I started laughing hysterically when I played the Winter Palace. I went from Inquisitor to what looked like a hotel bell hop. It made the entire experience utterly bizarre. Especially since there had been established no Indian style of art of culture in the game what so ever up to that point.
Please Bioware let designers with femenine taste make dresses and hairstyles - Spoilers

Inquisitor went to party dressed in uniform like everyone else in Inquisition did no matter gender. That's not dressing as man, it's dressing for your work.
Pants are not necessarily dressing for work. It's very male-identified, this game. The "male" gender construct rules the appearances of the Inquisitor from hair to clothing.
There are some women who like the more ultra-feminine construct and we're not noticed by Dragon Age developers as much anymore. I just don't know what happened. I can choose either style in Skyrim and that was developed for 2011.

Simply having a woman design the outfits wouldn't be enough as there are many women who either:
-Want to look masculine or gender neutral
-Don't care what they wear
-Are very unfashionable and wouldn't be able to come up with an outfit that us fashion lovers find decent
You need someone who cares about feminine, fashionable, and flattering clothing and that person could be a man or a woman as long as they have the knowledge and the passion.

+1, not because I think it takes only a woman to design some fancy Orlesian Clothes, but because I detest that awful nutcracker uniform. They really cut corners here... I could understand it if it was ONLY for the Inquisitor, but Josephine and Vivienne actually downgraded their clothes to wear that uniform. Its awful.
Please Bioware, allow us to choose our outfits. That includes the Skyhold PJs too.

However even if that person is find will she or he design only feminine and fashionable clothes to female Inquisitors? What about players who dislike that stuff?
I don't really think there is problem of designer but the lack of options and BW's choice of how ball plays out so everyone wears uniform instead of being dressed for ball.

I like the ball outfit. I hate dresses in RL too, I would have hated if my Dalish huntress where going to wear an idiotic and uncomfortable shem's dress. (she already have to in Skyhold...
) at least the ball outfit is a military divise. I found her powerful and nononsense outfit.
I would have loved having the chance to wear it in Skyhold too.
I never liked Shepard's "elegant" dress. I found it always too feminine for my Shepard.
Of course the chance to choose would have been great. But I think the ball outfit is one of the few things I like.
And hair...sigh. Why no one at BioWare take few minutes to google and find ispiration for some good hairstyles? I like short hair, but all the hair in the CC are truly horrible. ![]()

I think there is a problem with both the designer(otherwise we wouldn't have so many frumpy, weird hairstyles, skyhold PJs, etc...) and the lack of options. It would have made sense for the inquisitor to choose what she wears to the ball as a statement and part of the game. There could have been:
-Wear your armor to be intimidating
-Wear the nutcracker uniform as the "safe" neutral choice (maybe keep people guessing)
-Wear a beautiful dress as a woman to cause a stir and make everyone envious, or as a man to cause a scandal

Just hope for the modding community to be successful. If you want to see any changes on this issue, that's the place to support. Everyone is talking about the mod tool being developed at DA:Inquisition Nexus.
I'm sure Bioware is too concerned from all the flak they're getting from PC gamers complaining about controls and old-gen consoles having more bugs than Bethesda can count. Best that they focus on such pressing issues than minor continuity patches.

And there is the REAL problem of the whole modding thing. PC gamers can have mods. So when they have mods and they're satisfied, they shut up about it and neglect to acknowledge that it isn't that the GAME ITSELF is fixed, but that they actually cheated on it to fix it. It's not that the COMPANY FIXED THE GAME, it's that some fans found a working work-around for 1/3 of the gamers out there. One third? Yea, one third, cause the other two thirds don't have the luxury of PC mods, and unless we ALL stand up and shout and ****** and whine, the company WON'T fix the game on the basis that "the modders will mod that shite soon, so let;s just release another paid DLC instead". I recommend that you try not to fall for that trap, it isn't to anybody's benefit at all.

I'm also requesting a title change. Gender has little to do with fashion sense. ![]()
It's funny that clipping has been used as a reason for no dresses and no longer hair. I find that amusing because the current in-game armor clips through the back of my character's neck. This happens regardless of lighting or area while in gameplay. It also doesn't matter if I'm in a cutscene. This is a few different screenshots to show it off. It's also in different lighting as well, and at slightly different angles. If I'm out in the field, it's inescapable.
And that's not counting the number of times I've seen my hands clip through my legs in the game. However, medium length hair clips too much? Okay... ![]()
As far as a dress goes, well I can understand animating and size issues for four different female models. While it's true that the noble ladies have dresses, it's important to note that they are humans only. So they'd have to make another model for three different races. I know that's very unlikely going to happen. It sucks, but I get that. I wish we could recolor the Ball uniform and the causal wear without mods.
Another request a toggle for allowing armor to be shown at Skyhold without using a third party program. I could definitely see myself wearing some low level armor just for doing judgement and running around the base. I know such an option is available through the Cheat Engine program, I'd rather see it in game. I'd like the option available to all players regardless of platform. That's my two cents anyway.
I'd like to give a quick thank you to the modders for doing the recolors for the PC users.

Since it's an actual item they give you, and they give you more of them when the quest is completed, they could easily have just given you the "male" dress uniform we have and also a dress like Morrigan's and let you wear whatever you wanted. They should have let you go in your armor, actually, and had the quests react to it. My Inquisitor doesn't care about getting dressed up, "the game" be damned.

IMO the military get up should be the DEFAULT set to wear if you have not completed the quests to search for a Ball room outfit. The male and female Inquisitors should have a quest that lets them choose their ball room outfit and if you do not care about what you wear then you don't have to do that.
I also think we should have a quest to persuade Gaspard to get invitations and this then could mean how many invitations we will receive, how many people from the Inquisition can turn up, which Inquisition members you would like to join you, etc.
More quests for this please!

Truly, it's a first world problem. I hope that devs won't even care to do something with this, because the cosmetic side of this game is much less important than game breaking bugs. And wtf- why women? If you ask me about most famous fashion designers, then I can mention some male names only. And I know nothing about fashion.
Every problem to do with video games (and other forms of entertainment) are first world problems, but you're in luck. The devs don't seem to care about the crappy hairstyles, forced awful clothing, broken elf arms and other aesthetic issues at all.

Uh yeah.
I get this.
"Unisex" clothing tends to favour the man. I don't think it's that much to ask to get a decent gown for that particular quest. I also don't think it will happen though for various reasons. The red uniform is very out of place at that ball. I understand it's kind of meant to be like that, to help identify your companions, but the colour scheme. Blech.
I'm surprised the Orlesian court approval doesn't immediately drop to 0 and you get thrown out of the ball for your fashion faux pas.

If I recall correctly, I believe one of the partygoers (a nameless NPC) also commented negatively on Cassandra wearing the uniform to the party.

-Wear your armor to be intimidating
-Wear Orlais themed cool and sexy uniform to look professional and military
-Wear a beautiful dress as a woman to cause a stir and make everyone envious, or as a man to cause a scandal
Fixed that for you ^^
As for the idea I think it's not too bad. Different outfits choices could be tied to military vs politica vs intrigue choices. If you chose military Cullen will give you idea of uniforms. If you choose political Josie will give you something fitting for Orlesian ball (ball gown for female and suit for male characters). If you choose Intrigue Leliana will give you something in between; fitting to ball but also something where you can easily do your task (maybe pantsuits idk). That could have been nice touch and it'd give players choice to choose what fits to their character most.

We sorely need some more clothing variety in this game, something, anything else for wearing around Skyhold, and some options for the Ball would have been nice

You know, that's the same thing for asking more haircuts, it's all about having a choice.
That wouldn't have killed Bioware to at leas let us choose the colors of our Pyjamas or Ball outfits for example.
If bioware could have cut half of those useless open world map and focus more on optional aesthetics content instead (I'm talking here about the graphics team that could have worked on something else than those maps because we didn't need 8 of them if it were just fillers) like haircuts or wearing different outfit far the bal, we wouldn't have that conversatio.
