the way they sit, the way they walk, the way they move, the way they hunch, the way they dress is all based on a male movement model. So, don't hope for that.
2 ) As far as the mods are concerned. Yes, PC gamers can have the game modded. But the rest of us on consoles don't get mods. So, supporting modders, however tempting, means keeping PC gamers satisfied and Bioware simply ignoring our complains.

They're just as much of a joke over here. And have you seen how bad the facial hair is - even when it's actually attached to the face?
Yeah but at least it's OK for a man who ACTUALLY has balls dangling between his legs to walk like he's got balls dangling between his legs and possibly a burn from running around too much. In most cutscenes the female Inquisitor walks like there's an elephant in between her legs and she can't close them. What gives. It's OK for femshep, and it was FAR LESS PROMINENT, but this is ridiculous.

I agree, Octarin, tha animations are made for male character. But there are actually two different meshes for the outfit: one with boobs an another one without
Having already two meshes in game, why not making them more different and fitting for a social event?. I am talking about formal attire, here.
I agree that if you forget to change your clothes and fight with the skirst there could be clipping (not much as I suspect the legs don't exist under those long skirts, though). But I wouldn't mind a little clipping there
And about supporting mods, that's the second best option, the first one would be Bioware fixing this, of course

To be honest, the best way I've seen to handle this is just to ape Saints Row and have a ton of different walking styles, so everybody is more-or-less happy with it.

Inquisitor went to party dressed in uniform like everyone else in Inquisition did no matter gender. That's not dressing as man, it's dressing for your work.
Yeah, I took it to be a military uniform, and also a way for the Inquisition to show that they are not a collection of men and women doing whatever, they are the Inquisition, a quasi-military force that is not to be reckoned with.

Any person in a FINAL position of authority, Inquisitor as an example, would "likely" have final say in both uniform and armor appearance, design and color.
Just saying.
Good point there.

I support the OP but I wonder if a dress won't messed up the dance cute scene since it was animated for male character...

That SHOULD be animated for both male and female Inquisitor, well, because we can play either gender. If it isn't - shame.

There was actually a set that was picked up from one of the Orlesian country homes that I would have far preferred for my female human inquisitor. It wasn't technically "formal attire" as it had some sort of neck scarf but it did look nice. I think it was the colour scheme that made the formal ball attire look as bad as it did. All primary colours, mixed together? I felt a bit like an upscale fast food worker meets the Nutcracker.
Completely agree on the hair though. That is one area that I think most people agree. Of course, if you are looking for variations of balding or buzz...we completely have you (mostly) covered.

Yes I think so too!
Oh and regarding the whole what to wear to the ball issue...I also think they should not have made point of adding into the conversation the option of 'Ohh I've got nothing to wear!' comment.
It really gives you the impression that you get to dress up.
I got really excited because I remembered the little black dress we got when we went to that party with Kasumi in Mass Effect.

I mean ever since I chatted with Liliana back in DAO about her role as a bard, and the shoes and the clothes, well I had this idea that Orlais was all about appearances and fashion and was sure expecting to reap some of that for myself in this game. Oh goodness I was pretty excited and sure that there would be some lovely dresses coming!
I think also this game is a fantasy game, and there is no harm in wanting to play to your preferences, surely a choice would be appropriate for those wanting to play as warrior types or those wanting to play as feminine dressed up to the nines (with the dagger strapped to your thigh under your ballgown).
Not sure how I would fit a staff under the gown but I'm sure I could get a short staff made specially for the occasion, what do the Orlesian ladies wear under their gowns when they are 'playing the game'?
(Hehe) Now I'm thinking silly things!

I gladly support your idea,. I wish there were more styles for the masquerade mission, as well as ordinary ones; I wasn't to venture through the western approach dressed in a silk frock adorned with jewels. But no. I didn't get that. However, I did like the actually fashion designs on the nobility, and of course the venetian masks. If it they were designed by men or women it doesn't matter; It just needed to be available to the inquisitor and the companions.

Also you'd think Inquisitor would have enough money to buy new PJ's as Skyhold outfit..
I'm all for giving options to players that I think BW missed big opportunity in with Skyhold and Ball outfits. However unlike many seem here I find uniform still very fitting in the situation and pretty great looking too.

I support this, although dresses (or gown) and hairstyles can be designed by either gender: male or female. What's required is creativity and a sense of style.
Edit: We need more alluring hairstyles for women. That is lacking in Dragon Age: Inquisition. The hairstyles as they are in Dragon Age: Inquisition fit the males more.

Yes, I was also excited when Josephine mentioned the Ball to me. My hope was that Josephine and I would go shopping for an outfit or two for the ball. But that didn't happen. My heroine was dressed in that uniform, which in itself isn't a bad idea. I just wanted to have a choice between that uniform and a gown (dress).
I did like the uniform. I just wished I could have added awards to it to enhance it and thus elevating my Inquisitor's distinction. She is the Inquisitor after all, and she has received many honors. I just wanted to add them to the uniform she wore to the Ball. Josephine would have looked great in a gown, just like Morrigan did in that lovely gown she wore. I understand about Sera (I took her with me to the Ball) not caring what she wears, but the ladies of the Inquisition: Leliana, Josephine, Vivienne could have worn beautiful gowns. They are ladies with style and they are also dignitaries. Cassandra should have a choice of either a gown or the uniform. She is royalty although she doesn't care much about that, so having a choice between a gown and a uniform would fit her. I also took Cullen and Blackwall with me. They looked very distinguished in their uniforms, especially Cullen.
I just wanted to have a choice to choose to either wear a gown (dress) or the uniform decorated with awards, of course.
