Best: Western Approach.
Worst: Exalted plains.

Crestwood was really good, exalted Plains was really good. I liked most of the zones a lot actually but my favorite was probably the emerald Graves. By the time I got around to exploring that I was already level 21 and fighting 3 level 20 Giants at the same time was extremely challenging and super fun.

Favourite - Crestwood. Simply because I got to see it in two different states, stormy night and clear day.
Least Favourite - Hissing Wastes. Wander, wander, fight a wild animal, wander, wander, exit to Skyhold.

I liked most areas. The only one I dislike is the Exalted Plains: endless ramparts and annoying shard locations.

Least had to be the wastes. Just way too much open space to give the illusion of being a big area.
And honorable mention goes to the hinterlands for being a horrible zone to get you started. You want the first areas to draw you in not make you want to leave.

The worst has to be the Oasis, I always get lost and I dont have enough patience. And I feel the only thing to do there are the shards, which I am not going to collect

Unfavourite: Exalted Plains. Kinda Dragon Age meets Stalker's nastier bits, which lots of motion-sickness-inducing jumping thrown in for good measure.

Best: Emerald Graves, it was just beautiful to run around in. I wish it had more elven ruins to explore though.
Worst: Exalted Plains. The long "main" quest of the area (clearing what feels like 100 ramparts) is such a chore that I can't even enjoy the area.

Best: Western Approach. It was a really striking area and not what I would've expected from a desert. I especially liked the poisonous mist areas after clearing the mist out.
Worst: Exalted Plains. It was just a really drab area. No color, depressing quests, tons of dead bodies and undead. It just wasn't my cup of tea.

Like the exalted plains. With the trenches and the fortress, which you have to retake from the demons, it doesn't feel static like most of the other maps.
The trenches + the Adamant Fortress would make a wonderful siege map, similar to the begin of the Witcher 2. You are under fire from the defenders and have to reach the fortress and conquer it.
The worst area is the oasis, because it's absolutely pointless. There is only the temple with the doors for the shards as interesting location, which could also be located in the western approach map.

Favorite: Exalted plains lots of action.
Worst: Hissing wastes. Nice crafting materials but the area is WAY to big. So much empty space.

I loved the Emerald Graves, Storm Coast, and Crestwood. Crestwood would probably be my favorite; really drew me in and I cared about doing all the quests there my first time around.
Worst was Fallow Mire for me. I went there too early and Cassandra apparently loved wondering off only to bring more undead to fight with her when she returned.

I think I liked the Hissing Wastes for the same reason everyone else hated it. I thought it was gorgeous.
Least favorite: Exalted Plains.
My favorite area within an area is hands down Cradle of Suledin. Damn it was so gorgeous.

The Arbor Wilds was the coolest looking one to me. Those tropical birds were so pretty
Worst ones was either Exalted Plains or Hissing Wastes
The last one got old really fast and the first one was just not that fun

My favorite area for structure was Emprise du Lion. I loved that there were a few smaller areas with some exploration but a nice stream of quests to take you through most of it. Also, it wasn't as bright, which is a plus to me. It's one reason I don't care for the desert levels as much. I did kind of like the structure to the Western Approach, even if I didn't like the look.
Crestwood may be the best though. I love that they took the time to allow us to see it in two very different states.
I absolutely loved the lightning in the Fallow Mire. Very well done with how it looked and the sound and impact. The only thing that may have been better, or perhaps terrible, is if the lightning damaged your player when you get hit. It seemed like I was hit at least twice, haha.
I liked the look of the Hissing Wastes, but the design was frustrating. I kept trying to explore everything and there didn't seem to be much, if any, real reward to straying from the main zones. Given how big the level is, that should change. But, at least I know for the future not to waste my time.
I liked the idea of the Exalted Plains, but I didn't like its execution. So much wandering around. That's probably my biggest gripe with the game in general though. They wanted it to be big. They succeeded, but I prefer for my areas to be filled with meaningful things to do rather than be large just for the sake of saying it's a huge game. It felt a bit too much like an MMO with the false sense of a grand space with nothing to really do in it. I don't know, we'll see how I feel about it after I do a second complete playthrough. Maybe I'll feel different now that I don't feel compelled to try and explore every inch of the map.

Favorite: Hissing Wastes
Yes, it's full of empty spaces, but they also add up to its unique desert characteristic which I find kind of real and thus charming.
Least favorite: Haven
Too inconvenient to fuzzy all my buddies(8+3) and there's hardly any scenery around that place. Should at least add 3 fast travels. Battles there are OK though.

And though I don't really care for the shards, I love the Oasis. Kinda wish I could find a place like that in real life (minus the bad guys and beasts, of course) and just disappear for a while.
Least favorite: Fallow Mire. Can't stand the place. First time through, I was under leveled. Took me two more tries to get to a level where it didn't hand me my a** every time one of my wonderful companions decided to wander off the path...
I've managed to completely miss the Hissing Wastes in my last play through so I can't weigh in on that one.

My favorite was probably Crestwood. It had the most interesting side content in the game, and I liked that the weather and day/night cycle changes after you've dealt with Crestwood's problems.
My least favorite was probably the Exalted Plains, for the same reasons posted by others in this thread.
The Hinterlands would my runner up for least favorite. The game enviroment was beautiful, but the map was just too big and filled with too many MMO-style side quests. If you're a completionist you end up spending way too much time there at the beginning of the game, and it starts to become a little boring and a bit of a chore.
Favorite: Hissing Wastes
Yes, it's full of empty spaces, but they also add up to its unique desert characteristic which I find kind of real and thus charming.
The Hissing Wastes was more one of the more scenic maps I thought. Also I liked that you're fighting Venatori there, as it links to the main quest. That being said there is a lot of empty space on that map.

I like most of them. It's nice to see so much variation, and the day/night changes were a good idea; it made even regions with similar terrain feel unique. (Western Approach and Hissing Wastes are probably the best example, I like how the latter feels more desolate under the night sky and have no problem with its sparser questing, it adds to the character of the region).
Most liked: Emerald Graves for its scenery, Crestwood for is quest line and Hinterlands for overall balance between the two.
Least liked: Exalted Plains. Not a bad map per se, but the war-torn landscape just looks so sad. I do like the southern area around the Dalish camp.

Favorites: Hissing Wastes and the Oasis, for sheer gorgeousness
Least favorite: Fallow Mire. Ughhhh. I was underlevel when I went there the first time, and got destroyed by zombie snipers.

Favourites:
Crestwood; I like the way the area changes, also the areas story is interesting.
The Fallow Mire; The atmosphere is really well done and I liked the 'environmental hazzard' of the bog, also it leads to the goat judgement
.
Storm Coast; Recruiting the Blades of Hessarian and having them roam the area working for you is cool plus it's probably my favourite area visually.
Worst:
Hissing Wastes; Too empty, very minimalistic story, lack of quests - areas like this were my biggest worry about DAI going open world, hopefully Bioware doesn't do anything like it again in terms of emptiness, although it is pretty.
