No matter, what zones you put in the worst section, almost all of you list the negatives like "meaningless side quest", "immersion breaking"," too many fetch quests", "not enough meaningful content" hence the most hated zones so far EP and HW which resemble MMO areas the most.
Yet Crestwood seems like winning atm because of "meaningful side quests", "the change of weather/dynamic in the zone" etc.
Bioware take notes for your next installement/dlc/expansion - people do not want big empty areas deprived of life. Quality over quantity. The vast majority of people are bored to their bones of MMO fetch quests and "do not do them they are optional" is not really an answer, because if you want to level up your party and get good gear you have to do most of the things the game offers you. So when 60% of the content is like this and i skip it while playing on hard, i will be underleveled almost everywhere because i didnt bring food to some lost soldier, or i didnt deliver some letter to some dead guy, with his wife dead wish, while his dog is dying in front of burning house etc......Something to think about for the sequels and ME series too if you are on the same road there.
Best and worst regions.

Favourite;
Hissing Wastes- one of the few places where it felt like an open world you could explore. Most other places had mountains, hills and other barriers cutting up the map forcing you too take long detours to get to where you wanted to go. Also liked the dwarven plot.
Least Favourite
Exalted plains- large, too many artifical barriers, and no redeeming plots.

My favorites were Hissing Wastes, Emprise du Lion, Western Approach, and Emerald Graves, and my least favorites were Crestwood and Storm Coast.

That's actually quite difficult for me...because even in teh areas I started to get tired of I often found something cool...like Fallow Mire, when you finalyl see those castle-ruins in the rain, so cool...
But, well...Best maybe western Approach, though mostly for the Time-Temple, one of the coolest places in DAI
And worst? I'd go with Emerald Forests ... I just don't get warm with that area, maybe its the giants and their stupid pets, and all that green...

Favorites: Empire du Lion, Crestwood, and Emerald Graves
Least favorite: Hinterlands, Exalted Plains.
TBH though, there is something about most of the settings that has a generic quality in them. They look pretty and all, but there was not enough that made them seem distinct place compared to the rest of world. Nothing was distinctly looking Ferelden or Orlesian and it looked like any region could be seen in either nations, IMO.

Favourite: The western approach. Cool desert area with great loot to boot! Great enemies too.
Least favourite: Hinterlands. There is nothing good about hinterlands.

Favorite:
Exalted Plains. I like when a zone tells a story by itself. A story of war, death, history and lost majesty. And it's the most diverse zone of the game, with a lot of interesting contrasts. The Orlais dilemna should have been handled there, with Briala trying to get in touch with dalish elves and Gaspard planning to attack Celene's fort. It's funny to read people disliked that place, I thought this was the best they have done.
I also liked:
Emprise du Lion. First place I felt the Inquisition was a big thing everytime I progress in Red Templar camps.
Hinterlands. Not a very good starting zone, but a good place per se. Overkill though. A Fallow Mire kind of zone would have been better I think.
Worst:
Hissing Wastes. The Western Approach, night time, with infinite spaces. Fine for 1 or 2 hours, and then very quickly boring, painful and tedious.
Not sure how I'll handle those zones during my 2nd playthrough:
Crestwood. Can't remember much about this zone, except for the main quest. Nothing very interesting there.
The Western Approach. I don't know how to say it. It feels a lot like a Mario level to me.
Emerald Graves. Ok it's beautiful, I liked the contrast between the orlesian mauvais goût and the elven relics here and there. But the Exalted Plains told me the same kind of story. It felt like another kind of desert with trees everywhere.

Favourite: Crestwood I'd say, seeing the change in coastline.
Least Fav:
Fallow Mire. I take shortcuts across stuff because it is usually faster. That's not the case if dampening your toes spawns zombies because 'we wanted exploring to feel dangerous!'. It was annoyingly time-consuming, and there was never an explanation for the behaviour.
The corpses themselves? Yes - that plague. But why so many with so few buildings? And why do they protect the water? Seems more like a feature that should have been present in Crestwood, for more obvious reasons.

Favorite: Emprise du Lion. It felt like I was actually getting something done, and the fact that I went in way underleveled made it challenging and interesting.
Least favorite: Emerald Graves or Fallow Mire. Giants are a pain even at high levels and there's no reason to have constant undead in a basically empty area.

Least Favorite: Emprise du Lion (I hate the slog up to Ishmael)

Favourite:
Emerald Graves; it was just so beautiful and I loved the feeling of being on the edges of civilization (much moreso than the Hinterlands for sure!), and I suppose you could include Arbor Wilds to it given the relative vincinity.
Runners up:
Hissing Wastes - purely for the aesthetics of the map, it was one of the best 'fantasy desert' maps I've ever seen. Lacking tombs made it lose favourite.
Emprise du Lion - It had a nice strike team feel among the beautiful trees and cliffs.
Least favourite:
Honestly... none. I liked the rest enough to enjoy all... however, some had less enjoyable moments, which brings me to...
Part-time-worst:
Exalted Plains - Did not like the trenches parts.
Forbidden Oasis - Normally I like jumping, but I feel like there were too many intended backtracks here.
The intro area near Haven - A bit too tutorial, but i have to admit, mostly for all my rerolls for looks-reasons. ![]()

Least favourite is probably Hissing Wastes. It's supposed to be that way. Roll upon roll of sand dunes .... it is beautiful but kind of off beat. I feel like I ought to clap on a Fremen outfit and go trudging off into the wild desert. Oh Shai-hulud, hear my prayers .... ![]()

My favorite is Crestwood for several reason, it's small yet filled with meaningful quests, it introduces keep capturing, day-night setting I could go on.
The worst for me was the Exalted Plains. This may surprise you but I really HATE the ramparts. I leave those Orlesian fools to die on every playthough after the first. The dalish quests are bad and the only good thing in the area is the dragon and the area you unlock in the war room.

Best: Emprise du Lion. For the simple reason that we had to win over campsites from the red templars. And it has three dragons... Also, Suledin Keep is pretty good. Hinterlands comes as a close second for the best.
Worst is Hissing Wastes.

Hissing wastes was the worst for me, big and bloody boring. Time spent creating that area would have been better spent working on something else. Either that or more work needed to be done with it
Best, probably Crestwood. The area actually had in interesting story behind.
Visually, storm coast. The wow factor is their when first setting foot in the area. I screwed up the Blades the first time. I crafted the amulet but didn't think to actually wear it. Doh!

Least is the storm coast, BECAUSE I SPENT HOURS TRYING TO FIND THE DAMN DRAGON BEFORE SPOTTING THAT DAMN RED TEMPLAR OPERATION.

In defense of the Hissing Wastes: it is one of the few areas where you can benefit from the mount.

I have not fully explored Hissing W. yet, I didn't even go there in my first play through, but just visiting it in my 2nd, I felt it looked awesome. The best thing it has going for it is that it is at night.
I wish they had more day/night mix in other maps, like crestwood.

Favorite would be Crestwood, Emprise Du Lion and the Exalted Plains.
Why? They are the only zones that change based on your actions, some of the quests in the exalted plains may have been terrible but at least my actions there had a noticeable effect on the world. I would hope if Bioware has to go down this semi open world path again, which in its current state I despise, they at least makes the zones like Crestwood which was far and above my favorite.
My worst is the Hissing Wastes, what a horrible excuse for "content".

I didn't really dislike any zone. My favorite would probably be the Hissing Wastes, although its quest reward was disappointing compared to how long it took me to complete it.
